Portorož is the most popular beach resort on Slovenia’s small but undulating coastline. It was first developed as a health resort and several spas remain. The largest is the Terme & Wellness LifeClass Portorož, offering treatments using local products such as salt pan mud, seawater and thermal mineral water.
The huge complex is surrounded by some of the 4 and 5-star hotels available on Booking.com. Nearby is the Hotel Kempinski Palace, a historic property built in 1910 as a retreat for Austro-Hungarian officials. Other Portorož accommodation options include guest houses with pools and beachfront apartments.
The beaches are of course why most people come. The main, sandy beach is awash with colourful parasols in summer, while offshore watersports include diving and water skiing. Boat trips from the marina sail along the coast and even to Venice and Trieste in Italy.
As the temperature cools down, the nightlife heats up as people start hitting the bars and clubs. Several casinos also provide another way to spend some time…and money, and there are also relaxed restaurants where you can enjoy the sunset.
Portorož Airport is just south of the city and in the opposite direction is Piran whose Venetian old town spread over a promontory provides a more cultural offering.

Lovely place for long weekend, great place for spring and autumn. We are visiting this place twice a year for very long time. Not the best place for summer vacation, but for long weekend it is one of the best places.

Very nice swimming pools with sea and termal water.
Our food was delicious, especially sea food. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms we stayed in were very neat and tidy.
Although there were not enough parking spaces, the staff tried very hard to provide us with payable parking.

A very bad experience, from everything that can be said about a hotel that does not respect itself.
We booked a Mosim room, paid in advance and received "another product",
Although there was a lack of reference, and the answer was
"Sorry. Although you did not receive the room you paid for and booked a month ago,
The hotel is full and you are welcome to stay in the room even though it is bad and not suitable for the reservation. Unprofessionalism, indifference and disdain even though they realized they were wrong,
And they didn't try to solve the problem they had. We paid full price, and we did not receive the product (a room that did not match our wishes and conditions) and we did not even receive a refund for the difference between the room we ordered and the room we received.

A beautiful resort- we went in September. An unknown gem to British tourists. I imagine too crowded in main summer months. The area is stunning- short bus ride to Piran- which is beautiful and interesting. Swimming in the Adriatic is wonderful.

beautiful and vibrant riviera with a charming atmosphere.
beautiful and vibrant riviera with a charming atmosphere. Lots of shops and great restaurants. Unfortunately, though, you have to pay for parking (1,5 EUR per hour until 22:00), for this I highly recommend the EasyPark app, which made this duty much easier for me.
As for the beaches, here I was slightly disappointed. There are only city beaches which are not great, or stone beaches under big cliffs. All in all, you have to search and drive around.
We ended up going to Fiesa Beach near Piran, which was relatively pleasant to sit on and the snorkeling was not boring. For example, I even saw a squid here, which I hadn't seen before in Bali.
Very nice apartment with 2 large bedrooms, 1 large bathroom, kitchen and
dining room that suits families.
The apartment is well equipped: oven, micro, tv, air conditioner provide a
pleasant stay.
It has a large terrace (with a table for 8) overlooking Portoroz and the sea
where you can relax after a long day.
The apartment has a large car park.
Approx. 350m walk from the city centre and the seaside.
Hosts are amazing. 😊Miklus thanks for everything.
Clean, fresh, nice views, good location, lovely baths in both jacuzzi and sea, luxurious living. Easy to get in touch with the management, fast replies. Excellent restaurant in the camping grounds nearby, Takamaka Coctails & Food, with delicious food and stunning sunsets. Lots of more restaurants in Portoroz Center, about 20-30 min walk. We really enjoyed our stay in Floating Sea Houses Marina Lux, Portoroz and Slovenia, we’ll be back!
As always from the first moment that we arrived everything was just perfect.
Staff is so polite and friendly. Check it went very smooth. Our room was clean and very comfy. Bed was soooooo good. We slept like baby's. And the view from the balcony is absolutely amazing.
Breakfast was very good with so many variations.
We enjoyed out time at Bernardin hotel once more.
The beautiful hotel itself is a historical buliding which is kind of a simbol of Portoroz. It is located in the heart of the city, very close to the beach. All staff members are kind. If you stay there in the first part of the week, it is super pleasent, however, if you stay for the weekend too, you will feel it crovded (around the pool area, during breakfast, etc.).
The hotel was a very good choice. The half-board had a variety of dishes, the kitchen was excellent. The receptionists are very nice and helpful. The room was cleaned perfectly. Free and safe parking. The location is excellent, close to Piran and a pleasant walk to central Portoroz. The view of the sea from the wellness was amazing. We will come again. 💯
The hostel is very close to the beach 50m maybe. The airconditioner worked well. The kitchenette is little but it was enough for 3. The young staff was very helpful. Do not wait a 5star hotel. It is a dormitory in the school time :). To have a place to sleep in a comfortable bed, close to the see, close to Portoroz, close to Piran it is PERFECT!
It was super clean, terrace view is probably one of the best in Portoroz! Apartment is quite big, kitchen fully equipped and apartment in general is fully equipped.
Hosts were so helpful and friendly, they helped us with some local info, important for our stay, and gave us some kind gifts.
The room was exceptional. Big room and bathroom, bed very comfortable. The staff was very kind, good service on everything. The music on the background in all the hotel areas was great. We really liked the cocktails from the bar. Breakfast had a lot of choices. Really recommend this hotel
Everything, it was just amazing! The hotel is super modern and I would say luxurious. The rooms are new, the staff is kind and the breakfast was super rich and tasty with an overwhelming view at the sea and the city of Portoroz. The best stay on our roadtrip was definitely in this hotel.
The room and the location were great. The view from hotel room was perfect. It was pleasure to be in this hotel in Portorož. Room was clean, food was good. I really recommend this hotel in Slovenian Istria.
The hotel is on a great location in sweet little place of Portoroz. It has everything that you need for a relaxed stay. Very kind and helpful staff, delicious breakfast, good and clean spa.
Everything was perfect. The host was very nice, welcoming and helpful. He gave us ideas what to see and where to go in Portoroz. Definitely coming back.
Breakfast was ok. Perfekt was Marine world with pools. Although 10€ for umbrella was a bit too much. We also liked the promenade to Piran And Portoroz.
