The Queen at Chester Hotel, BW Premier Collection, hotel in Chester

Located opposite Chester Station, The Queen at Chester, BW Premier Collection first opened in 1860, and offers grand Victorian-style rooms and free WiFi. The city centre is within walking distance.

The hotel is just stunning, love the room layout and decor, i was absolutely mesmerized, so were my children. They had the best time. The location is perfect, walking distance to the city centre and park/roman gardens. The staff were so welcoming, especially to my children, sometimes it can be overwhelming travelling with children so they really put me at ease. The food was delicious also - breakfast and dinner! I loved the fact of how spacious our room was, the kids had space to be kids and werent cramped. It was a very pleasant stay.

FAQs about hotels in Chester

A Walk Through History

Featuring half-timbered buildings, almost complete city walls and a wealth of Roman heritage, beautiful Chester sits by the border with Wales.

The southernmost gate of the walls overlooks the River Dee, and the road leading north is one of 4 in the city to follow the original Roman roads. To the east, the Roman Gardens include a reconstructed underfloor heating system.

Nearby Grosvenor Park has remains of a stone Roman amphitheatre, thought to have been built on the world’s largest wooden amphitheatre at the time. Over the river in the suburb of Handbridge is a 2nd-century shrine to Minerva, and an informative display in the Grosvenor Museum provides the background to all this heritage.

In the west is Chester Racecourse and nearby are the medieval castle remains. More medieval buildings line the cobbled city centre streets. Some of these are The Rows, black-and-white timbered buildings housing 2 levels of shops. Other shopping options are the indoor market by the cathedral, and the Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village in Ellesmere Port to the north. The road out there passes Chester Zoo, one of the UK’s best zoos.

Booking.com’s range of Chester accommodation includes hotels with swimming pools, guest houses by the train station and B&Bs with parking near Chester Airport.

    Chester is absolutely beautiful.

Chester is absolutely beautiful. Anyone visiting should walk on the city walls, go in the Cathedral and take advice from the tourist information centre who are so very helpful. Many fabulous boutiques as well as well known shops. Lots of restaurants and bars, pedestrian areas etc. Lovely walks by the river Dee. The designer discount outlet, Cheshire Oaks is great. All on one level or easily accessible ramps, nice dining areas. Staff really helpful and free parking in the multi storey! Definitely going back! We ate at the Cosy club, and saw Kinky boots at the theatre, which was awesome. Chester is well worth a visit!

The name alone should be enough to create the impression of a hotel with attitude. Thankfully, this doesn't extend to the reception/hospitality staff who were unfailingly polite and helpful. The hotel is located on the canal and is roughly five minutes walk to Chester railway station and the city centre. The terrace at the back of the hotel overlooks the canal and is great for people watching and toasting the end of the day with a sundowner or two.

The room was very clean and modern with adequate facilities. The bed and sheets were very comfortable and the curtains well lined to block out the early sunshine. If I had been sharing the room, I think it would have been a bit cramped. The hotel is very convenient for Chester city centre and it is useful to have 24 hour secure parking. The lovely Architect pub and restaurant is right next door which is great

The hotel is situated 15 mins from Chester city centre by foot, pleasant walk, straight forward no hidden turns. The room was slightly smaller than expected but as we were only using it as a sleeping base it fulfilled our needs. The staff were very efficient and friendly, the breakfast was very nice, hot and well cooked, with a varied choice. The bar was a welcome relief after a days walking around the town.
