During our stay, we visited Bari, Alberobello, Polignano a Mare and Monopoli. Monopoli was the best of them! Not that many tourists as in Polignano or Alberobello, beautiful romantic narrow streets, clean and decorated with flowers, the prices in restaurants were very reasonable. Monopoli is a cute seaside town.
Monopoli is a cute seaside town. It offers a lot with nearby beaches, many restaurants and drinking places. It also has great connections to other cities. If you do not plan to rent a car, then it makes so much sense to base in Monopoli and explore other cities via train or bus. That's what we did. It is not a nightlife place if that's what people are looking for but still there are many places to enjoy a drink or a cocktail.

We are happy that we avoided Bari and instead chose wonderful Monopoli as home base for day-trips across the region. While Monopoli and the cities in general are clean and tidy, there is one general issue for the region: Garbage. It's everywhere. Plastic, glass, you name it, is all littered along roadsides and even on the coastal pathways. The magnitude is staggering and it's such a shame.

I'm very glad I chose Monopoli over Polignano a Mare as a base for our trip in Puglia. Taste is, of course, subjective, but I think Monopoli is the nicest coastal town around Bari, it has a fairly big old town with a lot of quaint streets to explore, plenty of restaurants and even a good stretch of rocky, cliff-y coastline you can actually walk on, peppered with a few small beaches. I imagine it gets just as busy in summer but in April it was less crowded than Polignano and overall feels like there's more space. It's also very well connected, ~ 20 min from Ostuni, ~ 5 min from Polignano, ~1h10 from Lecce, ~30 min from Bari all on the main trainline we used everyday.AdelinaRomania

Super clean, very comfy bed, very generously sized rooms, fantastic bathroom, cute balcony, lots of storage for clothes and suitcases, we even found some treats in the fridge and the host was very nice and friendly. Location (close to train station and town centre), a cool focacceria opposite the building(which we recommend!) several cafes and restaurants nearby, and Aircon (a must in summers) made our stay even more perfect!

The terrace is the best with a fantastic view where you can enjoy your evenings with a glass of wine watching the sunset. Mrs Franca welcomed us and treated us as family members. She realised it was my birthday and cooked for us a delicious Italian dinner☺️. I really would like to recommend this place to stay in Monopoli and don't try to find anything else. It will tick all the boxes for the lovely stay.

We loved everything about it, so even extended our stay! Beautiful traditional trulli, lovely decoration and furniture (one of the trulli's has a very romantic bath), spacious outside area where you can pick your own olives, grenades and figs in the garden. It's only a 10 minutes drive to Monopoli, but there are restaurants and supermarkets closeby as well. And Gabriele is the sweetest and most helpful host we have met so far. The breakfast was much better than usual - salam, cheese, pastry, cakes, fruit, yougurt, coffee, tea, milk and cereals etc. The best thing about this accommodation are: 1. the host - very helpful and always smiling; 2. location - it is located in a quiet area, but near from the center and the main sights. The location is very convenient and the best places in Monopoli are all at walking distance. Our hosts manage the parking thing smoothly, my car remained in a free and safe zone, 20 meters from the building. The check-in and check-out were worry free.
