Kalamaki centre is based mostly around a single wide road lined with a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars, tourist shops, car rentals and tour operators. There are a few beaches to choose from, all of which face into Laganas Bay with clean water and good views. During our stay we ate at a number of restaurants. Kalamaki is a great family resort.
Kalamaki is a great family resort. We have stayed here roughly 9 times over the past 20 years with and without kids. 10 minute walk to the beach which is lovely and clean. 5-10 minutes to plenty of restaurants and shops. Nice choice of hotels. We have stayed at Denny's inn (about 4 times) the Roseland, the Venus, Antonis apartments and now Ionion Blue. Loads of other nice hotels to choose from.

Dirt, mess, lots of stray animals everywhere, at every turn you are offered tours around the island, they lure you to restaurants. Typical dozen resort, only tourists everywhere through travel agencies, hotels and crappy public transport (almost none). It was our first but at the same time last visit to Kalamaki. Great base for the rest of the island. Good safe beaches. Lots of tours on offer. Went everywhere on foot in the village. Cheap buses to capital, reasonable car hire. Only caution we went end-of-season (October) so cannot vouch for high season. Definitely going back there againDavidUnited Kingdom

It was a short 5 minutes walk to the nearest beach (Paralia Kalamaki beach). Semi good breakfast every day, the same essentials was served more or less (eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, etc). We had room 301 which was good space for my family, 2 adults and 2 young adults, but there were only 1 aircon which was placed in 1 of the rooms. Nice view of the ocean and the small bathroom and shower.

We stayed for 7 nights and we had a wonderful time. The beach is very close, like a 5 minute walk. Very clean and quiet. There are shops close by that have everything you might need on a holiday. The room was very spacious with modern furniture (big and comfortable bed) and new appliances. Our room had a decent size balcony with a lovely view to the sea and the town. The room and the whole premises were both very clean and tidy. The owners were extremely friendly and warm and made us feel so welcome and looked after. The superior rooms have an epic bathroom. Food was fine. Staff was friendly. We spent most of our time outdoors exploring the island. The position is great - the Kalamaki beach is one of the best on the island and its a short walk from the hotel. We rented bicycles from "Tony" for half a day for half the price (way cheaper than in Laganas).
