History and Sandy Algarve Beaches
With a long and rich history, Lagos is nowadays a famous beach resort of the sunny Portuguese region of Algarve. Including wide sandy beaches and quiet coves enclosed by ochre cliffs, it also offers a lively city centre with one of the best mixes between history and modernity in the region.
King Henry the Navigator chose it as a base for his trips of discovery during the 15th century, and later on, it became the residence of the Algarve governors. The Old Town is circled by medieval walls, typical narrow streets, historic buildings and charming squares. B&B’s and hotels in Lagos’s historic centre allow you to enjoy these picturesque surroundings.
Apart from being an important centre for sailing, the city has amazing beaches, like Meia Praia or Praia da Dona Ana. Resorts and hotels on Lagos’ beaches are the perfect choice for sun lovers, while the hotels near the modern Lagos Marina are popular, as they are both close to the centre and the railway station.
The city is 90 km from Faro Airport, and 24 km from Portimão. Check out the Lagos hotels deals on Booking.com before travelling!
Beautiful beaches and grottos. Great restaurants, fish market, and boardwalks for walking and biking. It would have been easier to explore neighboring towns with a car. We felt limited without one. The people are so kind and considerate and laid-back. The weather in April was beautiful but too cold for swimming.
We spent a week in Lisbon, Tavira, and Lagos. Lagos was our favorite.

A friendly, small city that is welcoming for visitors.
A friendly, small city that is welcoming for visitors. There is a great selection of restaurants and shops lining historic laneways and cobble stoned streets. Don't miss the grottos from the cliffs above from the sea by boat. They are spectacular.

Lagos is a very beautiful small city to visit, lots of attractions are around, which can be covered by max. 3 full days. I recommend the trip with 3 nights in the Lagos is enough, excluding golf, hiking or surfing requires.

Lagos is beautiful and food is good value to eat out .
The weather was poor when we went unfortunately with a family and there was nothing to do of it rained or was too windy. We searched and asked so many locals if there were indoor activities even an indoor pool that the kids could enjoy but nothing.
We had a car so drove a lot to other places for more entertainment. Beautiful place it’s our second visit may return in the future but not in a rush

beautifully tiles streets that wrap around and flow into each OTHER. i FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO USE A map. Beaches lined with red rock cliffs were gorgeous. I wasnt there when warm enough to go in water. Not January! Architecture and history was interesting.
"Please, Baby…for Lagos i want a 5-Star Hotel with good Service„ That‘s what I told my Wife x-times bevor we start our Round-Trip through Portugal. She ignored me and said that wie have to support the People there. That was the best decision. The Hosts Sonia and Jose were like a private Concierge and extremly helpful and very, very friendly. This little House have really everything you need plus a very comfortable Bed, fantastic Shower and a nice kitchen. Book this and you won’t regret it. And, of course, listen to your Wife!
I liked the way I was welcomed by Rafael at the front desk. He was very professional and kind to accommodate my needs as I was traveling with my mother who has some mobility issues.
Rafael made sure to send us to a room that would not require to go up too many steps. The room also had an amazing view to the garden. The walking shower was perfect. The bed was extremely comfortable.
The room was very clean. There was a complimentary bottle of water waiting for us. I have been to Hotel Tivoli Lagos many times and will be back.
I really liked that the property had several pools and was walking distance to the beach. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning as well. I was thankful we chose the rate with breakfast included.
The marina and old town Lagos were a very short drive from the property. We felt like the location was in the perfect spot.
Additionally, the hotel did a great job with preventative Covid Measures as well as had a Dr. that would come to the property to complete necessary Antigen tests for traveling back to Germany.
the room was quite spacious and kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The pool was wonderful and the beach was just a short walk away. The property is a 3 min drive away from Lagos city centre. The closest grocery store was 2 minutes drive away. There is a small cafeteria in the hotel by the pool and some restaurants at walking distance. We stayed for 8 nights and the room was cleaned each day. The reception staff was helpful and courteous. The stay was quite comfortable and relaxing.
Everything!!
Small 5 room hotel. The hosts are amazing and cook fresh breakfasts every morning using local fresh ingredients. Great location only 7 minutes drive from the center. Very private and quiet. And no children to spoil your afternoon pool time. Free parking. Very communicative hosts. We were provided a welcome snack and glass of sparkling wine upon our arrival.
We will definitely stay here again if we return to Lagos area. Thank you Renato and Rosana for a wonderful visit.
This hotel was 10/10, I would recommend to anyone looking to travel to Lagos. Easy walking distance to the centre with loads of cafes, restaurants and bars. 30 min walk to some incredible beaches and right in front of the marina for boat tours. The hotel breakfast was amazing, one of the best I’ve ever had. Highlight is definitely the roof top pool for afternoon swims and sun downers. Highly recommend! don’t hesitate and just book this hotel!
It is super close to many of the best beaches in Lagos and an easy taxi into town. Some friends we met, did walk into town (10 mins), but we were feeling lazy on honeymoon. The property itself is quite lovely when you walk in, and has 2 pools, and lots of hang out type space, if you wanted to not leave the hotel/area. There is a pub/small grocery store next door, and all the rooms seemed to have balconies
Amazing hotel. The location is fantastic and the room was lovely. We got an awesome private balcony facing the sea which I simply loved. The staff were also super helpful and kind. They showed us the best places to see and recommend places to eat. The staff really made our experience that much better! Would highly recommend this hotel and definitely planning to come back here when visiting Lagos.
Extremely well located, inside the walled old town. Good air-conditioning system. All the great restaurants from Lagos are a short walk away (5-15 mins walking). With only 3 floors, the hotel has very few guests at any given time, which feels like an authentic shared house. The orange juice from the breakfast was the best ever - extremely freshly squeezed!
Phenomenal location: close to Marina, bus station, old town . Hotel is very modern , sleek and beautiful. Staff is very friendly and gave a recommendation for late dinner. The hotel rooms are great in design have a nice balcony and there is rooftop pool and balcony. I highly recommend this hotel. It’s a must if want to be close to the Marina.
This property is perfect for a Lagos getaway! We were able to enjoy the views of the marina, walk around in old town, and visit a couple nearby beaches and towns easily. Sam at the front desk gave us great recommendations and Kareem at the rooftop bar supplied delicious food and drinks! Top tier service at a top tier hotel!
Lovely hotel in an excellent location. Very nice bedroom and bathroom and a great walk in shower. Very clean and well
maintained. Staff were always very attentive, helpful and courteous. We would definitely stay at the Tivoli Lagos again and recommend it to others.
Joao was one of the best host’s we’ve had. He was always there to help, the breakfast was better than a 5 star hotel and he helped to book tours. He had always a smile on his face and made this one of the best stays we’ve had , even better than 5 star hotels
The host was very nice! great location and cute sitting area. There is a covered parking garage (12-15 euros/24 hours) a 2-4 minute walk from the hotel. Parking address is Av. dos Descobrimentos 8600-688 Lagos, Portugal.
A wonderful hotel with a great view to the marina, a spacious room and a bathroom, wide and comfortable beds, breakfast with a big choice, nice staff, a wonderful swimming pool on the roof, in a lovely place of Lagos.
We loved everything about it. It was far better than any 5 star hotel we stayed in so far in Europe. The rooms were really exceptional with the décor and the amenities. the staff were very helpful and accommodating.
Loved the spacious room, balcony overlooking the garden and pool, decor - especially the tiles. The breakfast was outstanding, I don't think I've ever seen that much choice, even in 5 star hotels.
The apartment hotel is in a great location with a pool. Short walk down to historic Lagos. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Very clean. Nice roof top views of Lagos.
