I was there primarily for a convention at the University, Cork itself is a picturesque city with a river flowing through it and many bars and restaurants - however - you do need to accept that food and drink will cost more (although this is a more universal feature of Ireland in general) and that accommodation, even in a guest house, can be pricey.

The good weather helped lot to walk around the city with a baby and we enjoyed pretty much all around. If you go there on weekend remember that on Sunday almost everything open very late and some attractions are completely closed (English market is closed on Sunday).
The location is superb: walking distance to town centre, shops, restaurants, laundry (across the street is a drop off service), the post office, and excellent bar and restaurants just downstairs. We walked to Hotel Issacs from the train station, an easy 10 minute walk. Very clean and comfortable bed. We also ate one of our best meals in Ireland at an Italian restaurant around the corner one street over. Cork is a very friendly city. Great food options. We loved seeing everyone in town dress up and go out on Friday nights.
Incredibly comfortable beds and lovely powerful shower. The hotel is centrally located, so easy to reach everywhere you need in the city centre on foot. Close to the bus station and not far from the train station. It was expensive but then so were many of the hotels in central Cork and we wanted to stay centrally - so not really a complaint just an observation. We were very happy with our stay. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, chose to eat out but the restaurant looked nice enough. Staff helpful and friendly.
Great location in walking distance of very many excellent Cork city centre restaurants, shops and other amenities. Nice clean room in a historic location, close to a number of interesting tourist attraction (Cork Butter Museum, The Firkin Crane Dance Auditorium, Shandon Steeple and the Cathedral of St. Mary and St. Annes). Leisure centre with swimming pool, sauna and steam room was great.
Stayed for one night from the 9th to the 10th of june for a concert at live at the marquee

Room was spacious and all amenities expected were provided. The breakfast was great and the service staff was friendly and attentive. Location is perfect for those with a rental car touring Ireland as the hotel has parking on site. The River Lee Hotel is an excellent place to stay in Cork.
The amenities were excellent and the location excellent for easy walks to many historical and cultural sites within Cork City. This was our fifth stay at this hotel. We highly recommend it for those looking for a centrally located hotel with great amenities at a reasonable price.
Hotel is new and very nicely decorated. Good facilities in the hotel even though we didn't have a chance to use them all. The restaurant upstairs - Sophie's does a great breakfast and has a nice view. Good location just outside city centre but its a quick 5 minute walk away.
Room was very clean and comfortable bed.
Location is excellent - right in the city centre.
I loved the shared kitchen too. You can make there tea and coffee or cook.
Hotel is very modern and new. Friendly staff. Perfect if you are into night life or discovering city centre.
This is not a hotel. The Townhouse is literally that, a townhouse just a 10' walk from the city centre. The room is very large and has its own bathroom. There is no breakfast included. The host communicated with us by mobile so we could pick up our key and access the room.
Room size ok. Comfortable bed.
Breakfast selection was ok. We could choose between 4 different 45 minutes visits even though the hotel was far from fully booked.
Free parking just outside.
Buses to the city centre also going outside the hotel.
Great location only a few minutes walk into Cork city centre.
The staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived early and were accommodated with an early check in.
The rooms are comfortable and the hotel is very clean with nice decor.
Our stay at The Metropole was absolutely perfect! It is a beautiful hotel. Excellent location, we were able to walk around Cork city easily. The beds were amazing. All staff were very friendly. We would definitely stay here again.
Nice B&B experience. Easy check-in. Friendly and helpful host. Very good breakfast. Short and easy walk to city centre. Quiet stay with free parking behind property. Comfortable and clean rooms.
Near Cork city centre ( few minutes walking), friendly staff, clean and nicely decorated rooms, breakfast available, available free parking space, outdoor garden (patio) also available
Restaurant was really good with friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast was also really good.
Good sized bedroom
Location - just 10 or so minutes from Cork city centre
