The food was excellent & not too expensive, especially considering how much one pays to eat out. We had a double-booked spa appointment they couldn't reschedule, but we were there over Mothering Sunday, so this was not unsurprising. We did use the pool, the sauna & hot tub - the sauna was my favourite, but I spend a lot of time in saunas, so I recognise a good one when I'm away from my usual health club. Curiously, the rooms & reception didn't provide the usual leaflets or information about local attractions, but with access to the internet, we did find the local steam railway line that proved an excellent attraction to enjoy for several hours on a rainy day. We knew it was in the area as we had seen the smoke plume the day before, which was unmistakable evidence of its existence, so we then searched online to find out where we could catch it. The hotel really needs to advertise local attractions, especially the steam railway! I also drive a plug-in hybrid, so having an overnight charging facility was great for lowering driving costs. However, they could do with more than just three 7kW bays, as they were proving popular with others, too. I had to keep checking on them so I could move my car when one became available. If reception had CCTV on these spots, they could alert you with a call or SMS text when one became available; I'd happily pay for that service! Also of note was the excellent ensuite shower strength & warmth - I do like a long shower, so this was most reinvigorating, too. Overall, it was a great weekend's escape & a very restful experience.

Party of 4 - rooms were quaint/qwerty, and nicely refurbished. Staff were very friendly/helpful - and breakfast & dinner were very good too. Good location on the high street with a decen car park.

Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. Room was nice with a lovely view overlooking the river. Plenty of outdoor seating too so I expect it gets very busy in the summer. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Plenty of car parking space.

The beautiful, half-timbered Bell is across the street from Tewkesbury Abbey. It has a friendly bar and restaurant and cosy en suite bedrooms, some offering views of the Abbey.

Great original features. Wonderful host and very comfortable bed and room. Breakfast was tasty and all round enjoyable experience. I don’t normally write reviews but this place really ticked all the boxes and more.

Donna & Mac are the most amazing hosts, beautiful genuine couple. Alum House was perfect we love the house, very cosy, we had everything we needed under the roof of this lovely little gem we literally cannot wait to go back ( we love Tewksbury ) we have been visiting for many years Alum House will be our go to house, we normally stay in a hotel I am so glad to have found this wonderful little upside down cottage just 10 mins walk into Tewksbury.
