Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart
International Airport. Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus.
The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.
The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.
The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.
Salzburg Altstadt and Neustadt were very accessible.
Salzburg Altstadt and Neustadt were very accessible. The roads, cycle lanes and pedestrian areas were well organised and made it easy to get around. The streets were impressively clean and the public transport services were excellent, very timely and affordable.
We enjoyed some local cuisine, the markets were very pleasant with a good local feel. Day trips out of Salzburg were very good and we would recommend them. The Salzburg card was a good deal as long as you plan what you want to see, do and for how long. As the Spring/Summer season had not started a couple of locations were not available.
Musical events in the city were second to none with a good range of concerts and recitals. We enjoyed numerous city sights, historical monuments and had chosen Salzburg for Music and Mountains in particular. We were not disappointed.
There was a good range of cuisine from traditional to international. Our only disappointment was that in general coffee was not very strong, nor hot enough in most cafes.

The Old town is great for exploring with lovely lanes and alleys. I loved the castle and thought it was very good value for money with lots to see and read.
The pop up beer garden in the square was good for people watching and some great shop displays for Easter.
We did do the Sound of Music tour and enjoyed going a bit further out of the city as it is quite small and you can see most of the sights in a couple of days.
Mozarts birthplace, residence and the Mirrabell gardens are also worth a look at.
It was a lovely weekend of walking, beer, cake and chocolate. What's not to love

Salzburg is a great city but in winter (March for us) it was a little cold and not all businesses are open and those that are open close early by 6pm. We did a Sound of Music tour which I would highly recommend. Great way to see the countryside. We ate at Burgerista...it was an overpriced burger. We also ate at Cafe Mozart and it too was very blah. The options are just not there this time of year. But the city is beautiful. We did a walking tour and that was a great way to learn more about the history of the city. We ate at a little Italian restaurant away from the main tourist area called Antichi Satori. It was delicious and very nice staff.. We ate twice at this little side shop Mister Le...it was delicious.

Customer service is excellent. Great food at restaurants and good beer, although beer quite expensive compared to UK. Loved the ambiance, stunning.

