We visited Tropea in the first half of April. The weather was pleasant and the city wasn´t crowded. Many of the restaurants and bars were still closed before the real season start but there were still plenty of options. Parking wasn´t very easy (and I expect to get some fines in the upcoming weeks).

I was there out of season.
I was there out of season. Many restaurants in Tropea were shut but enough. More opened at the weekend.
Public transport seems limited to the trains. Tropes is on a branch line and at best the trains are every 2 hours. There are lots of beaches to explore.
Access to the hills. Would require some research.

Tropea was an awesome little town!!
Tropea was an awesome little town!! Very quaint, plenty of restaurants, gellato stores and little shops! It has the perfect mix of stores, food, and outdoor activities. I WISH I had planned a longer stay, would go back here in a heartbeat!

The historic town is mostly pedestrianised or traffic restricted, and although heavily populated by tourists it is big enough not to be overwhelmed (at least that was the case in September). There is a lot of good historic architecture from a variety of periods, and many good restaurants. The beaches are not large, but are within walking distance of the town centre, but you need to be prepared for climbing lots of steps to get to them from the town.

It's a small town with a lot of ancient history. I highly recommend taking the time to read up on the history of Tropea - how it was founded, how old it is and many other awesome historical facts about it.
Tropea is not just a beach or resort vacation - I am always excited about the crooked streets, the food, the scenic views and the amazing vibe of the place and the people.
Makes me want to come here again and again!
One last tip - sunscreen, hiking shoes and a basic Italian vocabulary will make your visit perfect )

Tropea is a beautiful area with a great nightlife.
Tropea is a beautiful area with a great nightlife. We enjoyed walking around the streets at night, lots to see and great places to eat. Best part was visiting the different beaches by boat since our closest beach access was not ideal.
INCREDIBLE! On our way to Tropea we had a big airport delay and we missed our train. The accomodation went out of their way to arrange a driver for us at 1am in the morning! They also stayed away and kept messaging us on WhatsApp to make sure we arrived safely — they were up messaging us until 3am! We could not believe how amazing this place was. They were so supportive and helpful. The breakfast is the best we had in Italy and the location of the property is the BEST. You must book here if you come to Tropea!!
The place was super clean, the host was very kind and available for everything. She cooked our breakfast and gave us some instructions on what to visit and how to reach the beach. The room was perfect for a family with 4 members. Tropea is a small town so it wasn't a hustle to go back and forth from the B&B and the centre of the city. There are a lot of spots to park the car and a restaurant right next to the B&B which is very useful when you're craving for a snack or want to eat without going too far.
This is a family run B&B, and you can feel their dedication and hospitality when you come here. The location is perfect if you are coming by train. The rooms are clean with nice balcony to relax. The old town is 10 - 15 minutes away by foot. The breakfast was divine, the best we had so far in Italy. Everything is homemade and Antonio will make sure you don't lack anything and that everything is to your taste. We would always come back here if we visit Tropea again.
WOWWWWWWW and I have no words! This was the BEST hotel I've ever stayed in while traveling through Italy. The location was perfect, the staff was so sweet and accommodating but the room with the view of the sea is beyond breathtaking!!! We slept with the double doors opened and heard the sound of the sea all night. But then you have the sunset behind Stromboli...yep, it was not easy to leave this gem.
This was the best accommodation we stayed in during our time in Italy. The lady who works there was on her day off, regardless we had an attentive person who helped us check-in and provided useful recommendations.
Incredibly clean and spacious room. We had a good sized TV with Netflix on it. Parking spot was free and very close to the place. Breakfast was very good too with a range of food.
This apartment is amazing and was perfect for a weeks stay for my family. Watching the sunset from the terrace every night was simply stunning. The location is perfect to visit Tropea and surrounding towns easily. Francesco is absolutely fantastic. He couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating during our entire stay. Can't wait to go back for another week next year!
Cristian was excellent host. The place is in very nice place, quiet and great view. Very clean also, Cristian kept everything in good shape, and was quick to help if needed. Room was great, enough space. Secure parking included. Nice pool. One of the best places we've been in Italy. Definetly will come back here when in Tropea next time.
This is my second stay at the hotel. This time was even better than the first! beautiful, large room sign two balconies and huge double shower. Breakfast included eggs, meat and cheese choices, fruit, and pastries. Best cappuccinos in Italy! Superb staff. Perfect location—quick walk to the center and the train station.
Amazing location, short walk to the old town and to the beach. Beautiful views of the beach (just two minutes by stairs next to the accommodation) and the sanctuary. Secured parking. Staff was very helpful and nice. Choice of food for breakfast included eggs and bacon (unusual for Italy). Spacious bathroom with hairdryer.
Awesome location and incredible view of Tropea. Walkable to everything. Benito was so helpful, assisted on parking our car, even carried my wife’s suitcase up to the apartment. Also made dinner reservations on our behalf. Clean and comfortable. Great shower. Strongly recommend!!
Could not fault this place. Fantastic location. Fantastic host. Owner met us at the car park outside ZTL and escorted us into parking spot 50m from hotel. Well equiped clean rooms. Very nice breakfast on terrace. Love Tropea. Will be back
Excellent location and host Romagnia was very caring and such a lovely lady. Right in the heart of Tropea and close to the station for easy transport in and out of Tropea. Best beach we have swam in Italy!!
Nice building situated in quiet area. The best breakfast in Italy with lots of vegetables and other healthy food. Fantastic pool with a view. Great and very kind personnel always ready to help :)
The staff was excellent. Breakfast was outstanding. Parking right out front of the hotel. Room had a sea view that was spectacular. 10 minute walk to dinner.
