The location was very good, within easy walking distance of the centre of Ghent. We liked the old, industrial building conversion and our view over the canal.

Located in the Flemish region of Belgium, the beautiful medieval city of Ghent is not only a city of history, but also a romantic place
to visit. The city is full of hidden historical, cultural and culinary gems that you can easily discover.
The Gravensteen or 'Castle of the Count' is a deceptively enchanting sight dating back to the Middle Ages. Constructed by Philip of Alsace, the count of Flanders, it's partially surrounded by a moat and beautifully restored, and hosts an interesting museum about the history of prison life.
Part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, the Belfry of Ghent is a medieval tower overlooking the Old Town centre. Saint Bavo Cathedral and Saint Nicholas' Church are the city's other two towers, with St. Nicholas' Church being one of the oldest landmarks in Ghent (known as Gent in Flemish).
Enjoy a relaxing walk in the picturesque medieval streets and stop at one of the charming traditional restaurants for Belgium beer and a classic Flemish meat stew with French fries. Local delicacies include the popular Belgium chocolate and the purple jelly-filled candies called the 'noses'.

A beautiful, lively city with many easily accessible sights,...
A beautiful, lively city with many easily accessible sights, concentrated in the centre. Easy communications by train or bus to/from other towns and good public transport within the city. Plenty of shops, restaurants, cafés, and a large pedestrian area. One can easily spend a few hours in one of the many museums on a rainy day.

It can get a bit full of walking tours and people in general - don't go at peak tourist times! Away from the centre there are lovely little bars and places to look at. It's crammed with beautiful art nouveau buildings. It prides itself on its artistic and musical connections - lots of students, and you could hear music practice going on in many places. There are local breweries with many delicious beers.

Two nights would've been better...lots to see.
Two nights would've been better...lots to see. Our favorite Belgium chocolates and waffles of our entire trip were found in Ghent (Gant). We choose to not do the museum or castle tours, but enjoyed the boat tour and walking through the streets, shopping, and people watching. On the weekend, the streets were pretty packed, but more families than we found in Brussels. Do the St. Babo's virtual tour if you visit--so much more information. We didn't a car. Try to get a seat near the canal for an afternoon snack/drink--lovely place to sit and relax.

The centre of Ghent was pretty.
The centre of Ghent was pretty. The level of service and friendliness was generally good, but unfortunately this was not the case on the boat or at the castle. Having visited most of the major cities in Belgium this would be rated 4th after Veurne, (small but pretty and very welcoming), Dinant, (amazing Citadel), Bruges, (charming) and Antwerp (Our favourite, lovely old town, music museum, designer shopping and easy to access...we used the park and ride)

Lots to see and do.
Lots to see and do. Interesting history, great food, shopping, atmosphere! A wonderful little shop selling delicious mustard made on-site and packed in lovely crocks. Lace and chocolate shops as well as a full service supermarket in walking distance of major sites. Kid friendly scavenger hunt in castle with a pin as a reward at end. UNESCO site bell tower and building after beautiful building with charm and interest at every corner! Restaurants had several local dishes (a beef and a chicken stew) featured that were delicious! Safe and relaxing.

