Go to hotel when I am in the area; easy to find and access, basic evening meals but good value and bar is fine. A full service restaurant would necessarily be more expensive.

Political centre and favourite residence of Charlemagne, Aachen is located in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia region. A spa town since Ancient Roman times, it has some of the hottest springs in Europe. Its Old Town keeps important architectonic jewels, such as the Cathedral ordered by Charlemagne in 786, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With a unique mix of styles, the Cathedral is the final resting place for Charlemagne’s remains, and served as coronation church for 30 German kings and 12 queens. Guest houses and hotels in Aachen’s historic centre are a romantic way of enjoying the city.
The RWTH University is one of the country’s ‘Universities of Excellence’, part of the technologic profile of a city that is regarded as one of the most innovative in Germany. In fact, a large number of Aachen hotels have congress facilities.
It is located 65 km from Cologne and 40 km from Maastricht/Aachen Airport. Connections to major European capitals are available from the central railway station, while several hotels nearby will help you to avoid the last-minute rush.
Whether you want to relax in the baths or come to town for a lecture, don’t miss the Aachen accommodation deals available on Booking.com!

Aachen is right at the northern end of Germany before you cross over into the Netherlands and struggles to attract visitors who are mainly just passing through. That doesn’t make it a bad place but I wouldn’t go there specially.

Aachen has a lot of important and interesting history to offer. But this is not the only reason to visit the city as it is one of the few places left in what could be called the old Germany, a country of tradition, character and values. It was refreshing to find that this still exists in possibly Europe's strongest country.

Aachen is older than the Hungarian statehood itself.
Aachen is older than the Hungarian statehood itself. A wondrous city just next to the German-Dutch-Belgian border tripoint. I am Hungarian, and it was great to see how much it is connected to Hungary. We are about a thousand kilometres from my hometown, yet it was great to see Saint Stephen I in the garden of the cathedral, the statue of St. Ladislaus inside the Hungarian chapel. That was founded by Louis I (Louis the Great) of Hungary in the 1370s. My favourite place was the cathedral. I have also been to the tripoint itself.

We went to Aachen for the Christmas market, so we only stayed for one night. All in all, that part of our trip was worth it.
That being said, Aachen, when compared to cities of similar size, didn't leave a good impression. Especially the graffiti (not the good kind) around every corner is jarring.

it is my favorite place in Germany since i like small cities , also it has super location among France , Belgium and Netherlands . Transportation to , through and out is easy and good. It shows a good cultural diversification which is appealing to everyone's taste. Beautiful landscapes and a great university .
Is not far away from the city centre. Although is near the railway, the isolation is pretty good and the noise of the trains was not uncomfortable during the night. In the season we went (January) the hostel was nearly empty, so the atmosphere was relaxing and the bathrooms were extremely clean. They do not speak too much English but they are very kind. We really appreciate that they kept the chimney from the common living room with fire just for us, it was really comforting after being outside in a cold day!
The entire Aachen Innenstadt (old town) is on your doorstep with many charming restaurants and shops around the corner and in countless hidden alleys surrounding the cathedral. We had a large room and two big windows in the older section of the hotel (3 steps down not wheelchair accessible but all other rooms are). There is a modern lift. The room had everything we needed with a built in writing desk and lots of storage plus two spots to set your suitcases. Excellent breakfast buffet with lots of choices.
Excellent location only few minutes walk from the station and the city centre is only a 10 minutes walk. Staff were friendly especially the lady during breakfast who was attentive and courteous (the breakfast is plentiful and excellent). The bedroom
was perfectly adequate and roomy. Whilst there are no drink making facilities in the room the hotel provides hot water and coffee downstairs which was very welcome after a cold walk back! Would highly recommend.
great location almost in the center of Aachen; hotel has own two-level underground parking lot - space tends to be limited, but I was always able to fit in the end, which is not a given at the street level; nice, modern room and restaurant design; exceptional roof restaurant (breakfasts, dining) with great view over Aachen - including the cathedral; free refrigerated mini-bar in the room, replenished daily
Very good breakfast. Enough choice and all arranged corona proof. On eacht floor close to the elevator desinfection available. Hotel is located in the city centre, all shops can be reachted on foot. Small parkingplace under the hotel, costs Eur 16,- per night, it's not possible to make a reservation for ta parkingplace in advance.
This is a clean, modern, well run hotel within easy walking distance of the Aachen Cathedral and other tourist sites. I liked it all.
And here's a shout out to the desk clerk, who was very helpful and blessed with a great sense of humor. I won't put her name on the internet but she knows who she is.
Room was very clean and tastefully designed. The sound insulation is very good, at least from the street side. The location is really great. 10 minutes walk from the Aachen main station but you have a bus station Elisenbrunnen outside the hotel which is great for trips like Monschau, Maastricht etc.
Very clean, spacious and well equipped room, with a comfortable bed. Quiet neighbourhood. Perfect ingredients for a very pleasant stay. Location within walking minutes from the Aachen city centre, as well as the main train station. There was a nice restaurant just outside the hotel.
Nice breakfast with a lot of choice, very friendly staff (car charger was not working and staff was so friendly to check together if we could solve the issue). City center is nearby (less than 5 minutes walk). Overall nice hotel and I would stay here again when we visit Aachen.
Really comfortable rooms, very quiet despite being so close to the city centre. Hotel very tastefully decorated, with warm colours and comfortable furniture. Nice breakfast buffet, with nice bread and a range healthy options.
We come here every year during the Amstel Gold race. Hotel itself is very comfortable. However parking is a bit expensive and we prefer to use the public parking on street which is free. Good breakfast and comfortable rooms.
The good part is the hotel is centrally located, walking distance from the city centre. The rooms were clean, spacious, airy and had a city view.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good with variety.
Good hotel close to the city centre (not if you are walking). The room is big enough for the rates of the hotel. Breakfast is really good and worth it. Staff was very nice. There is free parking spot within the hotel.
Super friendly staff, and clean well-organised atmosphere. Parking directly under the hotel, spacious. Easy access to the city centre. Altogether, a practical place to stay.
Great location and good value for money in comparison to the general prices in Aachen. We were happy with our stay and the hotel was clean and comfortable.
