Amazing and spacious room, and I was surprised to find a very comfortable bathtub! There's a lot of character in the room's furnishings and the bed is lush. Staff is very friendly, and breakfast tasted delicious! The city centre and local park are both within walking distance.

We were in Ipswich to watch the last championship match of the season at Portman Road.
We arrived on the Friday night and shared an amazing tomahawk steak at "The Grill At Twenty5" which had a lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff.
We watched the match on Saturday and spent the rest of the day soaking up the atmosphere with the wonderful Ipswich fans.
After sobering up and taking a break from the wonderful sun shine, we had our evening meal at Mariners in the marina which hosts a French restaurant on a restored 19th century boat with heaps of history and character.
We had to leave early on Sunday but would have loved to explorer further afield.
Will be back next season to see a premiership game (ticket permitting).

i liked Ipswich ,the town is small but with very nice old architecture from Tudor era, mix with Victorian style of course the moderns one are present there too. The coffee shop are the best you will remember Ipswich for this for a very long time. There is a park to visit which is very close to the centre. Suggestion: walk in the park visit the Christchurch Mansion Museum for free go to the top but when you come back take the streets along the park you will meet with beautiful, beautiful houses. In Ipswich you don't get lonely the people are very nice there , they are quick to know you and have a chat. Then there is Marina....a good place for a restaurant where you find different dishes from different countries. Then there is a football stadium too. There is lots to see around Ipswich. There are two important markets with bus station so from Cat Market I travel by bus to WoodBridge, Kersey and Felixstowe with best fish and chips etc the villages are one more appealing then other that I recommend you to visit.

Maybe we are not looking in the right places but our view of Ipswich is that of a run-down, sad town. Even the waterfront seems an unhappy place.
The nicest hotel-run restaurant we could find for breakfast by the waterfront was probably a lovely place at some point but was worn out and in desperate need of redecoration. We run away from Ipswich for the third time, to decompress in beautiful Suffolk countryside where there are dozens of nice, well looked after towns

I've lived in Ipswich for a good 15+ years.
I've lived in Ipswich for a good 15+ years.
Since my return it has changed for the worse and just feels empty and lacking of anything worthwhile to do.
Parks are good (mainly in the town), lots of charity shops, bookies and pubs but lots of high street shops have closed or just boarded up.
Out of the town, lots of nice pubs to visit and walks if you have a pet or two.

The city has easily available, if you have a car, or like a walk. Access to supermarkets for us as we prefered to dine-in. Plus easy access to points of interest in Suffolk. Great selection of National Trust properties within day-trip distance.

We visit Ipswich Atleast once a year to see family, it is a pleasant city with plenty to see and do. If you are driving I recommend paying close attention to your satnav because the roads can be slightly confusing! There is a lot of history behind Ipswich which can be fascinating also. There are plenty of places to dine and drink whether that’s at a local McDonald’s or a restaurant you won’t be short handed.
This budget hotel is very well located in the heart of the town centre of Ipswich with all its attractions including shopping, bars and restaurants very close by.
The rooms are basic yet relaxing with an excellent comfortable bed with nice linen, pillows and duvet.
Excellent modern flat screen television and brilliant Wi-Fi.
The staff and management were friendly, efficient, and professional throughout the stay.
Great place to stay, highly recommended.
The hotel is very well located for the station, town centre and marina. It has a good set up on the ground floor with a comfortable bar area and restaurant with a terrace onto the river. Bed was comfortable and shower was decent. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was very nice. The man covering breakfast service usually does maintenance apparently, but he was a great ambassador for Ipswich and very welcoming.
We used the Carlton for a one night stop on our recent cycle tour. Fantastic value at £56 including continental breakfast. We had a good sized, airy en suite twin room on the second floor. The staff were very helpful with our bicycles and the hotel is generous with complimentary tea, coffee and milk etc. It is well placed for Ipswich town centre and we were all together very satisfied with our stay.
Supurb location right on the quay side with a selection of restaurants available close by (and in the hotel). Close to town centre but lovely quiet location. All the buildings in the area are converted from disused dockyard factories and warehouses. Lots of the original features have been retained making for a unique style. Nice sized rooms with good quality furniture and decoration.
Everything was perfect, the room was spotless, the hotel position was amazing, short walk too the centre, lots of nearby shops. Staff helpful. Housekeeping incredible. Lovely gesture for the children they left a bedtime story on his bed. Biscuits and coffee and tea making facilities un the room too. Considering its on a busy road you can not hear anything.
The location was terrific. Steps from the main downtown with its groceries and restaurants. We were able to walk to the Ipswich Town football match. The apartment had a full kitchen, good Telly and wireless. Beds were comfortable. Secluded off the street parking.
This hotel is well located to where I work whilst in Ipswich which I find very convenient. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the food is very good and well priced. I am also pleased by the private parking facilities and the pleasant and helpful staff.
Cleanliness: The hotel maintained level of cleanliness, which greatly contributed to a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere.
Convenient Location: The hotel's easy-to-find location was a definite plus, making it accessible and hassle-free to locate.
An excellent hotel well positioned near A14. Staff friendly, helpful & attentive, room very clean. Facilities include a gym and swimming pool. Breakfast amazing. Would stay again if in the area (were there for my sister's funeral)
Novotel hotel is in a good location in the centre of ipswich. Easy to travel to places and food shops near by. We found parking at the hotel and it was £6 per night with about 50 car parking spaces.
The facility is sparkling clean in a good location close to town centre, train and bus stations.
The studio room is lovely and equiped with every household facility you can think of.
The location was ideal for our trip. we stayed in one of the garden rooms and although were a little tired looking, it was fine for one night. Food in the bar area was excellent !
