We stayed here for 2 nights and used it as our starting point for exploring the golden circle and, believe me, it is very well located for this purpose. The cottage is not brand new and its age can be observed but this is not an issue. It was clean, it has a small hot tube right near the entrance and all the facilities one may need for cooking and having cosy nights.
There was heavy wind during our stay but we still managed to use the hot tub. The heating system is interesting… we dont like very high temps while bathing but since you have an on/off switch you can tune the right temp for every taste (unlike many other hot tubs in Iceland which are simply too hot and you can’t change their temp).
There is one room with a double bad and another small room with a bunk bed. We were two couples but we didn’t find it annoying… it’s fine as long as you know it in advance and dont have other expectations.
The price we found was simply the best reported to the area and the quality matched the price.

The hot tube outside, quiet and calm. The lovely ladies working at the hotel. The beautiful horses nearby. The simplicity of the hotel, warm, easy. Perfect spot for a digital nomad, for a retreat and of course for horse riding lovers.
The Greenhouse hotel has 7 restaurants and a bar in its food hall, Icelandic designer stores, Icecream and a local food market.

The overall vibe and concept is superb, a surprisingly hip hotel in Iceland. Staff was friendly and very helpful. I loved the design and features of our room. It was clean, spacious and very cozy and comfortable. Location is fairly convenient, with parking just outside and a supermarket nearby. The food hall and shop on the ground floor were great too. There was a lot of varieties and they were delicious!

Lovely, cosy cabin/cottage with all the facilities you could wish for and very tastefully decorated. Akurgerdi is in a great location with amazing views, close to all the amenities & shops of Selfoss (10 mins drive away) and golden circle highlights. A short walk/drive to the neighbouring viking restaurant Ingólfsskáli which is a must if you stay at Akurgerdi. Our host Sabine was very helpful and informative even to the point of telling us when the Northern lights were making an appearance. The only downside is that we weren't able to stay longer! Would definitely recommend and would love to be able to stay again.
