The smoky mountains are nice but Gatlinburg is just a money pit. If you want to experience the smoky mountains I would recommend just staying in Pigeon Forge or Sevierville and driving to the mountains. Gatlinburg itself is like a mile long gift shop/ flea market of triple priced goods. 2 two litter mountain dews were over $13

Gatlinburg was a glitzy tourist trap, which we didn’t expect or appreciate. The artist community was a major plus, but the woman at the welcome store was insulting and arrogant, exactly the wrong person for the job.

Gatlinburg is a one strip town of wineries, shineries, and some adventure parks. BUT, it sits on the north end of an absolutely gorgeous national park that is free to enter and explore. Use the free trolley if you can, because all public parking on the strip is $20 one entry and travel on the strip is slow and easily frustrating. The mountain attractions like Ober, Anakeesta, and Skypark are the best parts and definite to-do's. Restaurants are mostly chains and it was difficult to find "local flavor". All the emphasis on booze means you will run into drunken tourists while walking the strip. Stay a week, do some outdoors stuff, explore the Smokies.

I should have done more research on what to do outside of Gatlinburg. The main town was a tourist trap with the chain restaurants and souvenir shops, old time photo shops and taffy candy stores. Parking was between $10-$20 at each lot, and it was crowded for end of April. Aside from the skywalk, I wasn’t too impressed. However driving along rt441 through the Smokies was the biggest highlight of the trip. It’s a stunning location, just find something to do outside the hub.
Breakfast was not available at this hotel, but there was coffee in the lobby. Breakfast eateries were within walking distance. I liked that I could walk to downtown from my room, but I didn’t have to deal with Gatlinburg noise or congestion at the hotel. Also, after check out (by 11:00 am) we were allowed to keep our car there until we left Gatlinburg.
The location was conveniently located to downtown Gatlinburg. It is about a block from the back entrance of the Village. We were on the ground floor and my granddaughter loved that she was able go directly out of the room into the pool area and then back into the room without having to walk around the whole hotel.
Property was so conveniently located to anything you would need to do in Gatlinburg. Within walking distance to most all main attractions down on the strip. The continental breakfast was also superb. One of the best at any hotel I’ve stayed at!! Great hotel. Will continue to stay at Edgewater.
The hotel has free access to a trolley system provided by the city that makes transportation to, and from the Gatlinburg strip a breeze. The indoor pool was very clean and nice and the waterslide was fun. The bed was extremely comfortable and the view from the balcony was very nice.
The view was beautiful of the town, the room was clean and the staff was very pleasant and accommodating.
The hotel was located in the perfect location; was within walking distance to downtown Gatlinburg. Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel was older but was very clean and well kept. The location was very convenient for walking to downtown Gatlinburg and the balcony overlooking the creek was very peaceful. A really good value for the price.
This is an excellent location that was directly on the river. The staff was extremely friendly and inviting. This hotel is within walking distance of the main strip of Gatlinburg, which is a huge plus.
Older hotel but was rustic, clean and had a great pool. The breakfast could have had more variety. Nice views from the hotel, to downtown and mountains of Gatlinburg. Friendly and helpful staff.
Small room, outdated, but clean. Bed was comfortable.
It was located on a river, so it was very peaceful and quiet. It was a few minutes from the fray of downtown Gatlinburg which was nice.
The location. It was quiet but close enough to downtown Gatlinburg. We enjoyed the creek and the outdoor furniture including fire pit. Our room was decent size and we had hot showers.
The hotel was very clean and well kept. Location was walkable to downtown there was also a trolley stop out front. The staff was super friendly. Great balcony over looking river.
Nothing. There are closer hotels to downtown Gatlinburg at similar price points that are much cleaner/nicer. Booked this place on a whim, it was not worth it.
