The Stockyard Sale was our main reason for visiting Roma and the experience was fantastic. The whole place was amazing, the guides friendly and informative and watching the auctioneers at work was unbelievable! I would recommend this to anyone interested in outback way of life.
Make the time and go to Roma - it's beautiful and relaxing. The bottle trees are worth a photo and the food is both generous in serve and next level in taste. Try the age dried steak at the Queens Arms hotel - just amazing. Although the Carbonara could have been better - probably because they're a steak restaurant. And for great coffee + brekkie/brunch go to The Tasting Co on Hawthorne Street. There's also great shops too with something for everyone
Big Rig Sunset tour exceptional. The Roma Bush Gardens were delightful. Good for a walk and photography. (A pity about the invasive weeds!) So many breakfast, lunch and dinner venues to choose from. We didn't get to try them all but the the best two we found were The Tasting Co for breakfast and Roma Kebabs for lunch. Wherever we went the people were friendly, making us feel welcome in the town.
We enjoyed the Big Rig Oil & Gas Museum & we did the Night show Sunset Experience. It is very informative. We enjoyed a meal & drinks at The Queens Arms and glad we booked as it was Friday Night. Roma has a lot to see and is very easy to drive around. We visited the new WQS Distillery and cellar door and were very impressed.
It's worth a look. A tour in the Big Rig is an absolute must. It was informative and interesting, thoroughly enjoyed it, a glass of port with the tour, fabulous. I'm still buying bottles of the port. Good food in the pubs on offer for dinner and other things to see.
We only stayed for one night and I’ve already written a review, in which I was fairly kind to the property while pointing out a few problems. I’ve since read many other reviews, some from as long as 3 years ago, and many of my concerns, which management assured me would be looked at VERY seriously and VERY quickly, were reported by previous guests….. up to 3 years previously!! In our disabled friendly room, we reported…… VERY, VERY slippery shower floor (an accident looking for a place to happen). No hooks (sorry, there was ONE) and no towel rails in the shower. Nowhere to put anything except one towel. The one single chair beside the bed was disgustingly stained, and had only one arm rest (as a previous guest reported 3 years ago) The jug didn’t work!!!! (Although when I checked out, I was informed that it did work, it was just a different on/off action.) As many other guests have reported the exact same problem, maybe instructions should have been provided. Crockery and cutlery were , to our untrained eyes, not clean. On checkout, staff were very friendly and thankful for my constructive criticism…… but it seems that the property’s idea of “we’ll get that rectified immediately” and my idea are vastly different. 3 years isn’t “immediate”. I’d also have appreciated a heads up when I made the booking and received a confirmation email, that checkin is at a different location. Why tape a note to the door of the office when instructions could have been provided with the confirmation email? Would not stay there again without a guarantee that the various problems have been attended to. But I’d need to see for myself that things have changed, and I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to book a room under these conditions of mine.
