We really liked it.
We really liked it. There was a fantastic ice cream place, Il Frigidarium, which had lovely flavours and great prices - coffee too. We only ate out once but that was very good - La Goletta - good food (fish!), friendly service, excellent value. We also found it very handy for public transport - the train to Genoa and the Cinque Terre and the boat to Portofino.
In the town there were good supermarkets and shops of all sorts.

Very under stated.
Very under stated. A perfect spot to visit Porto Fino and santa Margherita (use the bus or walk there instead of your car) and/or Cinque Terre (by train from Rapallo). Lots of good restaurants on the sea front to choose from and very nice views.

A perfect place to base a holiday.
A perfect place to base a holiday. Public transport was reliable easy and inexpensive. Also plenty to look at in the town. Good bars and restaurants. We attended a superb free concert in one of the churches. Easy access to railway and Genoa airport Look for the smaller restaurants. Plenty in the narrow medieval quarter.

The best place to stay in the Italian riviera.
The best place to stay in the Italian riviera. Lots of things to do, shops, cafes, reasonable prices, beaches, looks beautiful. Cable car to the top is highly recommended. Portofino is overhyped and very expensive. Cinqe Terre was so so. I was glad we stayed in Rapallo.

Rapallo is the perfect town to stay in!
Rapallo is the perfect town to stay in! It has everything you need without being overcrowded with tourists. We went in August which is the busiest time of year, so it was nice visiting and having a break being shoulder to shoulder with people like we had been on the rest of our Euro trip! Rapallo has a train station and ferry station and is in perfect proximity to attractions nearby. The boardwalk had great restaurant and cafe options too and is magical to walk around at night. If you're deciding between Cinque Terre and Rapallo, definitely stay in Rapallo and make day trips out to more busy places!

About the location of Hotel "Portofino Est Residence.Here...
About the location of Hotel "Portofino Est Residence. Here the courtyard and the fact that there is a sea view is ok.
But the interior leaves much to be desired. The furniture is uncomfortable (the old metal cots) that wobble with any movement, especially the bunk and rusty bed, there is an extendable sofa instead of a rather uncomfortable matrimonial bed.
When you open the door, you are hit by a musty, dirty, unventilated smell, an unkempt and dirty place.
Overall the exterior is ok but the interior is terrible.
About the commune itself Rapallo is a beautiful place. A fairytale commune where you can eat well, there are beaches and places where you can walk, a seafront with palm trees, a cute harbor with yachts, you can go nearby to Portofino, the super village and more expensive, but it's worth a visit there too.
Rapallo is a beautiful town!!!
Location is great! Close to the train station and close to the main interest areas!
Staff was super friendly and very helpful!
Breakfast was great! Not a huge variety but for Italy it is a lot(in other hotels fancier than this we got a coffee and a biscuit)!
The room size was good and although we found that soundproofing is not the best we did not have a huge amount of noise passing through the walls.
Overall a great experience! I would definitely recommend this hotel!
The accommodations were excellent. The location and walkability was perfect! Most of all, we appreciated the personal touches and wealth of knowledge from Melany the hotel hostess. Everything she recommended exceeded our expectations. Rapallo was charming and the perfect hub to see Portofino and Cinque Terre. Skip the hustle and bustle of those places and stay in Rapallo. Take the ferry up the coast and the train/hike Cinque.
The hotel is very well located and easy to access from the train station. We had a beautiful room with a.balcony and view over the harbour. Staff were wonderful, breakfast was good and Rapallo is a good place to stay to explore the Ligurian coast. A great restaurant on the water nearby is Ariston. Turn left as you exit hotel and walk a couple of hundred metres along the promenade.
Very nice, cosy hotel, with style and character. Both receptionists were extremely friendly and helpful. The cleaning lady was also a darling. The breakfast was very good, varied and everything was immediately replaced. I have travelled a lot in Europe and I can say this is one of the best 3 stars I’ve experienced. Grazie mille, danke schön, muito obrigado.
lovely hotel, excellent location to Rapallo. staff were lovely and helpful, especially the waiters. the hotel couldn’t do enough for you. breakfast was excellent and dinner in the evening was amazing. rooms clean and tidy and hotel was a close walk to beach. 5* hotel, second time staying here and would definitely come back.
Returning to Rapallo but this was our first stay at HOTEL VESUVIO and it was such a positive surprise and pleasure. Truly friendly and service minded family driven hotel, great central location on the beach promenade and a magnificent view of the sea. We will not hesitate to give this hotel our highest recommendations.
excellent location. great staff especially Sara,
Gabriel, Paulo and the the other nice lady (blond and tall)
whose name we can’t remember (sorry!!)..
all the staff was so nice and so accommodating and
made our stay memorable.
we will certainly come back again and stay
at the hotel Astoria for our next trip.
Well-situated hotel for excursions in Liguria. The parking lot in front of the hotel is a great advantage and the train station for visiting Cinque Terre is on short walking distance. The hotel is old fashioned, but clean. Plenty of breakfasting/dining options in charming Rapallo.
Beautiful surroundings (Rapallo, Zoagli, Portofino - real gems along the Ligurian coastline), and a smashing hotel: super customer care and service, all going out of their way to help and ensure that we had a memorable stay, in the hotel and on the sea.
Big, retro apartment with a good sized balcony overlooking the main road and lots of natural light. Very friendly hosts and right opposite a shortcut to the beaches. Parking space which is worth its weight in gold in Rapallo!
Room was a single room. It was ok but the window turned towards a back yard so could not see the sky.
Great breakfast and the hotel is located very central in Rapallo.
Very sweet and helpful staff.
Cri was an amazing host and the apartment was stunning. We loved our time in Rapallo and would definitely stay here if we returned. Thank you so much for all your help and wonderful information Cri.
The location of hotel is very convenient, being in close to both the seaside and the train station, offering excellent accessibility. The staff were very gentle and highly informative.
The hotel is very cozy and well located. Marco is very friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was great. We loved our time here and would definitely come again.
A very refined hotel with tastefull touches. Away from the hustle and bustle but still close enough to walk to amenities.
Would definitely book again!!
