Hotels located in the centre of Rothenburg ob der Tauber
This 3-star, bed and breakfast, family-run hotel in Rothenburg is ideally located on Franconia’s famous Romantic Road, just steps away from the railway station, and the historic Old Town district.

The family-run Gasthof Post is located just 150 metres from Rothenburg Train Station, and 500 metres from the Old Town. It offers quiet rooms, a garden and a daily breakfast buffet.
Handy location, value for money and friendly staff.
The half-timbered buildings, cobbled streets and brightly painted façades of medieval Rothenburg ob der Tauber wouldn’t be out of place in a fairytale. Several fantastical films have been set in this gem on the scenic Romantic Road, passing from Würzburg to Füssen via Bavaria’s most enchanting towns.
Uniquely designed gates allow access to the historic centre through walls partly covered with tiled roofs. Walking along the walls offers a different perspective of the town’s colourful flowers, step gables and towers. The town hall has the tallest tower, whose far-reaching views include the large Marktplatz, home of the Christmas market. The Christmas Museum is a year-round winter wonderland, as is the shop of Käthe Wohlfahrt, the internationally renowned German Christmas decoration producer.
On a different note, the Crime Museum houses medieval torture instruments including a ducking stool. Holy Blood and Last Supper altarpieces form the focal point of towering St James’ Church, a stop on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route.
In the River Tauber valley outside the centre are lush gardens, one containing Toppler Castle, a bizarre structure resembling a house on a tower. Also in the valley is a double-arched stone bridge.
The Rothenburg ob der Tauber accommodation on Booking.com includes traditional guest houses and family hotels with a spa and parking.

My family loves to visit Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
My family loves to visit Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The town is very walkable and there are plenty of places to explore for a few days. Check out the museum's and take your time walking through the park outside the walls. If staying overnight take a trip with the nightwatchman. Rothenburg ob der Tauber is beautiful in Autumn and magical at Christmas.

There are many people that fleet through Rothenburg on a day tour but it does help to have a couple of days to walk around the outskirts of the city wall, to truly appreciate the place. We stumbled upon a little playground outside the city walls and it was the best time we had. There are some good restaurants but do read the reviews; Michaelango was a win as was the Taj Mahal. The restaurants and some shops do seem to indicate a preference for cash over card. It will also be wise to plan where to park beforehand and to understand the charges of parking within the city walls. Also, if you drive within the city walls, be prepared for narrow cobbled streets and driving through ancient gateways.

It's a magical Christmas town that I'm so happy I made the trek out to mid snow storms. Easy to navigate and has some fun shops. One of my favorite things was walking around and enjoying the Christmas markets. The night watchman tour was really interesting. The train station is the main way to get there. Easy to navigate from there to the town. Eat at the only Italian restaurant or any of the local German ones. Though make a reservation ! They fill up fast. A medieval town with a rich history and strong tourist infrastructure. Experience a magical wonderland especially during the advent season.

We loved our time here, it was just too short!
We loved our time here, it was just too short! So much history to absorb, the wall to walk, the towers, the beautiful valley! Too little time to take it all in properly. I would recommend at least two days and nights here.

It's one of our favorite places in Germany.
It's one of our favorite places in Germany. This was our second year going to the Christmas market there and third time visiting old town. It's quaint, walkable, and so full of history. This won't be our last time visiting.

A simple, quaint hotel, great location; close proximity to the town centre. A 30 minute stroll.
It was a good atmosphere in the hotel. The staff were attentive, helpful and accommodating.
We ate dinner at the restaurant, it was good value for money. Authentic German cuisine.
Breakfast was an additional cost, we felt it was overpriced although there was a good selection of food.
We stopped here as part of our journey on the Romantic Road
We would consider staying here again if we returned to Rothenburg
Excellent experience. I can't say enough good things about it. The hotel is right in the middle of the old town, close to everything. Its absolutely charming and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable, the shower was modern and had good water pressure. The spa was beautiful and relaxing. The staff were very pleasant and helpful throughout. I will recommend it to everyone and hopefully come back also.
Exceptional hotel with a friendly staff and great location. We loved our roomy suite which had a terrace that was part of the old wall. The location is excellent just a quick walk outside the bustle of the Christmas markets but close enough to shopping, restaurants, etc. Rothenburg is exquisite and this hotel is a gem. Highly recommend and I can't wait to return.
Awesome 700 year old hotel in the heart of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Clean, quiet and comfy with an amazing bathroom and heavenly shower. Hotel was very accommodating and helpful when it came to recommendations and parking requirements. Right on a main with restaurants, in house restaurant and a short walk to even more restaurants. Highly recommended.
The staff were so welcoming. My husband is allergic to the feather pillows and bed cover, the staff found synthetic pillows and blankets for him! I highly recommend thos hotel. Our room was beautiful and had exposed timber in it. Had the best sleep here in our 1 month long trip. The bed was super comfortable!
I had a hire car and was concerned about parking. There was a large free car park at the rear of the hotel.
Also location was perfect. I wanted to be close to the walled town but not inside the walls. Hotel Rappen is about 200m from one of the walled town gates. Couldn't be better.
this place is amazing. absolutely killer location only steps away from the main streets of the cutest bloody German town you’ve ever seen! great owners who were very helpful. bonus that one of the best restaurants we have been to in Germany is below the hotel. get the goulash. wow!
This was the best hotel we have stayed at in Europe. The decor in room, lobby, and the breakfast room is elegant. The room and bathroom were gigantic with very tall ceilings. The location could not have been better. The breakfast was delicious with many options.
Beautiful old hotel in a pleasant quarter of the old town. The accommodations were fun as we stayed in the top room called the “raven’s roost”. The staff was delightful, breakfasts excellent, and the hotel is attached to one of the best restaurants in town.
The B&B has everything that you can think of in the room. Very convenient!
The flower in front of the hotel breakfast room are really pretty and welcoming.
The location of the hotel he best! So convenient and close to the center.
Very beautiful hotel, super close to Plonlein and lots of sites of interest.
Good parking (8 euro per night), friendly and helpful staff, and delicious breakfast.
Definitely a great place to enjoy Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were small but beautifully decorated with high quality furnishings. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was one of the best hotel showers I’ve ever seen!
Brilliant hotel on a scenic street in Rothenburg. As with many places in town, there's a historic atmosphere but with added modern comfort. The staff were lovely and helped with parking our car and so on
It's the best hotel in Rothenburg, I come here regularly and love it each time
The rooms are warm and clean and comfortable. The rooms overlooking the Tauber valley have magnificent views
Excellent location & such great value. Less than a 5 minute walk from the train station & a 2 minute walk to the entertance to the medieval town of Rothenburg ob der tauber.
EVERYTHING!! ….What a beautiful hotel! we totally landed on our feet here and were sorry to leave for our next adventure during our two weeks in beautiful Germany!
This is one of the nicest hotels that I have ever stayed in and I have been in many 4/5 star hotels. It was truly 'romantic' and worth the money. I will return!
