Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Alps, Innsbruck is not only a world-class European ski resort, it’s also the former seat of Maximilian
I’s Holy Roman Empire.
This imperial legacy has left its mark, most notably in the Old Town where beautiful Rococo buildings sit alongside pastel facades and typically Tyrolean, flower-adorned windows. The visitable Hofburg imperial court owes its modern appearance to 18th-century Empress Maria Theresia.
The Hofkirche contains a memorial tomb for Maximilian I, and his life is depicted in frescoes on the Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof) nearby, named after the gleaming, copper tiles lining its entrance.
Flying into Innsbruck Airport, it’s easy to see why the city was so highly regarded. Practically every street ends with a view of the Alps, lush in summer, snowy white in winter. Nestled on a slope is Schloss Ambras, ex-residence of Archduke Ferdinand II, while the surroundings provide summer mountaineering, hiking and golf.
In winter of course it’s all about the fantastic Innsbruck skiing and snowboarding. Ski areas include Nordkette mountain, accessed by cable car and chairlifts near the town’s hotels and B&Bs on Booking.com. Its varied pistes means that several international competitions are held here, as well as the Bergiselschanze ski jump contest. The après-ski is laidback and centred around chalet-style bars and traditional restaurants.
Amazing mountains. Lots of activities to do. The Innsbruck city card is such a bargain! The buses and trams are frequent and easy to use. Lots of food choices there too. Really beautiful city with small town vibes.

Innsbruck has a wonderful location: a charming, not so large city in the midst of spectacular mountains. The Hofburg palace is interesting, is nicely located in the midst of the city and adjacent to a wonderful imperial garden with beautiful old trees. The other main palace, Ambras, is also interesting. It is located outside the city, well reachable by public transportation and surrounded by a great, hilly garden. The picture galeries and ancient furnitures of these palaces do not reach the quality of the top European castles, but are historically interesting.
Public transportation is excellent. The city is very lively, quite touristy, but also casual, a good mix of local people and visitors. Nice cafes along the river and the main streets in the city center. We ejoyed the food of Il Convento and the Trattoria de due Sicilie. Reservations necessary!

Innsbruck is a great city to spend time in.
Innsbruck is a great city to spend time in. It has a huge variety of restaurants, and great shopping if that's what you are in to.
Public transport is excellent, and you can base yourself in the city and buy a pass that is valid for a number of city sites, the public buses, and 13 ski resorts which can be easily reached by bus.
There is a funicular railway up to Nordketter, Innsbruck's own ski area.
There is a very easy student/university vibe to the city at night: highly recommended

A relatively small city among the Alps.
A relatively small city among the Alps. The old town is absolutely charming and fully walkable, If the weather is good, a visit to the Hafelekar summit by the cable car Nordketten is not to be missed. Also, Swarowski World Wattens and Ambras Castle are at a 15 mins distance.
Day trips to Munich, Oberammergau, Bolzano, Kitzbuhel and Zell Am Zee are easy.

It is one of the most beautiful towns I have been .
It is one of the most beautiful towns I have been . I decided to go there Bcz i had a direct train connection . But it was a wonderful place to have calm, quiet holidays enjoying the breath taking mountains and surrounding nature. It is a best place to sit quietly and read a book and enjoy the view of you book a place to stay around the mountains . But if you want to have the city vibe it is filled with people from different places and you can enjoy drinking some local coffee and tea and even wine and enjoy a local dish and taste local gin . The museums and artistic locations are best if you enjoy the local arts and crafts . It is a small town nestled in alps giving you a time to delve in .
Very nice hotel located a 3 minute walk from the Innsbruck old town. And about 10 minutes from the train station. Friendly and helpful staff, big rooms - I recommend the “apartment” style, with a living area, huge size, for the price of a small room in many other Innsbruck hotels. Also very tasty breakfast with a full choice available even if you arrive late. The hotel might look old from the outside, but rooms are modern.
Rufi's fullfil everything that you can wish in a hotel. It's located in a peaceful neighbourhood, just an easy 10-15 minutes walk away from the old town. The rooms are very nice and the beds are extremely comfortable. The breakfasts are served from very early morning. They offer a very big and tasty variety of food, everyone can find something that they can enjoy. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Innsbruck.
Great location, on a hill with a nice view over Innsbruck. 10 min walk from the tram station - 20 min ride to old town every half an hour.
Large free parking available.
We enjoyed the sauna - free towels and bathrobes provided.
Good variety for the breakfast.
Although we booked for a room without balcony (cheapest option) we got a free upgrade to a room with balcony, which had a great view.
The hotel is located adjacent to the river and within walking distance of the funicular, parks, shops and the old town. Our room was large, the beds were comfy and the shower had good water pressure. Reception staff were very helpful in giving us good information about what to do in Innsbruck, use of public transport etc. We were able to park our car in the hotel carpark.
This was our second stay at the BW Plus Goldener Adler Hotel. The hotel is perfectly located just a few steps from the Golden Roof and right in Innsbruck's Old Town. Our room was not large but was fine for a short stay. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We ate dinner at the hotel's restaurant one evening - the food was excellent and reasonably priced.
Absolutely everything! Excellent location, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. But the best thing about Hotel Zach is the staff, every single one of them is friendly, welcoming, efficient and so much fun. They make your stay such a joy. We would not even consider staying anywhere else in Innsbruck.
Hotel was located on the edge of Axams 50 metres from the free bus to Axamer Lizum for skiing or Innsbruck city centre.
The room was exactly as the photos and the staff were all very helpful.
The spa was a real bonus and never crowded.
Breakfast was good. Especially the coffee machine.
"Walkable" distance from the train station and to the Old Town. My room was perfect for a relaxing time "up in the sky". And the view was heavenly. I picked Innsbruck for a relaxing time and this hotel delivers. Appreciated the tea kettle and the lovely scent of the liquid soap
We stayed in three different hotels during our trip in Austria and this was the best one. Great location in the old city area, clean and modern, coffee machine in the room, the breakfast and the service were amazing, staff on top of their game, comfortable parking. Loved it.
Monika and the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and a great way to fortify for the day. The location is perfect for seeing old town Innsbruck, going to the Top of Innsbruck and for catching a bus to see other sights.
Gorgeous room, amazing location in the heart of old town Innsbruck, so close to the Golden Dach. Everything we needed for cooking, kids were thrilled with the bunk bed, and all super clean and beautifully decorated. Truly a treat and perfect.
Really beautiful location, and just a short bus ride down the mountain into the Old Town of Innsbruck. I found the hotel very cute, with some nice facilities, and a really excellent restaurant serving great food
