Great location and wonderful vibe, the staff were really friendly and would 'introduce' each newcomer to those already in the hostel, and it had a really inclusive and fun atmosphere, great for solo travellers like me. It felt more like a home than a hostel, good kitchen set up and comfy rooms. I was recommended this place by another traveller and it didn't disappoint!

Lovely, caring hosts. Our Suite was airy, light and very well-maintained. Fantastic location and views from our arched windows were amazing. Small beach in front of the hotel where you can watch the fishermen. Street parking.
Short walk (lots of rocks) to view the sunset then we strolled the cobbled streets and dinner at the Taberna do Ganhão. (April)

I could easily live here.
I could easily live here. The town is small and modern and not one of the historic venues that Porto or Lissabon offers but it has all the amenities that one can possibly look for. The relaxed surfing attitude and the pristine beaches make this a delight to visit. Our objective had just been to visit the beach as we reside in a land locked country and this place could not have been more perfect. The surf was a delight to watch and the air and beaches were clean. The people are friendly and the atmosphere was extremely relaxed.

I went to Baleal with the intention of surfing, and I could surf multiple times a day with some great waves. A week was too short. Keep in mind, I was in Baleal in January. The average air temp was 15c and the sea temp was 16.
It was quiet in the ocean and I could surf almost alone during the day. At the end of the day, after 4 PM the locals head into the water.
Perfect week in January for a surf-get-away.
I was told it is good and quiet until the end of April. It is too busy with surf camps /schools during summer.
Food tip: El Chilitio's! is 8 min a walk from the hostel. Great Mexican food and affordable.
Next to the hostel, there is a little supermarket. It is on the expensive side, but not too crazy.

Very nice place to spend one-two days in the complete calm without the sign of civilisation) Few cafes, restaurants, we found only one shop with pesto for 7.5 eur😬
If you’re going there by car it’s perfect, otherwise you need to have a taxi, never saw a public transport there.
In love with the dunes (wide line!), November waves and a bit melancholic mood.

Fo people who like to surf and love the ocean and steep cliffs this area is just perfect. And the food is also awesome but most of the time you need to make a reservation in the restaurants, if you don't like to wait for a table.

The beach and the water/view was fantastic...a piece of heaven. Baleal "island" is surrounded by cliffs and rocks but wonderful crashing waves. It is a beach area but has decent restaurants within a short walk. Get an apartment there with a view.
If I were to explain the concepts behind -thoughtful- and -caring- to extraterrestrials, I would just need to show them the host, Virginia ! :)
She, together with her family, are the definition of good hosts. Their hospitality is beyond what you can expect in every regard. There hasn’t been a place that made me feel more like home yet.
The place is meticulously (!) clean and the mattresses are more comfortable than in most hotels I’ve been to.
The location of the hotel is fantastic, you wake up and have a fantastic view on the beach with sunrise. Directly in front of the door is a terrace with a small table where you can enjoy the - very good and rich - breakfast. There is also the possibility to rent surfing equipment directly at the accommodation, so that you can go directly to the beach from there. The crew is super friendly and helpful - we'll be back, thanks for the great time!
Property is very clean and close to the beach. It is in a quite area but very close to the main road of Baleal with the shops and restaurants. The staff of Surfness Lodge is extremely helpful. They are really going out of there way to make it an unforgettable Holliday. Things like arranging good mountain bikes for rent and a day surfing at Supertubos with a coach really helped making it a unforgettable experience. Thank you!
We stayed in a small room with access to the backyard, it had a private bathroom. Good room for the price. Breakfast was included and we could use a communal kitchen. The people were very nice, the room was very clean just a bit hot a fan would be needed maybe. It's a good place for a small vacation near the beach (300m). Good for friends, surfers, or even couples. Wouldn't recommend for a family. Decoration is amazing.
The room was perfectly clean and bigger than I expected. There was incredible backyard with the swimming pool, sun-beads and chill zone, also it was possible to play pool or ping-pong there. The owner of the house was so friendly and nice and she supported us on many issues during all the period. We spent a great vacation there and definitely will choose this guest house again in the case of traveling to Baleal.
The location is perfect, right next to the beach, the rooms are great, very clean, modern and spacious and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. For the 3 of us it was a perfect stay, a place that we'll definitely be booking again once we decide to go back to Baleal. If you want the best possible view book the triple room, it has a balcony with a fantastic view of the beach and coastline.
Lovely, caring hosts. Our Suite was airy, light and very well-maintained. Fantastic location and views from our arched windows were amazing. Small beach in front of the hotel where you can watch the fishermen. Street parking.

The location is perfect. Couldn’t have got closer to the beach! The staff/owners were very helpful and friendly, they had soft-top surfboards you could use and the breakfast was beautiful - a selection of everything - fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, meats, cheese, bread and even hot pasteis de natas!
Appartment on 7th floor overlooking the beach. You can see Peniche and Baleal from the balcony and the living room. Appartment has been completely renovated, new kitchen, new bath, new floors, new furniture. Kitchen is well equipped. Perfect place for small family or couple.
A nice surprise … a bit disappointing on the first sight but definitely a place to come back. It feels like a hotel in the neighbourhood but this is nothing bad. We were one of the few guests and had the whole area just for us. And not to forget the 30 C pool.
Splendid experience! I recommend this hotel to everyone. The level of detail, starting from the kind and professional recioptionist to the bathrobes and fluffy pillows. This experience you need after long day on the beach 🏖️☺️🏖️☺️
Super clean, homy and relaxing little guest house with 8 beds in 2 cozy dorm rooms.
The decoration is beautiful with wood and a super pretty terrace, 15mns walk to the beach.
Everything was perfect!
The location is just next to the beach.
A simple room with what is essential to stay a couple of nights.
Everything was very clean.
Very good shower (hot and powerfull).
Really nice surf camp! We really enjoy our stay. Sandra helps us with our surf equipment and provide us spots for surfing.
