Glenelg is a bit of a hidden gem! There’s a little ferry there that takes you across to Skye in about 30 mins or so, maybe a bit longer …to drive to the Skye bridge would take well over an hour, but you’ll need a car as it’s quite remote part of Skye where the ferry goes, but if you’re a walker or a hiker it would be lovely! You may spot some seals! It’s a very friendly village with a great inn and a small cafe and beautiful views.

Excellent location, the scenery is beautiful.

Excellent location, the scenery is beautiful. We wandered around and explored the estate, explored the local Broch's and barracks ruins, drove to Arnisdale a nice scenic drive. Took the ferry to Skye on a couple of occasions, so much to see on Skye, and whilst there drove to Kyle and toured Eilean Donan Castle. We self catered and had dinner at the Inn one evening which was enjoyable. Highly recommend Glenelg and the surrounding area.

Beautiful peaceful location surrounded by mountains, close to Isle of Skye, Torridon and all the beautiful places of Kintail. Connection with the Nature and History. Great place to explore Kintail and Isle of Skye, also no far to visit Torridon mountains etc. This is our family favourite part of Scotland and we are often visiting the places nearby: Kintail's mountains, Eilean Donan Castle, Plockton, Arnisdale...Elgol, Sligachan, Cuillin Mountains, Fairy Pools, Portree, The Old Man of Storr, Quiraing, The Fairy Glen, Dunvegan, Neist Point, Talisker etc. The local shop was very nice, incl. basic stuff, fresh vegetables and also local beer -DUN BREWING which I can recommend to try, friendly staff.

For a small village, there is much to appreciate, and everybody seems really nice. Glenelg is a hidden gem. The scenery is lovely, and there's a large and quiet beach. There are a couple of great places to eat and drink. The Barracks and Brochs provide insight to just some of Glenelg's historical importance.

As its winter hours its important to know the pub dont sell food until the season starts. The shop is small but you can get booze and limited basic stuff. The people are beautiful. Lots of breathtaking walks and experiences. The best star gazing ever and I've travelled the world. Dress for all weathers, wear good appropriate footwear for being in untamed nature and let the beauty of this place do the rest. The drive over from Shiel bridge is out of this world.
