Leiden is a great place to stay.
Leiden is a great place to stay. It’s like staying in a mini Amsterdam without as many people. Lovely canals to walk around and lots of small individual places to eat. Very peaceful to stroll around with a lovely market held on Saturday and Wednesdays. We took one of the walking tours around the town which you can buy at the local tourist information office. Also enjoyed going up the Windmill, but be prepared for a steep climb down. Well worth a visit!

Lovely city to walk in.
Lovely city to walk in.
All the people we met and staff in bars and hotel were helpful and friendly.
Sadly only had time for one visit - to Hortus Botanicus- which was well worth the time.
Would plan to visit again.

Leiden and its surrounding offers you a lot if you like walking in beautiful old cities alongside canals. A windmill that is seemingly so simple can explain Dutch social history but there are many other interesting museums as well, and a very special botanical garden. Public transport is well organised (except on special days) and you can reach gems outside the city like Spinoza house or lakeside restaurant. The sea is not far away either.

Leiden is a wonderful historical town full of amazing buildings and canals with little streets, mews and squares to explore.
It has it all! Romantic, easy to get around, fascinating streets, lots of cafes, shops and restaurants, great museums, a windmill and a market day.
Wear comfortable shoes and just wander around.
The people are very friendly and it is a young town, as there is a university right in the centre.
Rembrandt was born here and you can see his old School and the studio of his artist mentor.
I soend three days and could have stayed longer.
The public transport system is amazing and it took 16 minutes from the main airport Schiphol into the centre of town by train.
You can use this to visit other towns and the beach nearby.

really pretty small town (after amsterdam) with extremely nice people.
getting around was easy!
i ate both nights at a greek restaurant (rodos good taste), walking distance from hotel, only because second day was monday, when most good restaurants are closed. i had gotten greek restaurant from the internet, really liked their food, and didn't know any other restaurants.
We wish we had been able to stay for longer! We had a lovely spacious room, which was clean and well decorated/ furnished, with a comfortable bed, tea and coffee, and a nice bathroom. The staff were friendly. The hotel is in a great location on the edge of the historic part of the city - a great base to explore from, and very convenient to walk to the train station (less than 10min). Lots of places to eat nearby and a few supermarkets within walking distance too. We loved Leiden and would love to come back (and stay here again!)
The hotel is located in a historical building a short walk from the main Leiden train station. It was also within walking distance of restaurants and shops on the main shopping street Haarlemmerstraat. Note that the building where the lobby is located and where we checked in is in a separate building from where our room was located. The room was located on the second floor. It had a great view of the canal and was also very quiet and comfortable. The hotel had history and character and made for a very pleasant stay in Leiden.
The 20 minute walk from Leiden Central to the hotel is on cobble stone streets that line a canal. People that have large luggage cases might have a hard time navigating here. The hotel is conveniently located next to a popular bar/restaurant, a historic church and a beautifully landscaped botanical garden. My room had a lot of natural lighting and plenty of space to put my things. The owner will work with you if you arrive early and need to store your luggage for a few hours.
stayed here when our flight was delayed 48 hours and couldn’t believe our luck. absolutely loved this charming and authentic boutique hotel. we stayed in room 41 in the garret which had exposed beams and an amazing view. simple facilities in the bathroom but very clean. staff were so warm, welcoming and helpful. lobby and bar is wonderful. check out the Goeie Mie gin company on the ground floor — amazing story, delicious drinks!!
the bathtub!! very difficult to find the bathtub in the hotel at Leiden.
if you can walk by yourself with your luggage, this hotel locate at the center of Leiden, 5 min walk from the Leiden Central station. 1min walk to the restaurant and 24 hr small supermarket.
the hotel reception close at 21:00 but my arrival was 0:00. they kindly waited for my call to open the door. Thank you!!
I had a great view of the river and was right downtown. The price in comparison to hotels downtown was much more reasonable. There was a great market across the street called the Pitstop with delicious sandwiches, salads and breakfast options. The bathroom is newly renovated, the bed is comfortable and the whole place was clean.
The boutique hotel is located in the most picturesque part of Leiden; situated in a 200 year old building; near musea, the Botanical Gardens, entertainment.
The interior is modern and tasteful.
The staff is attentive, kind and most helpful
The hotel's location is perfect, close to the station, and great if you need to catch a flight at Schiphol afterward. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good. The view is also nice from the top floors.
The hotel was in an ideal location for visiting Leiden. We were very impressed with Leiden itself and happy with the hotel which is near the railway station and just a shorth walk from the town centre.
We had a great time in the Rembrandt hotel in Leiden. Checkin was smooth and communication around getting the key and breakfast was well taken care of. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was clean.
Room was spacious, the buffet breakfast area was nice, bike rental option was also great. The bus is very accessible, across the street from the hotel and takes you straight to Leiden Center.
Classic Van der Valk hotel, a bit dated but still nice and tidy with a comfortable bed.
Location is ok, food was fine. Next to a bus stop to Leiden (except when the bus is cancelled).
A very charming room, very centrally located, with lots of good restaurants just around the corner. We loved the place and would happily choose this hotel when we come back to Leiden.
The hotel was so nice rooms were spacious and so nice , the staff helped us with anything we needed and while it was close to everything it was on a very quiet street so no noise
Nice hotel, very cosy room, location was very good, close to train station, restaurants, town center. Very comfortable bed, the staff was very helpful.
