Political centre and favourite residence of Charlemagne, Aachen is located in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia region. A spa town since Ancient Roman times, it has some of the hottest springs in Europe. Its Old Town keeps important architectonic jewels, such as the Cathedral ordered by Charlemagne in 786, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With a unique mix of styles, the Cathedral is the final resting place for Charlemagne’s remains, and served as coronation church for 30 German kings and 12 queens. Guest houses and hotels in Aachen’s historic centre are a romantic way of enjoying the city.
The RWTH University is one of the country’s ‘Universities of Excellence’, part of the technologic profile of a city that is regarded as one of the most innovative in Germany. In fact, a large number of Aachen hotels have congress facilities.
It is located 65 km from Cologne and 40 km from Maastricht/Aachen Airport. Connections to major European capitals are available from the central railway station, while several hotels nearby will help you to avoid the last-minute rush.
Whether you want to relax in the baths or come to town for a lecture, don’t miss the Aachen accommodation deals available on Booking.com!

Aachen has a lot of important and interesting history to offer. But this is not the only reason to visit the city as it is one of the few places left in what could be called the old Germany, a country of tradition, character and values. It was refreshing to find that this still exists in possibly Europe's strongest country.

Aachen is older than the Hungarian statehood itself.
Aachen is older than the Hungarian statehood itself. A wondrous city just next to the German-Dutch-Belgian border tripoint. I am Hungarian, and it was great to see how much it is connected to Hungary. We are about a thousand kilometres from my hometown, yet it was great to see Saint Stephen I in the garden of the cathedral, the statue of St. Ladislaus inside the Hungarian chapel. That was founded by Louis I (Louis the Great) of Hungary in the 1370s. My favourite place was the cathedral. I have also been to the tripoint itself.

We went to Aachen for the Christmas market, so we only stayed for one night. All in all, that part of our trip was worth it.
That being said, Aachen, when compared to cities of similar size, didn't leave a good impression. Especially the graffiti (not the good kind) around every corner is jarring.

Very similar to York - so praise indeed.
Very similar to York - so praise indeed.
No river or walls but a delightful, compact, walkable city centre with the ancient Cathedral and old buildings - and great pubs. Also a great base to visit Liege (Bel) and Maastricht (Ne) with which Aachen forms a triangle
Is not far away from the city centre. Although is near the railway, the isolation is pretty good and the noise of the trains was not uncomfortable during the night. In the season we went (January) the hostel was nearly empty, so the atmosphere was relaxing and the bathrooms were extremely clean. They do not speak too much English but they are very kind. We really appreciate that they kept the chimney from the common living room with fire just for us, it was really comforting after being outside in a cold day!
We had a big room with a comfortable bed. The breakfast was really great, with a lot of variation. We had diner in the restaurant of the hotel and that was also really nice. The location is also really nice in a quiet neighbourhood about 2,5 km away from the city centre close to public transport. Easy to get into the city but also close to the Eiffel national park for walking.
Wonderful! The family room is a complete apartment with two bedrooms, a living room, and a full kitchen. Breakfast was excellent, with a large variety of fresh offerings. The reserved parking space had a very reasonable charge, and was in a locked, private garage. Close enough to walk to the central Aachen. If we return to Aachen, we'll return to this hotel.
Location was very near the HBF and the old city center. Hotel was clean and had a staff at the desk. The elevator was small but much better than using the stairs upward to our room. The breakfasts were very nice with a full assortment of breakfast food. I most enjoyed the large crusty rolls of bread with butter and jam.
The hotel is in a perfect location for visiting and exploring Aachen by foot. The city center, a wide variety of restaurants, malls and department stores are all within reach. It is a modern hotel with a comfortable bed, large shower, free wifi and even a free mini bar during our stay.
Great location and superfriendly helpful staff. Car park directly below hotel but in Umwelt zone so buy a green sticker for €5-6 Euros before entering Aachen. New park being landscaped opposite but no additional noise. Breakfast was the best we had in Germany with super buffet.
The location is great, Aachen is a nice city, the hotel is very close to it, the rooms are nice and clean, the hotel staff was very friendly, we also booked our stay with breakfast which was also to our liking. Overal we had a good experience.
The location was great.
It was close to the city centre and other interesting for me areas.
The hotel's staff was very open and supportive.
I have forgotten 2 items in the room, which were promised to be delivered via post to other country.
The hotel was in a good location, a few minutes from the train station and 10-12 minutes from the Dom. The bedroom was a good size and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was good. All in all the hotel was very good value for the price
Great location. Easy to get to by car, with underground parking, and walking distance to city centre. Good bars and restaurants nearby. Hotel and room were clean and well maintained. Friendly and efficient staff.
I like the area where the place is located (Burtscheid) with its pleasant relaxed vibe. The Aachener Wald forest is around the corner and the city center is just 3 KM away. The hotel is clean and friendly.
Very clean and big space for a solo traveler. Friendly and helpful staffs. Hotel is well located, quite close to Hauptbahnhof, only few minutes of walk, and not too far from the Altstadt too.
We stayed two nights and were happy with the hotel, the room and the staff. Very convenient parking in the (public) parking garage under the hotel. Easy walking distance to the city centre.
Very pleasant and helpful staff, beautiful indoor pool, good restaurant with a variety of vegetarian options. Very convenient location close to the city centre (15 min on foot).
Very nice hotel in the heart of Aachen.
Comfortable room, nice and clean bathroom...everything OK.
Three receptionist very kind and helpful. Thank you 😊!
