The location is in a nice area of Basel very close to the Rhein , with nice little Cafes and restaurant. ( A bit tricky to find) Only 10 min walk away to the city centre. The room itself was not very big, but high quality interiors, very comfortable bed, the bathroom was very spacious. The weather was extremely hot for beginning of September. We struggled a bit with the nights as we only had very warm down feather duvets without AC. Couldn’t open the windows because of the outdoor noise of the bar on the ground floor and the main hotel on the opposite side of the narrow road. It was a shame that we only spotted the coffee and tea facilities outside the room on the corridor when we departed.

At the meeting point of Switzerland, Germany and France, Basel is an eclectic mix of historic and modern, tranquil and vibrant. With Swiss cleanliness and efficiency thrown in for good measure.
Augusta Raurica on its outskirts houses a well-preserved Roman theatre, while the Old Town is a museum of medieval buildings. The Renaissance Town Hall looks down on Marktplatz’s daily market, while the red sandstone and colourful tiles of the Münster were reconstructed in the 19th century. Bringing it right up to date are the modern creations of city residents Herzog & De Meuron, designers of London’s Tate Modern.
When you’ve finished exploring this architectural heritage, there are still plenty of things to do in Basel. The city’s fine art museum is the world’s oldest art collection, and the zoo is the oldest and largest in Switzerland. Remember to bring plenty of Swiss francs for the shopping mile along Clarastrasse and Freiestrasse.
The Basel accommodation on Booking.com ranges from hotels in Grossbasel to B&Bs in Kleinbasel, home to the nightlife. If you’re flying into Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg Airport in February or March you might just catch Fasnacht: Switzerland’s biggest carnival. You’ll have to get up early to see it start though - 4am!
Lovely walkable historical city

Markethall was great place to eat lots of choice of food stalls and at reasonable prices and open long hours

Basel was much nicer than I had anticipated!
Basel was much nicer than I had anticipated! I usually go to Luzern and Zurich while traveling by train; making them brief stops of two or three days. This time I stopped in Basel and I was delighted with this wonderful city! I can’t wait to return and plan on staying a few more days to take it all in! Wonderful for shopping and dining and easy to get to on the train. Also convenient for visiting surrounding areas, making an ideal home base for longer visits in Switzerland.

We absolutely loved the zoo!
We absolutely loved the zoo! Quite small but the layout was deceptive so that it seemed much larger. The animals appeared well cared for and the enclosures were spacious with attention to enriching the environment for them, while at the same time allowing the visitors to get very close to them. In a very expensive country the entrance fee was very reasonable and half price with the Basel card.
The university botanical garden was also a little gem with a collection of unusual plants beautifully displayed and free to visit.
Basel itself an attractive city with a good feel about it. Don’t miss the quirky fountains near the theatre in the centre of town. Everything is very expensive for a British visitor which applies to Switzerland in general.

Perfect for a city break and good connection even to travel...
Perfect for a city break and good connection even to travel to other cities nationally and internationally as Basel is sandwhiched between France and Germany so, up to you where your heart will lead you for a day trip towards those countries.
Peaceful and efficient. Trasport good, people chilled.
Be ready to bring some money if you need to stay longer.

Basel is magical, I really enjoyed visiting it.
Basel is magical, I really enjoyed visiting it. The old town is so so nice. It's also very well connected to other places like Reigoldswil for the waterfall or to Augusta Raurica which I recommend.

Lovely city, but very expensive!
Lovely city, but very expensive! Mind you that most kitchens close at 21h and don't accept customers well in advance, as well as lots of places are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Go for all the beauty of the city, but bring the big wallet and plan to eat out early if you don't rent a place with a kichen and cook yourself. Don't bother to stay on a Monday, and consider to leave early on a Sunday, those two days are very, very quiet in Basel!
This hotel is well located, easy walking distance to Basel SBB. This makes it a perfect base from which to explore Basel and even organise day trips to other parts of Switzerland. Equally the quality of accommodation and cleanliness for price is fab.
I had some WiFi issues on initial check-in but they were so kind helping me find a solution. This left me with such a positive impression especially as it was my first time in Switzerland and I had so many trips/activities planned that WiFi was crucial.
Very sketchy, unsafe area - more unsafe than any areas I've seen in Switzerland. Even to enter the building at night, one is scared, and when you do not have the code at hand to enter the building, even more. The info on how to enter the building and room is super unclear. The display inside also got stuck, so it was really a hassle. People on the street shouting all night. Strange idea to do a self check-in hotel in such an unsafe place- you need staff then.
The breakfast selection was plentiful and varied, served in the restaurant which overlooks the Rhine and its visual activity. Staff were very pleasant and informative and made us feel at home. Having stayed here a number of years ago we were aware of how convenient the location is for sightseeing and proximity to numerous good restaurants.
Considering how expensive Switzerland has become, the hotel offers excellent value for money.
We were given the largest nicest room in the hotel. It had an upstairs loft for the queen bed and bath and two story windows. Beautiful space, very comfortable and impeccably clean. Our stay came with free public transit passes but we were unable to use them due to the timing of our stay. The front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. Location was walkable to the city center and felt very safe. Great value.
I stayed there the first night and last night of my holiday in Switzerland. On the first night I asked for some extra pillows as I sleep sitting up, and also for a seat and/or rubber mat for the shower as i am elderly and scared of slipping. I was impressed to find when I arrived two weeks later, that the receptionist had remembered what i had requested before and they were already in my room.
Very clean, large and spacious, great facilities, plenty of room in the kitchen and utensils to cook, amazing location just a short straight walk from the station, plus it's a great station to get to various other parts of Switzerland quite quickly and directly, and really lovely staff- super helpful and friendly dudes with great local info and Swiss travel tips!
This hotel is easily accessible as it's close to bus and tram stops (only 10-15 mins from the main SBB Basel station on Tram 11), and a 5-10 min walk to the city centre (Rathaus etc.) and a couple of minutes walk to the Rhine.
Room was decent, big shower and the staff were helpful.
Not too expensive for Switzerland.
Location was great! Near train station and the Viking boat dock. We rode the public train from the hotel to the cruise dock…quick and easy!! Also near shops and restaurants making it easy to walk around and enjoy. No need for car/Uber/taxi during our stay of 2 days
Breakfast is plentiful and excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel is a great and convenient stopover en route from Italy to Belgium via Switzerland. Right on French border so rapid getaway in the morning. Also nearby easy parking.
Considering the price in Switzerland, this please is ptretty cost-efficient. Location is ok as hotel offeres a Basel card covering free trasnaportation, and there are bus 10, 11 and 15 near the hotel. Room was basic and simple.
The hotel is very clean and an easy walk to the Old Town. The staff were friendly and efficient. The shower was fantastic! The Wifi is fast and loved the automatic window shade.
Easy location in the midst of Old Town. Parking Garage very close and hotel gave great directions to parking facility and getting to hotel. Great large deck off of room.
A nice clean hotel 15 min away from the centre. Friendly staff and a breakfast which is good value for money. The hotel provides water and coffee in the room.
