Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.
Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.
From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Centre, shopping in Cardiff is a delight. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants in which to rest awhile. Those by Cardiff Bay offer particularly pleasant views.
Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre. Another year 2000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and football matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.
Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city centre.

Cardiff is an amazing city - from short breaks, to longer stays, there is something for everyone. We only live 15 miles away but stay regularly for the food scene and nightlife. If great choice of food, and live music is your thing, a few nights in Cardiff will not disappoint.

Visited Cardiff Castle seeing the outside of the Cardiff Principality Stadium en route. Cardiff Bay, Llandaff Cathedral, St Fagans, Caerphilly. Castell Coch and a nearby beach. Cardiff offers so much more we did not have time to see in the six days there. We will have to return!

Cardiff is a friendly city; in addition to the people, it offers a coastal location, an historic and picturesque Bay area, choice shopping, cultural events, and sports (mainly rugby!), often hosting international games.

There is not that much places to see and do .
There is not that much places to see and do . Quite small city. Such a beautiful marina. And seaside view. We went there by car so travelling it wasn't difficult for us. We stayed at Penarth Marina such a beautiful area. First night We had dinner at the Deck hotel where we stayed, it was very good. There are many restaurants around and in the city. There was nothing avoid on the next visit.

Please don’t go there the windows are covered with privacy sheets. You cannot see out of them in any of the rooms that I saw.
Your bookings can be mixed up and the chef shouts at you as I said before Gordon Ramsay eat your heart out. He will shout at you if you have an allergy and you have to leave.
And when they commit data protection breaches by putting your details on somebody else’s booking, they say they haven’t done it even though you’ve got photographic evidence

St Fagans living museum was great and loved the castles.
St Fagans living museum was great and loved the castles. Visited Cardiff Bay but otherwise there wasn’t more than 2 days worth of sights. There are more things to do as day trips but can be done from a less busy area than Cardiff. There was a great bit of traffic.
The location of the hotel was excellent. Just 10 minutes walking into the city centre and 5 minutes in the car to Cardiff bay. There was enough parking and it didn't cost too much. Good choices for breakfast and great bar for having drinks in the evening. We ate out so can't comment on the restaurant menu. The room was a good size for the three of us. The best thing about the Novotel was the indoor swimming pool. The pool was warm and the area around was clean and towels were provided. The gym was also well equiped.
Stayed in most hotels in cardiff, and have to say this hotel is the best, the rooms are quirky and modern, and very clean, the shower was fantastic, the staff are all brilliant, nothing is too much trouble, and Maya on reception was exceptional on the front desk, the food at breakfast was first class, lots of choice, and your breakfast was cooked fresh when you ordered, well done indigo, the best hotel in cardiff, will always choose hotel indigo from now on,
The location was perfect for me and my family, the property is very close to the Bay and also City centre. As you can imagine having 2 toddlers and a 7 year space is needed when staying away so this was perfect for us. The host was really helpful and messaged us a list of things we can do with the kids around Cardiff some for free. Clean property and will 100% return again.
Overall the property is excellent - in a great location with an amazing view. It is well equipped with everything you would need. I would say that it is tremendous value for money and I would definitely stay again. Private Parking space was great as well. Short walk to Cardiff Bay and similar walk to the city centre.
We were given a free 'upgrade' to a passable and functional room. Big enough. Warm. Cardiff is an expensive place to stay in the city centre and whilst not overall vfm , compared to other city centre hotels this was one of the cheapest. Great bar and music almost next door. Cheap parking. Good helpful staff.
We had a brilliant stay - the Executive room was perfect for our family of 4. We enjoyed the swimming pool, sauna and steam and the excellent breakfast (especially the pancake machine!). We were also impressed with how much Cardiff has to offer - shops, crazy golf, the castle and the Bay. We will be back!
I highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling with kids. There is a museum for children really close and the neighboorhood is super nice to go for a walk (much morr quiet than the city centre). The rooms are great, specially the beds and the views. There are plenty of restaurants around.
A lovely spacious, well equipped apartment located in Cardiff Bay near to the city centre. There were lots of places nearby to eat and drink and the city centre was just a short walk away. The beds were really comfortable and we slept really well. We would highly recommend this place to stay!
The location of the hotel in the City Centre is great, but with little noise. The room was large, the bed comfortable and i really enjoyed the breakfast. Thought the staff did a great job, given how busy the hotel was, given it was a Six Nations Weekend.
Very comfortable room, with excellent facilities and helpful staff. The breakfast option was amazing. Well located, with about a 10 minute walk into the city centre, 15 minutes to the bay, and a short walk down the road to Cardiff Central Station.
Great apartment within nice view, we had everything what we needed, bed very comfortable, perfect location,20 min walk to city centre and very close to Cardiff Bay. Definitely we will book it again if we plan to visit Cardiff again.
Nice hotel near Cardiff Central station and the city centre. The room was good, with the comfortable beds and daily cleaning. The hotel stuff was friendly and helpful.
