Beautiful location, quiet surroundings, lovely dining room, staff was friendly, the room/bathroom was clean. We agreed that this was a place we could come back to and spend several days. Delicious breakfast included with our booking, all kinds of food available. We didn't take the opportunity to use the sauna or the hot tub which was our loss. We missed out on dinner too. Can't say enough nice things.
Featuring a stargazing observatory on site, this luxury hotel is in an beautiful remote location next to the Rangá salmon river in Hella.

I like that I was able to book last minute because this property was quite vacant

The reception staff was very friendly and the breakfast we were served was good. The value of the room was good for Iceland standards, especially considering the price included the breakfast.

Location, very clean, comfortable, quick response from property manager.
Hella a bit sparse. No good restaurants that we found and they stop serving at 9pm. Not much to Hella but it was in the countryside and we saw the Northern Lights. Our hotel was well lit so we could find it but they would not turn off the lights to view the Northern Lights better.

Small central town, great for staying at the igloos, and great for going all round. So nice to go east to Vik for the Katla ice caves, skogafoss and the waterfall hike, and Vik beach and west for kerid crater and blue lagoon and then north for gullfoss and the geysers. The town itself has a small supermarket, nice bakery and okay places to eat. Looks pretty with the mountains to the side.

We were not happy with the accommodation.
We were not happy with the accommodation. The front desk staff were disorganized. We were told a day before check that we would have 2 cabins instead of the 2 rooms we booked in the main hotel. When we arrived we were told we would get 2 cabins. When we checked I across the street, we were told we had one cabin which was a downgrade for us. One adult had to sleep in an upper bunk bed and the cabin was smelly , some windows did not fully close and the main door did not lock. We were quite disappointed in the accommodations. The cabin was not in good shape. We specifically booked 2 rooms to get 2 bathrooms period. Based in all of this, we would like to request a partial refund.

Extremely lousy management, relocated and downgraded to s cabin nearby with no wifi, handwash or toiletries. Reason given- overbook, well not a acceptable reason in 2023! Avoid at any cost, overpriced for bad service

Beautiful, clean, modern home with spectacular views.
Beautiful, clean, modern home with spectacular views.
Location of home is quiet, on a horse farm, about 30 minutes from the main town of Selfoss. It was a good location to explore the south. We would stay there again!

Terrible relocation experience due to overbooking.

Terrible relocation experience due to overbooking.
1. Unacceptable reason of overbooking in real time booking system especially we have fully paid.
2. The selection of customers for relocation is not transparent, not logical and also not acceptable, especially we have fully paid in serval months (confirmed and paid on 4 Feb 2023 for the booking on 1-3 Aug)
3. We booked 3 rooms (7 persons) for 2 nights (1-3 Aug). Maybe pre-empting us can release more rooms for others, and maximize the revenue as we might paid less (booked in 6 months in advance)
4. Very short notice ie we received the relocation message at 16:18 on 1 Aug that we were on the way to Legendary Hotel Hella. I strongly believe the overbooking happened at least a month ago but I had only 2 hours notification time
5. 2 receptionists are inexperienced to handle such disaster issue. The manager, the decision maker, was hidden and not face to or talk to the customer directly. 2 Receptionists were not able to explain the situation nor to comport their customers.
6. We were relocated to Bru Country Estate, that required us to drive about 1 hour to there.
7. Hotel Hella booked 3 rooms for us (7 persons) in Bru Country Estate for us but there are only double rooms (no triple room) in Bru Country Estate. It created another problem during the careless relocation booking.
8. We booked a local tour to Highland on 2 Aug. The itinerary was changed and shorted due to longer travel time starting from Selfoss instead of Hella
Nothing, we didn’t stay at all. Checked in around 7 pm only got the keys as we were late for dinner at another restaurant, sure what can go wrong. Came back at 10 pm to find dirty cabin - can understand these things happen however no one to contact, reception closed, messaged the property no answer called the number multiple times no answer. In the middle of the Iceland 10 pm pissing rain. Luckily another property down the road had extra room for the night. Also messaged the property multiple times days after this still no reply.
Our stay was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, the room was nice and the dinner which could be ordered in the restaurant was delicious. It's a bit pricey, but I had the impression that it was high quality food and also the free breakfast was very good. The spa was also a nice plus, we used the jacuzzi (outside) and the sauna in the evening. I'd always return there to stay in a great hotel on the way to Landmannalaugar.
This hotel is amazing and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious, and the bed was very comfortable! Could not of asked for a better experience for our first day/night in Iceland. The staff was very helpful with educating us on things to do as well as directions on how to get there. Went above and beyond with all the information! We absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back!!!!
Tindasel Lodge seems like a boutique lodge off-road near Hella. Driving towards it feels like going on a farmstead and entering the Lodge itself feels like steping into a deluxe hotel. The rooms were nice and had a pleasant smell. The staff was friendly and helpful. It had an amazing outdoor spa which was amazing to relax in during the evening hours with a beautiful view of the country side.
Such a cosy and beautiful house. It was all nice and warm when we arrived. The bedding was super fresh. The location was beautiful, looking into a river and the village of Hella is so lovely, lots of twinkling lights. The house was also bigger than expected with very good bathroom and kitchen facilities. Amazing value for money, would definitely return.
Really unique location, surrounded by trees on the edge of a majestic river. Well maintained paths made for a magical early morning walk during our winter stay.
Extremely clean and well-designed modern cabin. Bed was super comfy. The compact kitchen has everything you need for meal prep. Highly recommend a tour of the Hella Caves, located nearby.
We stayed in one of the cabins on a November trip to Iceland. Easy to find location and lovely views in the daytime. The cabin was comfortable, warm and spacious for two and the kitchen well equipped (fridge and oven). It was very useful having the restaurant nearby (although we didn't eat there the night we stayed) and the staff were friendly.
Loved this beautiful guest house. We stayed here one night but wish I had stayed more, as I later realized that the chances of seeing northern lights in Hella are quite high.
- Perfect cozy and comfy room
- Common dining, kitchen and seating area with all the amenities
- Yummiest heart shaped waffles by the amazing host
The property itself was fine, there was nothing to write home about. Breakfast was included and was acceptable for a standard Icelandic hotel breakfast. The bathroom was not super clean, with several hairballs on the floor, but we were happy to have a room at least.
Big and modern room with new furniture, clean, nice bathroom, good wifi, nice staff.
Breakfast was good, parking right in front of hotel.
Hotel also has a restaurant with good food and decent prices if you want to have dinner.
We regret not staying more nights at the hotel. It was an incredible stay. They acknowledged our anniversary and left a lovely surprise. The hotel is super cute and cozy. It was the best breakfast we had in Iceland.
Nice accommodation, 1 km from the town of Hella. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and we were offered coffee, toast and cultured yogurt with muesli. The hotel overlooks a beautiful river.
We liked everything about this little hostel/hotel - the location, restaurant on site, the rooms were larger than most we stayed in, the rooms were quiet, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was fabulous.
The owner and all his employees are very Kind and nice people. They always help and will do their best, that you have a Good Stay at their Hotel. The Food was also nice for icelandic Standards
The hotel is in a beautiful location, right on the river with a great view. It has a mini kitchenette inside so if you wanted to cook your own food, you could do so.
The little yellow houses were adorable! loved the friendly staff, the restaurant & the sauna, hot tub and cold plunge pool. This was our favorite place in Iceland.
