There was nothing too difficult for the owners. Each morning we would have knowledge of the roads (due to black ice) quickest route to drive. Even suggested sites to see and if we asked they would supply an answer. Wonderful.
Situated just 20 minutes' drive from central Dunedin city, Hunters Moon offers stunning views over the Taieri plain.

We've stayed at Hunters Moon a number of times and it's always been warm and comfortable. John is a great host and we've enjoyed chatting to him and to other guests over breakfast. The setting is lovely with views and the peace of the countryside.

Location was easy to get to, peaceful, private access, walking distance to beach, short drive to shops and town/city. Host was accommodating, friendly and helpful. Everything you need is there, great kitchenette, room was warm, bed comfy, bathroom great. A peaceful retreat and place to stay. Far better quality, value for money compared to a lot of motels. We will be back to stay again.

We were only there as a stopover to Dunedin Hospital but as a base for future trips to the district we would certainly use it as an option for the future. As a motel it was impressive and we would recommend it to future "users".

Mosgiel is a pretty town that has a lot of lovely shops, we were happy to stay in a quiet location with beautiful scenery. Would recommend dining at The Black Sheep. Best restaurant we have been to in a very long time.

Nellys restaurant great meals value for money.
Nellys restaurant great meals value for money. The towns small enough to meander through and if your looking for something specific just ask one of the lovely shop staff/owners. Everyone was most welcoming and friendly, even when i misread the drink and called it marmalade lemonade the waitress had a laugh and even asked if i liked their marmalade lemonade, it Said Homemade.

Lovely old Town with some fabulous old houses, I'm always happy to see a town retain some of its original character. The traffic a breeze, not a rage road in sight. The townsfolk friendly and relaxed. Good cafesin town as well.
We wanted to stay out of the city of Dunedin, so chose Mosgiel as our base. The motel was perfect for our needs. We couldn't have wished for anything more, apart from more time to stay. You could easily spend a week here but we just had the one night. There's plenty of room for suitcases and drawer and hanging space for clothes. We only used the kitchen for breakfast but it seemed to have plenty of cooking utensils to make meals. The outlook from the verandah was lovely, and it was very quiet and peaceful.
The barn was very clean, the owners were really easy to work with, they offered to have lights on and fire lit if I was going to be a late checking in. Short drive into Mosgiel where there was a grocery store and lots of restaurants and a quick 15 minute drive to downtown Dunedin.
Great room very spacious and clean. Great location easy to get to and from Dunedin and the speedway. Handy to mosgiel town. Proprietor very friendly and super helpful. We stayed in a few motels on our holiday and this motel is up there with the nicest ones we stayed in.
Excellent location at Mosgiel giving quick access to Dunedin Airport. Offer of prepped breakfast but we had our own well equipped kitchenette. They provided milk. Huge comfortable suite. Access to guest laundry for small cost for dryer.
So clean and well maintained. Friendly and accomodating staff our room was lovely and warm the night we flew in after reception had closed. Perfect for what we were down south for and wanting to be in mosgiel.
Very spacious and clean and owners so generous and accommodating. Best ever. As we didn’t have a car they made sure we had access to transport into Mosgiel and recommended transport to airport
Found it cramped toilet was too low as a disabled person it was very awkward to sit on but in your defernce all other toilets I used while in mosgiel were the same
perfect for my purposes, clean, comfortable, “real” milk (vs skim milk tubs most hotels & motels use), friendly call when I was on the way but hadn’t made contact
