it's a place more convenient for self-drive although they do have a fixed shuttle timing every day to fetch check-in customers. it was kid friendly and we could even find baby yukata for our 2yo toddler complete with shoes that fit her feet too. stayed in the new wing which was clean and had a lovely view as well. dinner buffet was also provided but it paled in comparison to our onsen hotels in hokkaido. one thing great was the free flow alcohol which many evidently enjoyed. they also had an ice cream machine. stargazing event was lovely, but do take note to dress warmly (some guests decided not to go out of the hotel due to the strong winds).

A nice little gem in Kurokawa. From the moment I entered the premisses I was very impressed! It has a nice rustic feel to it with some modern twists. The open air onsen was very nice and after you are finished you can relax outside in your yukata while enjoying the beutiful garden in front of the reception.
The staff is very friendly and service oriented. They spoke english well, so it was easy to communicate. Dinner and breakfast was great. We were able to pay using credit card which was much appreciated. I can easily recommend this hotel!

Lovely cabin with two big rooms in a wooded location on a hillside. We would have been happy with only one room but the owner (who spoke English) thought that was too small! There was also a veranda to sit on but it was too cold in November. There was a sink and a toilet in both rooms. There was a private bath big enough for 2 in a cabin 10m away.
The food was amazing. Really top notch cooking. Deserved a Michelin star! Don’t miss out on the food. I think it was 3,800 yen for dinner.

The hotel room has a magnificent view. We can see the grass field and sunrise in the morning. The hotel room is excellent, neat, clean, comfortable and tidy. The staff was nice and helpful. We went for the horse riding tour the other day and the staff were happy to explain the horses to us.

Very nice traditional ryokan with public bath and family bath. We had a private bath in our room, which we enjoyed a lot. Beds were comfortable, food was very nice. Other onsen can be visited in walking distance.
