It's a lovely small city with many historic buildings, a thermal bath https://solymar-therme.de/ and several good restaurants.
It's easy to walk around in the city centre because there is a car free zone and speed restrictions.
The Greek restaurant Zunftstuben Poseidon is very good value for money https://poseidon-mgh.de/ plus all the local bakeries and cafes offer great food.
It's a good base to explore the area by car, bike or train.
The local wildlife park is interesting for adults as well as children and provides many play activities https://www.wildtierpark.de/.
I also loved visiting the Weikersheim Palace and Garden which is only 20min away by car or you could take a train or even cycle along the river on a dedicated cycling path https://www.schloss-weikersheim.de/en/.

The Deutschordensmuseum is well worth visiting.
The Deutschordensmuseum is well worth visiting.
The Kurpark is lovely, even in February.
Solymar Therme was nice and relaxing but beware: the changing area is open with only a couple of cabins! That's German FKK for you...
The only downside were the graffiti everywhere.

I studied in Bad Mergentheim a few years ago (in the castle!) and have been very fortunate enough to come back a couple more times to visit. It's a charming little town that will always hold a special place in my heart. While I was there this last time with my sister we were able to experience the Christmas Market!

I was fortunate to have a German friend who lives there to show me around and I have fallen in love with the place. It houses the former home of the Order of the Teutonic Knights. Beethoven lived and worked there for one year, and the local spa has free summer concerts daily, three times a day. If you are in town on Friday in the summertime be sure to go to the entrance to the Knights' headquarters, for a local group of re-enactors march into the square and perform some martial music and a salute with muzzleloaders. Then a trumpeter plays an evening serenade from the top of a six-story tower. The local food is excellent and be sure to try the Maultauschen, a local favorite.

My family had a total of three rooms for this stay in my grandfather's hometown. We were very happy with our accomodations; the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of space. The breakfast was excellent - what a selection of foods! The hotel was very careful to keep its patrons safe from Covid by asking them to remain masked when they were in public places, except when they were eating. I would gladly stay there again.
Everything! The hotel was very clean .The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious, as was the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfest was very good and plentiful. The hotel had an elevator to all floors from the parking area also. underground parking available. There is also additional parking nearby. The location was very near to everything. Great restaurant nearby. We will stay here again.
The reception was amazing and the location was absolutely perfect. We walked to the town square in less that 5 minutes and there were plenty of grocery stores in the immediate area. We were bike touring and having a secure garage for our bikes was a must. The breakfast was full of fresh and tasty option and the hotel offers to provide a packed lunch for people on the go!
Honesty - I lost 500 Euro note somewhere. Informed to hotel staff. They informed to check mall, etc.. where ever I went. Finally I checked out room by 11 am. Surprisingly I got call from hotel that the amount is received from the room by hotel staff. It was really surprising for me. They are too cooperative. Thank you very much. It means a log for me.
very lovely small hotel with a super accommodating staff that went the extra mile to meet our requests. the spa was small and “Whirlpool/jacuzzi” only accommodated on person - more like a jetted bathtub. Steam and sauna were very nice and enjoyed a very nice massage. Breakfast as very good with cooked to order eggs rather than buffet service.
We stayed during Easter where everything in the city was closed. Thanks to Ms. Moldavor for her guest oriented attitude. Providing safe space for our bicycles, mentioning the sauna (though we didn't use and opted for the therme), not minding staying a little bir longer so that we could enjoy our drinks at the hotel bar.
The breakfast buffet is the best we had on our entire trip through Germany. The selection and variety of fruits, cereals, cold cuts, cakes/pastries and condiments were exceptionally delicious and very well presented. Everything was season fresh. The staff was extremely polite and helpful and nothing was too much to ask.
The location in the Altstadt. Also the Mörike suite was nicely decorated and furnished. The staff was greeting me by name even though I only spent a couple of hours at the hotel. I love the breakfast buffet with different sorts of bread, fresh fruit, fruit salad, coffee specialty, Kaiserschnarrn… Great service.
Breakfast was good. The hotel has also good restaurant and especially during spring to autumn there is a possibility to enjoy dinner at the terrace. During spring to autumn there will be excellent paths for running/walking/cycling at the neighbourhood.
Excellent hotel in the very center of the city. Comfortable room, good beds, silence and comfort. The hotel has its own parking lot, which is convenient. There is also paid city parking in the square nearby.
Very personal experience, very welcoming staff and pre-visit communication with the owners. Nice wellness zone. Good starting point for bycicle tours or visiting the city of Bad Mergentheim.
Very nice hotel, nice balcony, good and nice breakfast, clean room. Staff not too friendly except staff in breakfast area, she's nice. Good coffee they serve you in individual coffee pot.
