Staff were friendly and efficient. Room was quaint, clean and comfortable. Parking was free. We've stayed a few times, and would stay again.

I’ve visited Chirk on many occasions for business and leisure. The village is quieter since the building of the bypass. One feature to see is the aqueduct. Nearby Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is famous but Chirk Aquaduct is impressive too. It runs alongside the railway viaduct over a deep valley. At its north end the canal enters a tunnel.

Disappointing. Don't be taken in.
Disappointing. Don't be taken in. It's not really a castle, its a stately home and not a very interesting one at that. Only part of the 'castle' can be viewed, what can be seen is not very interesting and poorly presented and not set in context. There were no information screens, very little signage and what information there was consisted of 'this is a painting of a person you've never heard of. This is another'. At £15 per person (!) this was grossly over-priced and certainly not worth the money

Unfortunately we were returning home from one funeral to prepare for another in a couple of days so we did not have time to visit any where except the adjacent restaurant but it looked a pleasant little town with lots of local sites such as the castle and Pontcysyllte aqueduct

We took a dayboat hire for the family out of the Anglo Welsh marina at Trevor and travelled down the canal down to Chirk, passing over the famous aqueduct. Following day we went to the British Ironworks near Oswestry and saw the Knife Angel sculpture. A great day out.

The hotel is outside Chirk, a few minutes drive. The town is quite small but has a good free car park. We couldn't visit the castle as it was closed due to bad weather. The Llangollen canal is nearby and good for walking. The aqauaduct is interesting. It's easy to get to NT places, Llangollen, Oswestry and Snowdonia National Park.

Chirk is just a small Village but cute and it has coffee shops and gift shops. Llangollen is close and it's generally a nice area to drive around.
Walks along the canal are a bonus and this is close to the Lion Quays resort..
This has got to be one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in, perfect location, we were given room 11 which was huge and very comfy.
The staff were very pleasant and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
We had breakfast in the Hotel and it was exceptional, hot and very tasty served in the beautiful period dining room.
The hotel is in the heart of the village and ideal for walking the Aquaduct and walking up to the castle.
All in all a perfect weekend break..
Staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was spot clean and nicely decorated, spacious and with very comfy beds, clean bedding and different type of pillows. We opt for dinner and breakfast and both were absolutely delicious.
Lounge at the ground floor is beautifully decorated with comfy sofas, different areas to sit down and have a drink with friends/family.
Hotel is located in heart of Chirk, few minutes walk from castle, aqueduct, shops and restaurants.
Has a mezzanine bedroom which is quite unusual. Very spacious as a result. Quiet so you get a good nights sleep. Parking certainly not an issue. Attached restaurant was closed when I was there but you have a brasserie a short walk away and a garden centre with a cafe etc in shopping hours. Chirk is quite close by (25 minute walk) and plenty more options there. Would happily use again.
Swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room all fab, lovely changing rooms at the spa, which self locks, nice showers, hair dryers, swimming costume spinner, bags for wet clothes, towel was also provided. Hotel room was nice too, clean, looks modern. Breakfast was also really nice. Plenty of options and all looked fresh.
The swimming pool and tennis courts were super, and the included breakfast was outstanding.
And the meals that we had from the on-site restaurant were great, with several tasty vegetarian options. The property was beautiful and quite well-maintained. Rooms were clean and spacious.
Lion Quays is a great stop for Llangollen and the facilities are fabulous - I have never seen such a large pool or better equipped gym at any hotel complex I have ever stayed in - the staff are lovely - the breakfast choice is fab too !
Easy parking. Clean affordable rooms with plenty of space. Excellent breakfast.
Perfect for cycling the canal path to Llangollen via x2 aqueducts and x2 tunnels.
Staff friendly evening meal good at local pub within walking distance.
This is a large pub with a spacious beer garden, which also serves food so I didn't need to go anywhere else if I didn't want to. It is however close to Llangollen canal aqueduct and Chirk castle.
Staff!! They were an amazing team seeking to make sure each guest’s needs were met. The location was spot on for what we were visiting. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
Stayed here several times for work purposes and the hotel is absolutely fine. Everything works - quick Wi-Fi,. comfortable room, restaurant just next door, good service.
