Merano is a wonderful city with lots of opportunities for fine walks - easy up to challenging. The environment is Mediterranean beautiful with lots of nice flowers everywhere and breath-taking views to the mountains around Merano.
Especially beautiful is a trip to the gardens of Castle Trautmannsdorf - which we visited already the second time.
Even on Sundays it was easy to buy food in open supermarkets for breakfast. In the evening it easy to find beautiful and stylish restaurants with excellent kitchen.
We also enjoyed our ride to Village Tyrol and the trip up to Hochmuth.

Merano was great, however it was marred by our accommodation which was underneath another apartment undergoing constant noisy renovations, and we had to check out two days early with no refund from our unhospitable host.

The tourist season in the city is mainly between April and November, so some restaurants/bars are open for limited time, but this is specific to the city as a whole. But still there are a huge number of stores that are open and having sales.
The city is very charming and beautifully situated. Typical for rest and light physical activity.

Merano is an amazing place with an incredible Spa, especially if you take advantage of the sauna area. Countless good restaurants available everywhere you look. The botanical garden at Trauttmansdorff is well worth a visit; allow enough time to enjoy it properly. Meran2000 is a must do for outdoorsy people. It's a bit upscale. Lots of fancy shops and stores. You can go swimming in the river upstream aways there's a swimming hole that can be seen from the Torre delle Polveri. Go to the Forst Biergarten restaurant. It was so good I ate there three times.
I had an exceptional 2-nt. stay at Hotel Annabell. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and hope to do so! The location is great, away from the busy city center but easily accessible by walking there or taking the bus, for which you have a free guest pass to use. The owners are wonderful and are the icing on the cake of this hotel! Such great info provided! The double room used as single was wonderful with a balcony and view of mountains and vineyards. Breakfast was excellent with a variety of food. Nice parking right outside for cars.
I took the breakfast Italian style, and it was perfect, but the offered alternatives looked seduicing as well. The location is so central, that in the first moment I was in doubt whether it might be noisy, but this was not at all the case. You close the door of the building and you are immedately in a calm and luxurious area. The suite is modern and provides everything you need during a stay. It is the best starting point to experience the various attractions of Merano. We felt embedded in very warm hospitality by the owners.
Schönbrunn hotel is a great hotel to stay in! Very quaint and located in a very nice neighborhood surrounded by green trees just 15 min from the old town!
We were awakened by a concert of birds early in the morning! Just beautiful.
The rooms are nice and clean, of a good size with a beautiful balcony overlooking the swimming pool. The owner and the staff are really helpful and super friendly.
Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of foods.
We will definitely go back next time we are in town!
The host is a well organized and very informative and helpful lady. We could contact her anytime we needed and she would respond within minutes. So even when we had some misunderstandings or difficulties to find something, she and her team were always there for us.
I recommend this facility very strongly to every small family, who wants to enjoy the magic beauty of Merano.
Nice and clean room with a spacious balcony. Very friendly staff. The breakfast was amazing, so many things to choose from, fresh and delicious! Really enjoyed starting our day every morning with a swim in the pool with the scenic mountainous landscape around the hotel area being the cherry on top. Looking forward to another stay at Hotel Salgart soon!
The hotel is on the riverside but if wishing for a river view, make sure to request a higher floor, beautiful trees block the view otherwise. Really nice and helpful reception staff. Perfect base for sightseeing in Merano as it is close to all major sights, and literally just steps away from the Kurhaus and the thermal bath.
The hotel is conveniently located near the centre/old town. The spa facilities are superb, the staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was great and our room exceeded our expectations. For anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing retreat, this is the place to go.
Location, ambience, restaurant, garden, pool. Everything is perfect about this hotel. Room (apartment) is very spacious with a small balcony. One of the most beautiful views in Meran from each balcony and window. Surrounded by grape wines, apple gardens and mountains.
Location is excellent. You are across the street from the park and the river. It is just a 10 minute walk to the center center. Also, only a ten minute drive or bus ride to Merano 2000 which is a ski resort with great summer hiking and views.
The views are extraordinary and the setting is magical. Walking around the garden, along the narrow paths was delightful. We explored the castle above the hotel and that added some fantasy to the whole experience. Great service!
We loved it. Wonderful location in the center of Merano, friendly hosts who gave us great tips (for example where to eat), and they were so nice to our dog, who even got her own 'hotel bed' (dog bed). Thank you!
Location is nice for a visit to Meran town. It's quiet at night, the little garden is a relaxing place. There is a parking space in front of the door, it's possible to put bicycles on the patio in the garden.
Great breakfast, nice staff. We had an older room but the bathroom was already new. The hotel is located in a nice, quiet street with a 20min walk to the city Center. Parking space for bikes were available.
The hotel is modern and cool, the staff are super friendly and professional, the breakfast is absolutely amazing and the spa center is really well done. We enjoyed every single moment spent in the hotel.
The room was very clean and comfortable and the location is perfect for enjoying the historic center of Merano. There was a place to store our bikes as well. The coffee and tea table was a nice touch.
This hotel is a part of Hotel Bavaria, therefore breakfast and other stuff is shared with this hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean, the bathroom as well. It was a calm location
