On our tour of Crete (Almyrida 4 nights, Cora Sfakion 3 nights, Agia Galini 3 nights, Archanes 3 nights) we felt very comfortable in the Authentic Village Boutic Hotel. The room, bathroom and the inner courtyard of the hotel complex were fantastically beautiful. Coffee pods, lemonade and water were free. We enjoyed the hikes on the first day from Chora Sfakia to Loutro and the following day from Loutro to Marmara Beach (What a beautiful restaurant there!) as well as the necessary boat passages.
Located on the sea front of Chora Sfakion and just 10 metres from the Libyan Sea, the hotel Samaria by the Sea features 11 rooms with balcony and sea view.

The view!!! Despite the “town” being highly touristic (the hotel is an integrated part of a restaurant street - and that is basically the town), we still had a great time and praised ourselves lucky that we came at a time with less tourists. There seems to be a common agreement that music is not allowed - we highly appreciated that!! That means you can actually hear the sea and your thoughts (not a luxury you had in some of the other Cretan tourist towns we visited). I had really nice and very flexible treatment by the booking staff of the hotel: accommodating and service oriented.

It’s a pretty and lively place, only accessible by boat. The town is a nice place to enjoy food and drink. We found Ilios to be the best restaurant and the bar on the far right (looking from the sea) to be an enjoyable place for a drink or two. The best things about the place, for us, were the immediate access to the E4 hiking route and the multiple boat trips to nearby beaches Glika Nera and Marmara. Glika Nera is fabulous if not too crowded. Try the home made Kolokithokeftedes (courgette balls) with a little Tzatziki at the taverna on the jetty. Yum!

I have been coming for years, it is a special and magical place. I love Sweetwater beach, the best stuffed tomatos ever. The local folk are welcoming and friendly, the sea clear and the whole place spotless. Lots of eateries and bars and mini markets to cater for all needs. You can access adjoining beaches and tiny villages via foot and ferry. the taxi Sfakia company provide superb airport pick ups and safe rides over the mountains to the ferry at Sfakia for Loutro.

Loutro is just beautiful and very peaceful especially in the evening. All the places we ate were good and there is a very good choice of tavernas. It's equally great for walkers and for relaxing, swimming, reading etc.
The ferry boat sail from Paleochora is really pleasant and picturesque. Loutro is easy to get around and there are little boats to take one to Marmara beach where there is amazing clear water for swimming and a cafe.
We loved it.

A unique and charming village, accessible by boat from Hora Sfakia, with several small and cosy beaches, plenty of nice taverns with local food, friendly people. Although there are many visitors during the day, it was peaceful and authentic. Prices were regular and I did not encounter any "tourist traps". Could have stayed for months...

the beach and water are incredible ones of the best on the island. there are several small restaurants where you can enjoy Cretan cuisine, try the local delicacy of sfakiani pita with honey. it can get very busy especially on weekends with several boats throughout the day so get there early and find a good spot on the beach. at night it's quite so good for families. I would recommend a one or two night stay , definitely a place to relax.

We stayed in Loutro for two days not nearly long enough to give a proper review but the restaurants we visited were fantastic, it only takes 15 minutes to walk from one end of the bay to the other. I would recommend if you're planning on going in the sea to take a pair of Beach shoes as the beach is pebbles.
Clean room, near the restaurant and beach, friendly staff, beautiful view. Really loved the colorscheme of the room, it was fresh, stylish and very relaxing.
A/C was also a great amenity considering the hot summer weather in Greece, and the room was a nice stop to relax and cool yourself down.
Daily cleaning was also great, considering that we even stayed for only 2 days. Was nice to always find a fresh set of sheets and everything in order.
Amazing staff. Demetria (not sure the spelling) was incredible. She made the place feel more like a home than a hotel. The other staff were great also.
The restaurant was phenomenal. The food was very good. The cocktails were amazing. The view was unbeatable.
Location was great, just up from the ferry stop.
The room was clean and well appointed. It had a beautiful balcony.
It’s a magical place.
Optimal location, clean bathroom and helpful staff. The bar of the hotel is recommended even if you are not a guest of the hotel itself, as it has a very nice atmosphere, especially at night. The location is also great as it is the first hotel you see once you step out of the port but in any case everything in Loutro is max 2 min. away
Quick and easy check in, amazing property with a break taking view and big balcony. Bed was comfy and shower worked well. I don’t understand all the negative reviews for this accommodation, the price we paid was defintley fair, I would defintley recommend staying here whilst at loutro! Thanks again
The hotel proprietors were incredibly earnest and wanted to make sure we had a nice stay. The food was delicious and the stars at night were amazing. It is very peaceful because it is rather remote which is a double edged sword. I would recommend staying longer than one night like we did.
This clean no frills hotel is run by really nice people. The front of house manager is a straight forward person who is happy to help with anything you request.
Rooms are big, they accommodated a fourth bed at the last minute without it being crammed. Would stay there again.
The location is perfect- it's the first hotel you get to when you get off from the ferry. The bar/restaurant is so inviting with it unique and quaint decor. The hosts were wonderful to talk to and so accommodating. Will definitely stay here again when we go back to Loutro
Everything was good. The hotel is located in the center of Loutro. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff is really nice and very kind. I really recommend to spend at least a night in Loutro and I suggest this hotel because it is the best rate value/money.
Wonderful location, outstanding staff, comfortable but not luxurious accommodations, and, of course, lovely hostess Christina spent some time with us to actually get to know us in the short time we were there. We will always remember Christina and Loutro!
lovely hotel 10m from the beach. great service, lovely breakfast overlooking the bay served by very friendly staff, and then it turned into a bar for the rest of the day. room cleaned & changed every day.
Wonderful location. So happy we stayed here rather than in loutro itself. There are two walking routes over the peninsular to get into loutro, but being on the peaceful beach at lykos is wonderful too.
We loved our stay at Villa Niki, I could sit and look at the view from the balcony all day. The rooms were even better than the photos, great aircon , thoroughly recommend if you're going to Loutro.
Nice and quiet very clean very helpful especially Audreas the man in the window organising a taxi back to Chania. Also very friendly store halfway up to your accommodation.