Ghent in general is a beautiful city.
Ghent in general is a beautiful city. The city center that is. Lots of historical area's and buildings. Very friendly people, nice restaurants and nice bars. One of my favorite city's in Belgium.
The big advantage of the city center in Ghent is that it is compact and all at walking distance.
I did a city walk and passed most of the historical high lights of Ghent.
Nice bars to try are the "Dreupelkot" (specialized in jenevers) and the "Dulle Griet". Be warare that if you drink the beer "Max" you will be without 1 shoe for some time.
From first contact with Herbert, we knew we are about to have a wonderful time in his property. And we weren’t wrong! Lovely and polite owners who did awesome job with decorating the apartment. There is really nothing that you will miss. Kitchen and bathroom fully equipped, towels and bedding at disposal, everything very clean and cosy. Rooftop terrace is a hidden gem! Connection to city center is easy, either with bus, or Uber.
We can definitely recommend this place, and we are sure we will come stay here again next time we visit Belgium.
Kris is a fantastic host, very welcoming and as a Ghent local is an expert on the city. I received some great advice about key attractions and places to eat, as well as some of the history of Ghent and Belgium. The room was super cosy and with a nice view of the south side of the city. Breakfast was fabulous, testament to Kris’ exceptional hospitality! Would highly recommend for couples/solo travellers. It’s also near the beautiful Citadelpark and the university botanic gardens, which I definitely recommend for a place to relax :)
Excellent hotel in a perfect location within walking distance of all of the major attractions, shops, restaurants, cafes & bars but also close to bus & tram routes. Our family room was spacious, very clean, light & airy & quiet. Breakfast was available if wanted & offered a wide variety of hot and cold food & drinks. There was always a member of staff at reception & all were extremely friendly, helpful & multilingual. I would totally recommend staying here when visiting Ghent.
Location was perfect. Short walk to castle and cathedrals. Also near some excellent restaurants, bars and photogenic scenery. Hotel room located in the building at the back of the courtyard on floor 3 with elevator access. Mostly clean room, good shower facilities and hairdryer. The lady with the short hair who checked us in was super friendly and welcoming. Huge thanks for her welcome to Ghent unfortunately I did not get her name.
The location of the hotel is perfect. It's as downtown as it gets and there's a taxi stand next to the hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and the beds have good and comfy pillows! The staff is very friendly. We got a lot of information on Ghent drawn on a map. It also is a cozy place with a beautiful bar and another space to hang out that has an honesty bar. Around the hotel there are lots of restaurants and other food options.
We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon visit to Belgium. The apartment really impressed us and exceeded our expectations. It was really wonderful. We were greeted by Olivier who was very friendly and explained things perfectly. The breakfast that was supplied was fantastic and the location was great. The bedroom was especially comfortable. We would definitely be happy to stay here again and highly recommend it!
For Belgium it was a good price and quility combination, I loved that there was a bath and not only shower as usually. The room had everything we needed, kettle etc. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Surrounding was quiet enough, the street traffic outside wasn't too noisy. Cafe's and restaurants around were cheaper and better than in the center.
Perfect location for exploring Ghent. It's a stonethrow from the cathedral and you'll love the morning view of the picturesque square from the hotel's breakfast area. The staff were helpful, the internet was great and the rooms werevery clean and comfortable. I'd recommend staying here although it is on a pricey side for a 3* hotel.
This is a Best Western chain hotel close to the central railway station and colleges in Ghent. The room was clean and had all needed amenities (refrigerator, electric kettle, TV). The continental breakfast buffet was pretty basic, but acceptable if one does not want to go restaurant. Good for short stays on the way to other cities.
everything. The location is perfect for both visiting the city centre and traveling to other places of belgium from the train station. It’s cosy, warm, confortable and you can do the check in whenever you want. It’s the third time that I choose this studio and I’ll come back when visiting ghent in the future. Totally recommended.
Good budget option hotel, distance to city centre is excellent and easily one of its biggest qualities. Overall the hotel is basic but check all the marks. For a short stay in Gent its all perfectly fine if you don't plan on being in your room a lot.
The hotel's location is perfect; all of Ghent's attractions are within walking distance.
The covid-19 restrictions were clear and logical, with one notable exception (see the "What didn't you like" section).
Food was really good.
This hotel is fantastic! Comfortable beds, great bathrooms and water pressure, friendly and helpful staff, large breakfast, elegant but not stuffy. Great location to Ghent’s historic district, but very quiet.
The host was very nice to bring our luggages upstairs and downstairs during checking & - out. He suggested the traditional Belgium food and order the restaurant for us. Thanks a lot for his kindness.
I was in Ghent looking for traditional Belgian fries. The hotel had a prepared list of nice frieteries. I went to the one recommended by the reception on Tuesday afternoon. Her choice was great!
It was at a great location (heart of Ghent!) and it was extremely clean and tidy. One of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in while traveling across Europe. Bathrooms was lovely.
