The grounds are pretty and the staff was very kind! They went above and beyond for my birthday, and helped us stay dry while checking out on a rainy day. Their care extends to their breakfast: a wide array of warm and cold options, plus eggs to order.

Hotel Masseria Fortificata Donnaloia, hotel in Monopoli

With a beach 1.5 km away, Hotel Masseria Fortificata Donnaloia is a restored farmhouse 250 metres from the seaside. The restaurant is a converted hay barn with roof terrace.

5 stars for this hotel is a big shame. Couldnt avoid the smell of deepfried food, the constant noise of the toilet that didnt work well. It was horrible and above all a big middle finger to all the Masseria’s nearby with a 4 star rating. This hotel isnt worth 3 stars.

Cala Corvino is just 200 metres from the coast and its beautiful beaches. It features a swimming pool, tennis court, and air-conditioned rooms. It offers a gourmet restaurant and is set in its garden....

the staff was really nice and helpful, we had a private apartment with kitchen, it was ok, good kitchen equipment and big fridge, nice flowers on the balcony, the region of puglia is very nice, close to nice cities if you have a car, from the resort you can make some nice hikes on the coast to the nearest cities - we recommend hike to Polignano al Mare with a designated trial on the coast (look for white-red marks) can be good for families with kids and with a car;

    We are happy that we avoided Bari and instead chose wonderful Monopoli as home base for day-trips across the region. While Monopoli and the cities in general are clean and tidy, there is one general issue for the region: Garbage. It's everywhere. Plastic, glass, you name it, is all littered along roadsides and even on the coastal pathways. The magnitude is staggering and it's such a shame.

    We come for the third time to Monopoli and it charms us again - a very nice city, with a wonderful atmosphere and places to walk. Very nice beaches and places to have coffee and eat, in the evening in the old town and around the castle it is very nice to walk. We recommend the following places: Gelateria Bella Blu Monopoli Ristorante Pizzeria Il Quadrifoglio IL PANZEROTTO: RE UMBERTO I Lido Bianco

    I'm very glad I chose Monopoli over Polignano a Mare as a base for our trip in Puglia. Taste is, of course, subjective, but I think Monopoli is the nicest coastal town around Bari, it has a fairly big old town with a lot of quaint streets to explore, plenty of restaurants and even a good stretch of rocky, cliff-y coastline you can actually walk on, peppered with a few small beaches. I imagine it gets just as busy in summer but in April it was less crowded than Polignano and overall feels like there's more space. It's also very well connected, ~ 20 min from Ostuni, ~ 5 min from Polignano, ~1h10 from Lecce, ~30 min from Bari all on the main trainline we used everyday.

    A perfect place to spend your vacation regardless the time of the year. Monopoli is very well connected with other tourist destination such Alberobello (by bus, near the train station) , Polignano a Mare (train), Matera ( by train, make sure to change the train at Altamura) and other locations.

    Monopoli is a very clean and safe place where you feel comfortable exploring both at day and at night. The historic areas are perfect for pedestrians. We really enjoyed walking the pathways along the Adriatic Sea with historic castles and fortresses, the docks with fishermen returning with their catch, and the beautiful waterfront views.

    Great location in Piazza Garibaldi - centro storico. Just walk down the (many) steps from the apartment and you are right in the center of the piazza with bars, cafes, bakery and restaurants surrounding you. Large apartment with a rooftop terrace to enjoy aperitivo and great views over Monopoli. The steep and many stairs may not be for everyone (no elevator) but we enjoyed the exercise several times daily! We also enjoyed the Moka pot for coffee in the morning. Convenient street parking (free on and after Oct 1) 2 blocks away.

    Very spacious apartment in the I believe best possible location of Monopoli Old Town - right in the centre, a few steps away from the main Monopoli street, however still quiet and very homey. The owners were super nice and helpful with anything we asked them from getting an iron to informing us how to get around Puglia. The standard of the room - super clean and comfortable apartment with a great Jacuzzi bathroom. I definitely recommend for anyone looking for a romantic and qualitative escape to Southern Italy, and thank you! :)

    A very beautiful and cosy appartment in the old town. It is only 3 minutes from the old harbor and there are many restaurants and shops nearby. You can reach the first beach after 10 minutes of walking. Donatella was one of the best hosts I've ever had. She is lovely, friendly, helpful and makes you feel at home from the first minute of your stay until your last. It was a perfect holiday in the beautiful town Monopoli. Me, as a female solo traveller, felt very safe there.

    We liked everything about it: the entire design and attention to details, the very engaging and nice host, who waited for us with a few things in the fridge, and explained whatever piece of information we needed + (and this is a huge plus) its location: near a market, a pharmacy, city centre & old town + 10 mins on foot to a cute sandy beach. Monopoli has a really beautiful cathedral, and was overall a chic town to explore and discover a little bit of Puglia!

    The whole experience was amazing 🤩 secure easy parking, beautiful hotel, spacious room and bathroom. Breakfast was absolutely incredible - homemade bread, fruit, fresh coffee, eggs and many homemade treats and sweets. The best bit... The people! So friendly, so kind, happy, positive, beautiful people. I cannot thank them enough for how lovely they were with us at breakfast. The location of this property is right in the heart of Old Town Monopoli! You can walk right out of the hotel and everything is within a 5 minute walk. The room was very modern with updated appliances. As far the staff, Pietro, the hotel manager, went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. He even upgraded us to a better room because it was vacant for the days we were staying there! First class service through and through.