Was advised to get the Salzburg card which was very beneficial free transport ( mostly) and free museums and discounts for other sights and events very useful.
Loved seeing the old town, fortress , cathedral and learning more about history of Mozart. Visited the zoo, brewery went up the cable car , funicular etc .
Found a little gem for Vietnamese food cafe style ‘Dodo’ near Goldgasse. We had delicious soup , pad Thai and red curry and their veg with dipping sauce wonderful. Walked everywhere , experienced concerts at Mirabel and dom quartier. The information centre great ,very helpful. Tip - get a bus map the trams give you spoken information on stops and connections the buses don’t.
No 1 and 10 take you to near Stiegle brewery. The 1 to train station / market Platz area. The 25 to the cable car .
The irritating thing was free transport didn’t extend out of the immediate city area - we wanted to go to the salt mine at Hallein but would have had to buy another ticket half way through the journey or pay full price from Salzburg. Also we were entitled to a discount with Salzburg card but salt mine site wouldn't apply it you had to ring up or go in person .We didn’t want to get there and not be able to get in so gave up.
The location is very good if you want to experience life in Salzburg, not a touristy place. This is a very Austrian hotel that has the old keys, but it does have a lift! The value is great, especially if you want to experience the Christmas Markets and walk to the city center, not far at all. Garage parking is very close and inexpensive because the hotel gives you a discount. There are several very good, local restaurants nearby and they're not overrun by tourists. I've stayed here several times over the years.
We were lucky to find an unoccupied parking spot at the front of the hotel and had quick access to the train and bus station very close to the hotel, enabling you to leave your car there for free and get around with public transport. Room was fantastic as well as breakfast. The staff let us take drinks out of the bar beside the breakfast section (at a cost, of course) even though a sign said it wouldn't be available until the afternoon. We're definitely coming back here whenever we'll visit Salzburg again!
Amazing, clean and convenient small hotel. Despite its size, it gives you an exclusive feeling: well-designed rooms, great restaurant, small yet new and beautiful wellness and fitness area, children game room. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the kitchen staff produces magic (kudos to Sofia). Easy access by bus to the Old Town, you can also get Salzburg card at the hotel. Parking is ample, easy and convenient, which is a great thing when visiting cities like Salzburg.
The price was exactly what I had planned. When I was picking between the hotel restaurant Auerhahn and some well known hotels for similar prices, I wanted fine dining close at hand along with helping a smaller business. This is purely family owned and you will meet the same 2-5 people that handle everything each and every day. One more note on the food - it was some of the better I've had in Austria, not only Salzburg.
Very affordable and nice hotel for an overnight or two, with a decent location, close to the border with Germany and the airport, but also fairly quick access to the city centre of Salzburg. Breakfast was nice, with plenty of choices, nice coffee too. Room is basic, but clean and pretty comfortable. Although it is a fairly basic hotel, it fulfilled our expectations completely, at an amazing price for Salzburg.
Good and quiet location, about 5 mins' walk from Salzburg main station. Room is clean and has a kettle. The hotel lift is a welcome sight too. Special mention to the friendly Michala who gave us much recommendations on places to visit, dinner and even the bus services to Old Town where the bus stop is round the corner of hotel, save us from walking 25 mins back and forth during our 3 days' stay.
It is located on a beautiful property with a spacious yard, big garden and amazing views.
It had free parking , an option to eat breakfast and excellent service from the owner.
The room was big with a balcony and decorated in Austrian style.
It is a little further out from the center of Salzburg but bus 22 stops super close to the hotel and takes you straight to Old Town in 20 minutes.
The hotel was in a boss place on the road between Austria and Germany it was easy to get to and easy to get to Salzburg city centre All the staff were amazing and there wasn't anything more they could have done for us the staff and the people were loverly never been there before but will be going back to the same place and the same hotel it made our holiday thank you kevin Lisa dunn
Proximity to Salzburg Train Station (also bus terminal) and very easy to find; hotel is also a 15min straight walk to old town. We were lucky to get an early check in (at 11am) and luckier to get upgraded to an apartment (which comes with a bedroom and full kitchen), an option we didn’t know was available when we booked the room. Great Austrian hospitality at this family-run hotel!
We booked this hotel because they have a swimming pool. Happy kids happy stay :)
Room was nice, clean. We arrived by car so it was important that there is a parking availabele.
Location is good. Since Salzburg is small it's easy to walk to the city centre and do the sightseeing on the way. Or you can take the bus since there are many.
Breakfast is good, a well- stocked buffet.
Very friendly staff . Nice cafeteria with complementary coffee. Breakfast is superb. The room size is better than expected. The rooms were cleaned everyday. It's very close to the old town in Salzburg. Easy accessibility to major attractions of the town. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel for easy access to bus 150 to Hallstatt.
The hotel is in a good position to explore Salzburg city centre, it has a very convenient parking space just in front of the rooms. The spaces are clean and comfy, the lounge space is very handy, with equipment to eat and warm up food which was advantageous for us with a baby. Host is very helpful and very responsive.
Affordable accommodation in Salzburg. About 10 minutes walk from main train station. Spacious enough single room for solo travellers. Has a lift if with heavy luggage. Breakfast is sufficient though not rich to someone perhaps. Hotel is at a quiet residential area with bus connection to city centre.
I love that its just only 3-4min walk from central station! Its a well maintain building, we get to experience the original rustic Austria style of room. Staffs are very friendly too! A very nice walk along the river behind the hotel leading to the old town is another highlight.
The location of the hotel is lovely, it's on the river just south of the city centre. You can walk along the river into Salzburg in 30 mins and it is a lovely walk. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is great with amazing local dishes.
Amazing hotel, close to the old town of Salzburg. Only a 10minute walk to the old town. Hotel was clean and comfortable. I love that is dog friendly. Perfect breakfast, a lot of choice - everyone can find something for themselves - even champagne.
Great Hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely room which was very spacious and clean. Great Location, with easy walking distance to the new and old towns of Salzburg.
2mins walking from the Salzburg station and in the walking distance from the city centre. You can access all the public transport within the vicinity of the hotel.
