A beautiful city in the Alps.
A beautiful city in the Alps. There are many sporting possibilities, however it was raining while we were there, so we couldn't experience them. There is a great mining museum nearby, very interesting. The prices are a bit higher than in other parts of Italy.

Nice small and quiet town, easy to navigate on foot.
Nice small and quiet town, easy to navigate on foot. Lots of restaurants, a few bars, but we didn't mind because we were there with children. The ski resort and ski lifts are very close to the town, easily reachabel, there is also a big parking space right next to ski slopes.

The lift to the top of the ski run was enjoyable.
The lift to the top of the ski run was enjoyable. The view from the top is beautiful. We also drove to, then hiked the two lakes. In town we asked several locals about where to find things, everyone was friendly. An especially good place to eat is at the hotel restaurant near the green cross pharmacy. This is definitely a nice 2-3 day outing.

There are prettier towns in the Alps and a bit messy with all the traffic going through the town centre. But it is nice enough to spend a weekend and especially to explore the area. The cycling path that leads to Slovenia and Austria goes through the town which makes it very accessible.

Was this due to COVID or just because of the period??
I can understand that the ski season must be totally different.
But very nice trail, hiking area.

Great little town for short vacation or winter holiday...
Great little town for short vacation or winter holiday weekend.
Ski resort is just enough for a 2-3 day skiing and town has enough to offer with pizzerias, bars, taverns and night clubs. I will come back for sure...
We had a great time at the apartment. The location right in the center of Tarvisio is excellent and the apartment has everything you need. The owner of the apartment was super friendly and helpful and we even got a welcome drink. everything was easy to organize and we cannot recommend this place enough. The price was a little bit higher than other apartments but that was only due to the fact that the Giro d Italia was in Tarvisio (and we had the best view from our balcony).
The location of apartment was perfect since it only took us a few minutes of walking from apartment to ski lift. We liked garage where we could leave our skis and change into ski boots. During our stay in Tarviso there were two days where bad weather was expected. It turned out that days were perfect for skiing since there were only a few people on tracks. No wait time on ski lifts. Apartment was fully equipped and very clean.
Wonderful location on a real farm with friendly and proud people and a very well done house, beautiful like a traditional alpine house and inside all the modern comfort, I wish to come back and learn everything how they work on the farm. Great atmosphere with animals and mountains. Wonderful location above Tarvisio where you just step out the door up onto apline fields
Beautiful accommodation in the magical town of Tarvisio with many possibilities for skiing either directly in Tarvisio or in the nearby resort of Sella Nevea (on the border of SLO and ITA).
The owners Ivo and Caterina are very pleasant people, with whom there was no problem to agree on anything. I can recommend.
Very good location near main highway AUT-IT. Very good breakfast. Large parking belonging to the hotel. There is a restaurant inside the hotel open pretty late (it's very important when You're late due to to e.g. traffic jams).
The hotel is in a quiet old mining town, not very scenic but intresteing industrial heritage. Room was basic but comfortable. Dinner was in the restaurant of the hotel. Bovec is approximatley 30 minutes drive away.
The apartment was beautiful, very close to the ski slope - you could probably walk but we drove. It took about 2 minutes. It was also very close to shops, restaurants and bakery etc. We loved it.
Nice 4* hotel next to the ski slopes. Good breakfast, with tasty cakes, Rigoni jam, and bacon/eggs. The room was big enough and the bed was quite comfortable.
