We drove to the city center and took pictures of the Trogan horse used in the movie of Troy. There are restaurants and pastry shops all along the waterfront. It's a great place for dinner and an evening stroll. We only walked along water front so I'm not able to comment on the rest of the city.

Really nice city, with good restaurants, a lot of shops and good people, it was also near to two turkish islands Bozcaada and Gökçeada, we got to visit Bozcaada and it was really lovely however the only possibility to get to the port is by car or bus. We loved the Naval museum, but you need around an hour-hour and a half to really visit everything.

Wonderful laid back city and surroundings; a great '' Citta Slow ''
Seaside city with wonderful views, nearby convenient public beaches, historical sites.
Wandering around in Ancient city of Troy and watching sunset over Assos hilltop on Athena Temple with Seaside view were great and not to miss.
The dardanelles strait is beautiful on both sides and recommend to cross it with ferry boat for a soothing experience.
Do not forget to try local seafood, calamari and sweets of peynir helvasi.
Just watch out that on Monday some museums are closed.

Canakkale is MUCH cooler than what we expected.
Canakkale is MUCH cooler than what we expected. I recommend at least 3 nights there. We visited Gallipoli and Troy in one day but wished we had more time to spend just hanging out in Canakkale the town. Very young, cool population due to the university. Great places to go out at night also.
This one of the best places we stayed at in Turkey.
Cozy is the word: it is a very lovely, family owned boutique hotel between çanakkale and troy, making it very easy to reach both places by car. There is a fantastic view directly on the strait of dardanelles.
The owner and family are very lovely and offer a homemade dinner and massive turkish breakfast (with eggs) and while in a convenient place, it’s out of the most touristy areas. Fair warning: you’ll need a car to reach it.
Convenient location if you’re driving, roughly 15 minutes from both the town of Çanakkale or the site of ancient Troy. It is also right by the sea, our room had a sea view balcony which was very nice. The breakfast had a good variety of items and was pretty good. Food from the restaurant was also very decent. Staff was mostly quite friendly and helpful but most didn’t speak much English.
The hotel is in a good location only a few minutes walk from the boardwalk and the ferry terminal. The room is clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff is great too. We sat outside and talked for several hours. They even helped me to set up a Gallipoli tour for the following day and gave me instructions on how to get to Troy using the minibus. Definitely recommend.
We are for the first time in Turkey and we’ve spent a night at Helen Hotel on our way to Didim. The people at Helen made us feel very comfortable, warmly welcoming us. Our room was very clean, good bed, good breakfast and they also provided us refresments and a little gift for the way. I have heard many about turkish hospitality and here we lived it.
We had a great stay at the hotel. The staff were very helpful and nice. It has an agreement with a nearby beach for the sunbeds on on of the best beaches of the island. It also had lots of places to hang out wet items!! The breakfast and the dinners were also excellent. They provided good advice for other restaurants or activities on the island.
It is a low season, so we arrived to the hotel that looked totally desolate and abandoned. This initially caused some panic on both sides, but the room turned out to be spacious, the bed comfortable enough and the kitchen very efficient - both the dinner and the breakfast was well above our expectations.
Wonderful location, wonderful breakfast, and such a kind and gracious host in Resat Bey. One of the high points of our trip to Turkey, and probably the place we felt most at home and welcomed, in a country that was extremely welcoming and kind. Thank you so much for hosting us.
This hotel has a really great location, you can explore the city of Canakkale and everything is just a short walking distance away. For those travelling by car there are some parking slots nearby. The stuff is very kind, helpful and always there for you.
The staff at Set Ozer Hotel were amazing. They assisted me in parking my car in a parking lot behind the property. They laundered our clothes at an inexpensive rate. The breakfast was delicious! The room was very nice with comfortable beds.
A good small hotel in the very center of Canakkale, close to all sights. Very friendly and helpful staff. Organized a Troy tour for us and helped with taxi at the departure. Good breakfast. Everything clean and comfortable.
We were a group of 6 staying in one of the larger family rooms. The hotel is located in a great spot, walking distance from the marina full of great restaurants and nightlife. We really enjoyed the breakfast served here.
Stayed for one night, everything was super. Very polite and helpful staff, ready to help with any question. The room was tiny but very cozy. Breakfast is usual for Turkey, but everything is fresh and very tasty!
The cheapest hotel in Canakkale, for the budget conscious. Yes, small rooms. But, two comfortable beds, hot, powerful shower, and it's quiet. Staff are friendly and I would stay here again.
The hotel is close to the downtown and easy to be found. The breakfast was amazing. The staff was amiable and helpful, only didn`t understand much English.
