Located in Jena, 4 km from Schiller's Garden House, Hotel & Restaurant Zur Weintraube provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.
Our daughter lives in Jena with her young family. This unit is not as convenient to her as others we have used but was one of the biggest and had a full common kitchen to use. We have not seen too much of Jena except the old city and the Bergau Park Mall. Both are nice and different than in the States. Would like to see the Planetarium or go to the top of the Jen tower. We found the bedroom cold in December when we arrived and the common areas cold all the time. There is a large common-use dining table but it is so cold in the area you wouldn't want to sit out there. Nice quiet area but very limited, unreserved parking. We had to park about 5 blocks away and walk back. There is a very complete grocery store called Netto just across the street that had fresh baked croissants in the morning. That was great!

Not a well known travel destination, but with family here I was able to experience a German city without a large tourist influence. It was an enjoyable visit with plenty to do over a week’s stay. Transportation always available and easy. I found the people very friendly. There were many excellent bakeries and coffee shops.

Jena is a very nice town and lively because of all the students. Lots of various restaurants, cafes and pubs. People are friendly and helpful but it helps to speak German. Do not assume you will get around everywhere with only English.

Gorgeous small university city, intimate with walking distance to the mountains, center tower with city view offered. Very quiet getaway. Most locals are patient with a little to zero German speaking English native speaker. Dare I say is a nice place to honeymoon

An attractive small city with lots of lovely fin-de-siecle and modernist architecture - I could have wandered the streets for ages. A little down-at-heel but I feel that added to its charm. Situated on a slope, which makes for interesting wandering. Surrounding countryside also very pretty. We didn't have time to go to many bars or restaurants but the atmosphere (Fri. night) was nice and it felt safe.

Jena has got everything for most everyone, busy city centre, theatre, cinema, pubs and clubs and plenty of history, If that is not your thing (it's not mine) than the surrounding hills are outstanding for walking, hiking or mountain biking as well.
We reserved the apartment (FeWo) and it was excellent. Very spacey - large living room, two bedrooms (upstairs), kitchen and as a bonus a nice rooftop veranda with a beautiful view of the city. All equipment fully functional. The breakfast was a buffet with a good selection of food and eggs prepared on order. The breakfast was not included in the cost of the room, it was 15 EUR/person.
The hotel has an excellent location, about 100 m from the city center, in a quiet street.
The staff at the reception were helpful most of the time, and they tried speaking English which is a bonus point in such a local hotel. But besides that no other employee spoke English, i had to communicate with signs with the cleaning people when toilet paper was out. The room was clean in general. Parking options are limited but possible, short parking time for drop off is very useful.
Beautiful, spacious apartment. The kitchen was well-stocked with cookware, etc., which made it very easy to cook/prepare meals for a family. The whole space was clean and welcoming and Lars and his family were very gracious hosts. The proximity to the bike path, public transportation and town were perfect. I will definitely look to stay here again when I am back in Jena.
Friendly and competent staff especially in the wait staff in the breakfast room and in the restaurant, as well as the housekeeping personnel. The hotel has old-world charm. It is very well located just across the street from the university's main building and at a couple of minutes' walk to the main square.
A very complete breakfast available with eggs, different kinds of ham, cheese, vegetables, fruits, cereal, juice and much more.
Rooms were clean as I arrived with enough desk space to work on my laptop.
Quiet neighbourhood on a 15~ minute walk from Jena West station.
Great value hotel. I was surprised by the variety of the (buffet style) dinner. Felt like having dinner in a German home every night. The staff accommodated my special request on check in and check out - very helpful. This is a hidden gem in Jena
Best part of the hotel was the hospitality, room maintenance and service. The dinner timings and ambience were highly appreciated. The cost of the total stay was set at an affordable pricing for the overall service provided by the hotel.
The staff were attentive, courteous and helpful. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and the breakfast very good.
I would certainly like to pay a longer visit to Jena, and I see no reason not to use the Maxx Hotel again.
The hotel is very central and has underground parking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. When you mainly need a comfortable place to sleep it is very good. And an extra plus is, that you can stay with your dog.
Perfect location in Jena downtown with a reasonable price. The room was quite big (more than enough for a trip of 1 person during a few days), clean and comfortable. Wifi working well.
The hotel location, free parking spot, and the value are hard to beat combination for B&B Jena. Stayed a few times for business trip and will do again.
