A very nice and quiet accommodation on a former farm. In the summer, they have more horses than in winter that you can pet or feed (ask the staff first!). There is also a small canyon nearby with different waterfalls. Very nice for a short morning or evening walk. The staff was very friendly. :)
In Midfjordur, midway between Reykjavik and Akureyri, is Hótel Laugarbakki. Stay close to one of Iceland’s best salmon rivers and the natural hot springs, which heat up the entire community.

Great views and enjoyed watching the sheep - even caught our first views of the elusive fox. House was spacious and roomy - really did feel homey.

The house is very nice and clean and the rooms are spacious.
The house is very nice and clean and the rooms are spacious. If you don't mind bunk beds this is the place to go. We didn't see a TV but it didn't matter to us and it made for a lovely family time. We had to put the covers on our bedding but that is to keep the cost down and for the price we were happy to and would do it again. Two thumbs up.

This location is romote.
This location is romote. You have to eat else where or bring your own food. It is a dormatory style guesthouse, with usually more than one person in each room. However I was on my own, but the room had 4 beds in it. It would be ususally be a last resort for me. If I was not on my own I would not have booked this location. The cost would have been rather expensive if in a dormatory. You would pay alot less for that style.
