Selestat was a very well placed town to explore the Alsace...
Selestat was a very well placed town to explore the Alsace region of France. It was smaller than both Strasbourg and Colmar and centrally located between those towns. Selestat had the same charm of these larger towns and we were able to make easy day trips to the larger towns and the many small villages in between. We took a week to allow easy exploration of the region, including some of the Vosges mountain range. Selestat had a good range of casual and higher end dining options, but without the crowds of bigger towns.

Historical town centre. Helpful and friendly tourist office in main square and get a map to follow so that you don't miss anything as lots to see. good starting point for visits to interesting locations. A quiet place - the real France - not touristic. You can walk around the town. Food (small supermarket) shopping in the town limited to Intermarché which closes at 7.30pm. No shops open on Sundays.

Selestat is small city which has much to offer both culturally and gastronomically. Parking too is easy to find and often free. Another advantage is its close proximity to all those pretty wine villages which most tourists visiting Alsace want to visit.

The hotel seems to be newly renovated and the design of the room and the aspect of the entire house is outstanding. Very comfortable bed, clean and nice bathroom. Loved the nespresso machine in the room! The breakfast was excellent. We had dinner in the restaurant! It was a remarkable experience, very tasty dishes cooked with fresh ingredients from the region.
