FAQs about hotels in Málaga

The Colourful Soul of the Costa del Sol

The birthplace of Picasso is as colourful as an artist’s palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and you’ll find your place amongst the youthful square of the old centre, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.

There’'s also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.

A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga’s most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 10 km from the centre of town.

From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you’re sure to find the perfect accommodation for your sunny holiday.

It is a very nice city. The city town center is just amazing. A lot of activities for everyone : the youngest as the oldest. We enjoy the cycle tour we did with MAlaga tour bike. It is easy to get around the city by bus or on foot.

    Fantastic weather in April.

Fantastic weather in April. Warm, but not too warm for sight-seeing. Walked up to the castillo de Gilbralfaro where you have fantastic views of the bullring and the port and we visited the Alcazaba. The ticket is valid for 48 hours, so can be done over 2 days. We went to Malagueta beach and the casa natal de Picasso. There were lots of restaurants to eat out in in the area around the Picasso museum and the plaza de la merced. It was easy to get around The bus from the airport takes you directly to the cathedral. The centre pompidou is also an interesting building and the harbour area is interesting to explore.

There is a lot to do in Malaga - recommend the Picasso museum, the Centro Pompidou, but not necessarily the Alegria flamenco show which is purely for tourists and found the room a bit oppressive, difficult to see the dancing. Restaurants: book ahead for El Meson de Cervantes, best tapas in town, and Pampa Grill - great Argentinian style cooking, top quality, fab cocktail and wine. Walking around the city itself is easy and interesting. The cathedral is also well worth a look, even if you're not into churches. Also visit the Alcazar.

Food was excellent wherever we dined - from moroccan to spanish, jamon to gelato, fine dining modern to traditional rustic, cuisine was exactly what we came for, and we weren't disappointed. Historic district is extremely walkable, clean and charming. Buy your tickets in advance if you plan to visit Picasso Museum. Centre Pompidou is a fabulous modern art museum by the marina, Malaga Catedral architecture is impressive, and Museum of Music were all just stumbled upon on our walkabouts - we got tickets at the door to all/no line. Latter was a fascinating walk-thru with historical instruments displayed and a few basic ones you can play - kids loved it

    This is a great city.

This is a great city. It's vibrant, but has tranquil parts, has loads of things to do, whether you like art or clubs and fabulous bars and restaurants. The people are welcoming and helpful and the historic part of Malaga is beautiful. Most people land in Malaga airport and drive out to the beaches elsewhere. Wrong! No matter what age you are, the city has lots to offer. It's full of life and we really enjoy it.

I've been to Malaga before several times and will be again, as it's the main airport town for the Costa del Sol. It's a fun spot to spend a night or two in to hit a spa, shop the local market, take in a museum or two, get one's hair done at a good salon, etc. before heading off for smaller places on the Costa. Can also get a reliably good Moroccan meal here. Touristy for sure but you can get what you need if you know where to go.

Palacio Solecio is a beautiful and stylish boutique hotel in the heart of the old town of Malaga. Located few steps from Picasso Museum and Roman Theatre, finished with care and perfection, with attention to every detail. It gives you a feeling of luxury home in the middle of bustling city. Very BIG and comfortable beds, luxury linen, walls covered with wood and mirrors, smart light setup in the room. Big and comfy bathroom with enough space for everything. All in all - would definitely stay there again, maybe choose other room type.

The hotel is central to the shopping and old town of Malaga, 10 minutes from railway station and 20 minutes from airport, both by taxi. The reception, bar and restaurant staff were wonderful, with a special treat waiting in our room when we got back to it at night. I think the room we had may have been an upgrade as it was on the Essence floor (5) and the room was one of the best we have stayed in. Probably exaggerating a little but the bed was as big as a football pitch.

The house was really great. It was more than well equipped with everything you could even think of. The rooms and the beds were better than in the luxury hotels. It is easy to park on the streets for free and it is safe. Nice area. The check-out is at 12 which is really nice. I liked also the decoration with the paintings which were original, not a reproduction. Definitely will come back when in Malaga. Thanks for everything and for the taking care of our friend.

The hotel was ideally located for exploring Malaga's old town. The rooftop bar was open until 01:00, which was great as we were able to get a drink and a first view of the city even though we arrived on a late flight after midnight. There was also a sundeck and small pool on the roof where we could relax after a day's sightseeing. The breakfast was good with plenty of choices. There was a wide variety of restaurants and bars in easy reach for the evenings.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was a good size and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The breakfast options were good and the staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The hotel is in a quieter area but only a short walk to the Centre of the old town. The bonus is the rooftop bar and seating area which has great views over Malaga and a lovely place to relax. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

A beautiful quiet little hotel in a great location on the edge of the old town centre of Málaga, which provides relative peace and yet in few minutes one is in the very centre of the city. Decorated and furnished in simple luxury style with great taste and peaceful colour scales. The standard room was a good size and very comfortable. The stuff was lovely, cheerful and happy to help with anything. A good value for money.

The Picasso is a very small boutique hotel, which is very quiet. We took the bus into Malaga most days. Buses are regular and very cheap. There is a good beach and excellent churringuitos (beach bars) within 5 minutes walk, selling great food. I would highly recommend the hotel for people who want easy access to the historic centre of Malaga without being in the middle of all the hustle and bustle

Staff were amazing, upgrading us to a fantastic suite on arrival rather than 2 separate double rooms, Pool is a real bonus in Malaga (especially as it was so hot with the heatwave). Very modern with stunning furnishings, the old Moorish wall is on display under the hotel which gives it an historic vibe too. Can't rate highly enough!
