A Feast for the Senses
A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.
The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.
Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.
For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Bad place to eat healthily.
Bad place to eat healthily. Visibly obese teenagers show that food in education has yet to be introduced. There is no serious bread to be had, only sponge bread that I thought had disappeared in the last century. What is boasted as sour dough bread is a travesty, with sugar added. Sugar is for cakes. Organic vegetarian restaurants are absent. There are only two small organic food stores in this metropole.
Public transport gets you almost everywhere, for a modest cap sum. Air quality is poor on account that all buses stil run on diesel. Electric buses for this small city should be mandatory.

Plenty to do.
Plenty to do. Alexander McCall Smith’s Scotland Street book locations were the highlight of our stay. Highly recommended is Valvona and Crolla deli and cafe. National Gallery excellent. Scottish Parliament worth a visit. Cote good for food and the Cumberland Bar good too. Wetherspoons good for budget eating and drinking. Walking ok for fit people. Maybe too hilly for some. Princes Street and the Royal mile extremely busy.
The Voco Edinburgh Haymarket hotel is a short walking distance from the Haymarket Tram and train station. Great location to get to the old Town city center of Edinburgh - within 10-15 min walk assuming you are good at following a map and can find the street names on the buildings. The staff is very friendly. Loved having a managed sit down area for breakfast. Very good selection of breakfast foods - both hot and cold. Loved having all the toiletries in large containers. You don't need to bring your own. Very comfortable room.
We had a brilliant stay in Edinburgh, the hotel were brilliant. We were surprized by the size of the room, as we expected something smaller. The bathroom was a really good size with all the necessary toiletries.
The staff was brilliant, very helpful, they kept our luggage both on the day or arrival and departure.
The hotel is right in the centre, 1 minute walk to the royal mile. It is a brilliant location if you want to explore Edinburgh city centre.
We really enjoyed our stay and we will be going back again.
Great location between George and rose street in new town. Very close to the tram to get from and to the airport. The walk to old town, the royal mile and Edinburgh Castle was just a short and easy to do. But most of all the staff was very responsive, great to work with and very helpful during our stay. I can not say enough about the staff and location proximity to everything you want to do, plus a great view of Edinburgh Castle from the front door!
very centrally located so that we could walk most places in old town and new town. There is no on site restaurant but that was not an issue for us because there are so many fabulous restaurants and pubs nearby. We also enjoyed exploring the area on foot, so bring comfortable shoes! Edinburgh is a beautiful city to explore and the Princes Street Suites made for a wonderful place to rest at the end of the day.
The hotel is close to the train station and right off the Royal Mile, which is the heart of the Old Town. It is a close walk to many of Edinburgh's attractions. Other advantages: large sunny room with high ceilings; gorgeous view of the Walter Scott Monument; kitchenette with tea kettle, fridge, and sink; nice big bathtub; free self-service laundry in the basement.
Clean hotel, everyone was friendly and welcoming. The bed was big and comfortable and the room was a decent size. A breakfast is available for £13 per person and it is definitely worth it to pay for it. The hotel is located outside of Edinburgh but just a few minutes walk away is a bus stop with buses running every other minute into the city centre.
Lovely clean hotel in a great location. Breakfast was made to order and delicious. Staff are very polite and helpful.
The hotel is surrounded by the best seafood restaurants in Edinburgh. Leith is a great base, lots of lovely restaurants and within easy access to the city centre. Also offers a great bus service.
Edinburgh is very expensive so finding a good place to stay in transit is a challenge. This hotel is on the main airport bus route into the city centre but only 15 minutes from the airport with excellent bus links. There is a busy bar restaurant in the hotel and other restaurants and shops nearby.
Location was excellent. In new town but close to old town so you can enjoy all of Edinburgh. Apartments were roomy and we'll equipped. Check in and out was easy. Staff was very responsive. We had an issue with the clothes washer that was quickly addressed. Really appreciated the quick response.
The hotel is near the city centre, it seems modern and the furniture is almost new. Personal is very nice and the process to check in and check out is easy to do. The look for our luggage while we do a 2-day trip near the city and we are very grateful for that.
The location was OK, nice bars, cafes and restaurants a short walk away and nicely away from the worst city centre hassle. People behind the desk were friendly. This was the cheapest option in Edinburgh for our dates and the next best thing to a hostel.
Ideally located out of Edinburgh city centre for those wanting to avoid traffic jams.
Warm welcome on arrival and really friendly staff.
Modern hotel with good facilities.
Breakfast was the best of our trip.
The Yotel Edinburgh is perfectly located near Princes Street in the City Centre. It‘s very clean and modern, it has a hotel bar and nice personell. Everythings fine - i‘m definitely coming back!
The location was excellent - very central. Edinburgh castle, Holyrood, Old Town, New Town, Princes Street all within easy walking distance. Buses, trams and trains nearby also.
Location to airport and tram stop into Edinburgh city centre and attractions. Compared to other hotel's you get what you pay for. All in all, it was value for money.
The location. The hotel is just in the middle of Edinburgh's Old Town, so most of the historic and sightseeing places are very near. The breakfast was very good too.
For my final 3 nights in Scotland I booked a room at Ediburgh House Hotel. It was on Pilrig street near a lot of pubs and restaurants in Leith, Edinburgh.
Room was a good size.Staff were very helpful and friendly.Bed was very comfortable. The hotel was in a great central location for Edinburgh city centre.
