The staff were amazing and the hotel is quirky and fun. Very hot water available, good shower, comfortable bed, plenty of space in the room and lovely soap/shampoo provided. The hotel has a great ethical approach and offers to plant a tree if you skip the room cleaning (if you want to). The breakfast was absolutely fabulous, a huge selection of really good quality cooked and cold food was available, including things like shakshuka cooked to order. Amazing view of the city skyline from the restaurant balcony. The finest real sourdough bread and real cheese selection were a highlight, even though I am not veggie or vegan I was impressed with the catering for these groups too. Beware the sauna if you are not used to naked German customs!!!

The city has a lot of roman history and it is well known for its amazing cathedral and the nice view of the cathedral and the Hohenzollern bridge.
It's not a big city so you can visit the most important places (excluding museums) in a day and you don't really need to be taking trains to move around. The city center and the surroundings are quite beautiful: Alter markt, Heumarkt, the river itself and the visits from the "Cologne triangle" building.
Also a nice walk is: from the city center through Schildergasse street (shoping street) go to Neumarkt and then Rudolfplatz where you can visit the roman door.
An interesting neighbourhood to visit is Ehrenfeld where you can take nice pictures related to modern art, graffiti, etc.
If you plan to visit some museums, I would recommend "NS-Documentation Center" (for those interested in the WW2 history), the Cathedral's treasury rooms and the Ludwig Museum.
There are also other interesting museums, like the chocolate's musems (rather overrated in my opinion), the mustard museum and the "Kölnisches Stadtmuseum" (the last one being a nice building with a "Ford fiesta" on the roof.
If you have more time to spend on the city, visit the zoom, the flora gardens, some parks, etc. There is also a big therme named "Claudius Therme".
With the train you can also visit some nices places not too far away: Bonn, Düsseldorf, Aachen or Königswinter are well worth a visit.
Also, check out for events taking place in the Kölnmesse.

Cologne is very friendly to visitors and great to walk around. The River Rhine is very close and a lovely place to wander along or sit along the banks. The streets in Old Town are easy to navigate once you get used to the layout and there are always hidden gems around each corner. Lots of street cafes and bars to chose from, the public transport is brilliant and lots of helpful staff to answer questions. It was a pleasure to visit Cologne and is definitely a place to return to one day.

The cathedral is utterly magnificent.
The cathedral is utterly magnificent. Also the Kolumba Art Museum and Documentation Centre are worth visiting. The Ludwig Art museum is beautifully designed and had an eclectic selection of modern art. Its a very walkable city and the riverside restaurants are vibrant in the evening.

A lovely city with many varied sights and things to do.
A lovely city with many varied sights and things to do. Historical interests: the NS museum, the Dom, the Old and Belgian Quarters. Loved the modern art in the Ludwig museum. St Gereon's basilica and the Antonine Chapel just stunning. Great view at sunset from the Koln Triangle. Lovely walk through the Rheinpark and along the Rheinuhafen.
Easy to get about via train, tram, bus or walking. Little train takes you to all main sights if you want a tourist tour. Chocolate museum great fun, especially the lovely brunch at the Chocolate Cafe. Traditional biersalon Papa Joe's in Alter Mkt. Loved Peking for Chinese menu, Bona'me for Turkish fare and L'Osteria for Italian.
Large room and a nice comfortable bed.
Breakfast was more than ample with cooked sausages and bacon etc and a good selection of cereals, breads and cheeses.
Location was brilliant as it was two minutes from Hansaring Station that is then just one stop from Cologne Central Station. Their are plenty of restaurants and bars very close to this hotel and a bit cheaper than going right into the city centre.
We would definitely stay again.
Everything!! Bur specially a shout out to Manuel at front desk who was just great!! It was such a relief to have someone that speak Spanish in town! Plus he was just very kind and nice when we arrived and when we had to storage our luggage, also I heard great comments about the breakfast at this hotel and it was great!! hands down the best hotel I’ve stayed in Cologne! Plus the rooms are very cozy!
Room was great, especially bathroom. Location is good, you can walk to the city center by foot in 15 mins. Very good furnitures as well. The facilities didn't interest me but there were variety of options. If you want to hang out in the city and stay in a good, secure and clean room at the end of the day, I think this hotel is one of the best option that you can get in Cologne.
The hotel was slightly out of the City centre which was ideal as the Karneval was on. The location is very typical of north Germany so great to experience this.
The young lady working reception on Sunday 12th evening, (slim, brunette) was really helpful and cheerful when getting my wife some English tea bags and serving drinks at the bar.
free room upgrade….stayed here a gazillion times….. worth the extra few pounds to have such a great hotel like this. I always stay here when in Cologne. breakfast is fab…. one of the best on this tier group…..I had an issue w 9th the premium room….. I was moved immediately….. back to this hotel in august for 6 nights….
Probably one of the best hotels I've been to. Friendly staff, free welcome drink, gorgeous decor and right outside the Cologne-Bonn airport. If you're exiting the airport from the train station you'll find it almost immediately. Furniture was really cozy, a lot of leather which I'm personally fond of.
The hotel was great, super new and had everything you may need. Very comfortable bed and best pillows I ever tried!
They offer free transfer to the airport where you can use the train station to get to the city centre in 10min. So we were always right in the centre in about 15-20min, which was great.
The location was fantastic for the Old Town area of Cologne! The price also made it very convenient. The hotel does have an elevator also, and the rooms had a great view of the cathedral spires. The hotel is also conveniently located to the Cologne Main Train Station. Maybe a 5 minute walk at most.
The hotel is in an excellent location in a modern part of Cologne, a short walk away from Hansaring S-Bahn and Christophstraße/MediaPark U-Bahn stations. The hotel is modern, with excellent amenities. I always stay at Motel One when I visit Germany!
great location with lots to do nearby. Room is well designed and nicely appointed. nice cosmetics. really nice breakfast as you do come to expect in germany. They took my suggestion in 2018 and put in a quite nice gym too.
It’s five minutes away from the Cologne Central Station. Pretty decent hotel, they provide toiletries and water and regularly cleans the bedroom. The receptionist was helpful enough to carry my luggage up to my bedroom.
The location of this hotel is just a couple of minutes' walk from the Cologne/Bonn Terminal 1. It met all our needs and was clean and pleasant. The restaurant offers nice meals. We would definitely stay here again.
Really loved the hotel, it was very clean, air conditioning was good, location was excellent, close to everything. The beds were extremely comfortable. If I ever come back to cologne, this is where I’m staying.
This hotel is absolute perfection. Beautiful architecture, contemporary, elegant design, a view to let you know you are in the heart of Cologne, a kind and caring staff—what more can a visitor want?
The staff was extremely friendly and attentive.
The hotel is close to the city centre, to major museums and the Cologne cathedral. Also next to the Rhine. Has nice comfortable rooms.
Quiet location near the main train station in Cologne. Everything was clean and well maintained. Hotel had an elevator which was useful when transporting luggage.
