This little apartment was perfect for a home away from home. Clare the host sent a very detailed message with all information for access and a lovely weekend.
Upon arrival it was super easy to access and the apartment was super clean, cosy and modern.
It was very clear the host has spared no expense to provide clients with a great experience.
The facilities were amazing, everything was thought of and it was very easy to make meals and feel right at home. The apartment was warm, cosy and a perfect romantic getaway.
The town had lovely walks and amazing views.

Grounds around the house nice .
This family-run hotel in the centre of Gretna offers a warm welcome in homely surroundings. It is near to Gretna Register Office, Anvil Hall and the famous blacksmith's shop.

A lovely area which provides some lovely walks of varying lengths (downloadable from the Langholm Walks website) and some interesting history. It is a quiet and peaceful and can be used as a base to visit attractions further afield.

At the junction of many roads so easy to go off exploring in different directions. Some beautiful parkland with bridges over the river - and open public toilets! Helpful tourist office with lots of leaflets. Would recommend the prehistoric trail of Eskdale but you may need boots and a bit of energy to get up the steep hills to the forts. People friendly and a useful bakery and large co-op. Lots of buses stopping so may be suitable for a visit by public transport.

The castle & racecourse by the river were lovely, I though areas were a little run-down, but when exploring the town with dogs, you would find those areas. The river walk was lovely, & the town itself was wonderful. We tried to eat in the Pub in town, the barman said we could let the dogs off the leads in the back, but then a young woman told us that we couldn't, this put us off staying for something to eat, which was a shame as the Vegetarian menu looked wonderful.

Langholm is a beautiful town soaked in history.
Langholm is a beautiful town soaked in history. The lovely river Esk runs right through the town. There are several lovely walks in the area, my favourite is round the Duchess's Bridge. There are a few places to eat all very reasonably priced. We had a lovely meal in the Douglas Hotel, the food was excellent, just a small point I felt that the waitresses who served could have been a bit more friendly. I will definately return to Langholm but perhaps choose other accommodation.

What a lovely little town.
What a lovely little town. Friendly locals and lots to see and do. Douglas Hotel had a lovely restaurant and the food was superb. The bar area was friendly and vibrant. Wish I had been able to have a little look in the lovely shops I saw but as it was the weekend I missed opening hours.
The Crown is an old building undergoing refurbishment, but the bedroom and public rooms I experienced were fine. There are steep staircases. Its new owners are accessible, friendly and helpful. The food is well cooked, well presented and good value for money. Web photos of the hotel frontage don't look cyclist-friendly, however I was comfortable leaving an expensive bike in the secure storage area to the rear, and the owners assured me that improved bicycle and motorbike facilities are on their agenda.
The log cabin was exceptionally nice and spacious accomodation. It looked great inside and outside with a nice view of the country side out of the front of the property. The cabin had everything you need and wifi worked well. We also need to congratulate the cleaning team as every part of the cabin was absolutely spotlessly clean. We were able to walk into the lovely town of Langholm in about 10 minutes. The lovely warm weather was the icing on the cake. We shall hopefully return in the late Autumn.
The new owners Sam and Steve, are very enthusiastic and spent a long time just chatting with us. They are obviously trying very hard to transform the hotel into their vision and they have made a good start. I am looking forward to seeing the completed project!
Sam also very kindly is on the lookout for some china for me which definitely goes above and beyond the call of duty!
Very welcoming, friendly staff with high quality - mainly traditional - food and a well-stocked bar . The hotel is in an excellent location to explore Langholm and the surrounding area but is also very popular with locals - a very good sign in itself. The atmosphere in the hotel is very relaxing and we were happy to spend some time just chilling with a coffee and newspapers.
what a lovely log cabin , nice and big for a
family of four , langholm is a lovely
quiet place and
quite central to get to anywhere but be
prepared to drive a lot .
the Buddhist temple is a must see
Very friendly and helpful owner. Perfect location for our cycle tour route. Provided safe storage for our bicycles overnight and advice on the route ahead and Langholm.
