On a narrow peninsula protruding into Lake Garda, Sirmione is a wonderful town famed for its multi-turreted castle, Roman remains and hot springs.
The 13th-century lakeside castle makes quite an impressive sight as you cross its drawbridge to enter the old town beyond. From its walls there are lovely views across red-roofed buildings towards the trees hiding the ruins of a huge villa that belonged to 1st century BC Roman poet Catullus. Part of the complex included baths benefitting from the thermal waters, and the town still has a spa today on the opposite side of the promontory.
Nearby is the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore with its 15th-century frescoes, and the surrounding narrow, cobbled streets are home to stone buildings and several Sirmione hotels on Lake Garda. The majority of hotels are mid-range, but there are still a few 4 and 5-star hotels in Sirmione to choose from.
Booking.com also has lots of accommodation by the lake in the newer part of town, and its Lugana Vecchia area has a UNESCO World Heritage-listed prehistoric site.
To the west of Sirmione is the lakefront town of Desenzano del Garda, while to the east is Peschiera del Garda, close to the Gardaland and Canevaworld theme parks. The nearest airport is Verona Catullo Airport to the south-east.
As an opportunity to relax and unwind, Simione is wonderful.
As an opportunity to relax and unwind, Simione is wonderful. From the small, easily walkable old town, to the accessible attractions (the castle, Roman ruins, and museum), and the relaxed spritz-o'clock culture, topped off with a lovely Spa resort, it was a wonderful, easy-going stay. You must stay in the old-town, but there is no need to be in the centre, as the place is so small. All of the restaurants and bars we visited were lovely, so you can't really go wrong. Book yourself some time in Aquaregia Spa, it's wonderful. If you're arriving by car, make sure your parking is pre-arranged, as there are no private cars on the island.

Superbly located on Lake Garda with close access to lake ferries. The old town is quite small and ideal for walking and exploring, mostly flat. Many restaurants, bars and boutique shops. Very popular for day visitors, but less busy at night, making it ideal for dining and taking a stroll through the town. A car is not needed to get around and traffic entering the old town is regulated.

Three night / four day trip to Sirmione was perfect.
Three night / four day trip to Sirmione was perfect. Sirmione itself is a beautiful quaint place with amazing shops and eateries and views over Lake Garda. It really has to be seen to be appreciated. There is lots to see and do, including a plentiful selection of restaurants and cafes, most of which come with stunning views as you enjoy an Aperol Spritz! We also caught the bus to Verona, it is a little long - takes around 60-80 minutes but well worth it in a day.

If you are expecting a town full of tourists, well, double your expectations. People flood this town as if it is Walmart opening on a Black Friday. On the other hand, it's a charming and remarkable piece of land, full of ancient roman history and volcanic springs. If you can afford it, stay towards the northern end of the island away from the castle and the surrounding restaurants and shops.
It was amazing time in Sirmione, the location of the hotel is just perfect - walkaway to the main spots but quite enough to be off of noise and people crowds. Hotel has a private parking that was important for us coming to Sirmione by car. Personal is very welcoming and ready to help in any time. The room was beautiful, cosy and very clean. It has more then we expected - there was even a fridge and teapot. As well it has an amazing balcony that offers a view to the lake. Really nice place to stay. Hope to come back one day.
The hotel was in a good location, not too far from Lake Garda and a short bus ride from Sirmione old town. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, as were the rest of the staff. The breakfast was very good, with a selection of hot and cold dishes. The rooftop pool area was pleasant and fairly peaceful with good views of the lake. The gardens and downstairs lounge were very pleasant areas to enjoy a drink or two in.
Hotel B&B il Mosaico was such a gem! We spent the day in Sirmione and wanted to stay close by, this location was perfect for accessing everything Sirmione had to offer. The building was beautiful, the room was very modern and spacious and comfortable for our stay. We ate dinner and breakfast at the attached restaurant and it was delicious!! The staff was also incredibly kind and accommodating. It was overall a very pleasant experience!!
The B&B was in an attractive well kept home and grounds. The room and bed were very comfortable and clean, as was the bathroom which was spacious. There was daily room cleaning as well. The breakfast, served by the hosts, not self serve, was varied, generous and tasty! Street parking was easy in this quiet residential neighborhood near Sirmione and a block from Lake Garda. The hosts were gracious, welcoming and very helpful!
The swimming pool. I booked the hotel because of its location on Lake Garda, but the deck of the hotel leads to a very unnapealing murky dark water, bummer, but the pool compensated for that. Great lounges the pool area and the grassy area too. The A/C was great (a rare thing in Italy). the modern decor mix with the 60's design of the hotel. The varandas were a great place to have aperitivo. Free Parking and free pet stay.
Elena and Fabio are exceptional hosts. Their staff are all friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. Our room looked out over the garden and lake, and we used the balcony every evening. We used the hotel bikes and were given help in planning a wine tour and a day out across the lake using the ferry. Sirmione is a beautiful place, I'm so glad we chose hotel Catullo for our visit.
The view was stunning! Sirmione is very charming!
The hotel is in a very good location to explore it!
Room was clean , bed confortable, breakfast pretty good, you have 2 choices, the restaurant: big and bright with beautiful view or the terrace. Pool was big .
Julya the owner was very informative about things to see and called a taxi for me when I was leaving
This is a very comfortable hotel in a perfect location right in the middle of Old Town Sirmione. The views from our balcony were outstanding providing some gorgeous sunsets. The bathroom was a good size with a very nice shower. The breakfast was very good. The room was spacious and well laid out. We would definitely stay here again.
Amazing location, right in the middle of old Sirmione, great view of Lake Garda from the room's window, the room itself is so beautiful, the breakfast rich, the staff is very helpful and friendly, and surrounded by stores and restaurants. An all round simply gorgeous hotel! We are a family of four and enjoyed our stay tremendously.
Very nice hotel. We stayed here before and we will continue to visit. The room way very clean with a nice balcony .The staff speaks english very well. Really nice parking in the hotel garage. We also rented bicycles at the hotel, which was really nice to travel arround Sirmione. They also have a nice pool.
Location is great and free parking right outside hotel. Close to shops, easy transportation to the old town and the owner spoke excellent English. Very welcoming and provided us with everything we needed. Lots of restaurants close by and a supermarket. No fridge in the room, but good value for the area.
The hotel is wonderful! You can’t ask for better location. Sitting in the lounge chairs overlooking the lake is breathtaking. Staff is world class! Delicious breakfast, restaurant and bar! Take a dip in the lake then hop in Terme pool! location is prime and do venture out to Jamaica Beach.
Loved the peace and serenity after travelling around Italy for 5 weeks. Francesca is a breath of fresh air and can't be more delightful and helpful. It's a great base for visiting Lake Garda and a great place to rest after hectic days.
