The staff were really friendly and made things really easy by picking us up on arrival in Levanto and again after dinner out. The room was lovely and the bar was well stocked with more food options than we expected. But the highlight by far is the pool and the setting, I can't imagine a nicer place to go for a swim than high in the hills above the sea at sunset! Absolutely stunning.

Less than 5 minutes' walk from the beach in Bonassola, close to the station for trains around the Cinque Terre, Pensione Moderna offers a picturesque garden with exotic and Mediterranean plants.

We loved staying at this hotel. It just oozes classic Italian charm. A wonderful, high-ceiling dining room downstairs where they serve a super breakfast (all pastries made in-house!), very friendly owners/staff (a group of family-related women), and the room was very clean and proper, with a recently renewed bathroom but done is a very tasteful way that perfectly preserves the classic atmosphere. And we loved this quiet and modest little village with a beautiful beach, and very nice walks to be taken in the area. The hotel also has bicycles for hire.

Beautifully appointed in a very quiet location. The restaurant meals were delicious and very reasonably priced. The breakfast was mainly continental with a huge selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, pastries etc. There was also scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages included in the complimentary breakfast. More than enough food to set you up for the day.
