Although a town of fairly humble origins (agglomerated villages) it has a UNESCO world heritage site : the Four Lifts. I recommend cycling along the canal and admiring them. When following the canal, there is also, at Thieu, a magnificent view on the new Lift (which is gargantuan). We arrived at La Louviere late at night and after a terrible journey. The welcome we got was just what was needed - big smiles with the staff friendly and welcoming. We had booked a family room which was spacious, clean and the beds were super comfy. Breakfast was good, with good selection. This was a quick overnight stay for an onward journey so location with easy access to the motorway was perfect. Would definitely stay again.

The staff is exceptionally friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the added perk of free parking is appreciated. Having a restaurant next door with great meal selection enhances the overall experience. The walking distance to one of the tallest boat lifts in Europe is a unique bonus. It's undoubtedly my favorite place to stay when visiting the area.

Room size is just right, very comfortable, very well designed bathroom (unlike some places), the staff are amazing and it's perfectly located if you want to explore the region (very close to the motorway but far enough to not suffer from noise) or use it as a stopover.
