Pretty little town on the lake, with a couple of excellent restaurants nearby serving local cuisine mostly. Lots to see, lovely walks, hikes and drives. One glaring problem they need to address ASAP. Gmunden lacks a decent 4/5 star hotel. There are a couple which are adequate 3 stars.

Very nice city with a breathtaking view with a castle on the lake and high hills covered in clouds. The lake is crystal clear, so perfect for swimming, or sailing. There are ferrys that can take you to other parts of the lake. Just an absolutely gorgeous and clean city with very welcoming people. Many art galleries and all sorts of exhibitions. We also reccomend Hotel Zum Goldenen Hirschen in the city centre with a luxury design and very nice staff.

Amazing lake town, with a special sea-lake architecture. Small but charming and the locals are very friendly. The room we were in was large with a good sized walk out terrace. The shower and tub in the room were great, it was liking being at a spa! The staff was always working to keep the facilities in pristine condition. The location was just perfect. Centrally located. Only a few minutes walk from anywhere you’d want to be. The breakfast is varied and well presented. I would definitely recommend this hotel, it was quiet and only a ten minute walk to the beautiful town of Gmunden. This is a family run hotel and the owners work there along with an exceptional team of staff, who organised take away food for us, taxis and train schedules to visit other places in Austria.

It has only been open for four weeks but their enthusiasm was infectious. The hotel is centrally located and very quiet, the beds comfortable and the rooms clean, light and airy. The food is great too. We didn’t have a problem parking - there is also another car park a short distance away but room to unload and check-in if you arrive late.

Love the way the owners fixed up this former tavern! It is unique and very tastefully decorated. The lake and restaurants are within walking distance. The sauna was a nice treat at the end of each day.
