Symi is very beautiful and there are some lovely restaurants...
Symi is very beautiful and there are some lovely restaurants along the harbour. We would recommend walking up to the lovely church on top of the hill that you can see from the harbour as the view is fantastic. The closest beach didnt seem to have much there so and was very small so we walked along the rugged coastline but it was very rocky to get down into the water! We walked to the village Chorio high up in the mountain where there is a pretty church and an amazing view of Symi. It was lovely to see mountain goats and see chickens along the rugged pathway. We wish we had stayed another day so we could have visited the Monastery.

Symi is a beautiful little island, with an abundance of shops and restaurants to browse and choose from. We stayed around the main harbour area and didn't feel the need to hire a car or take a bus anywhere. We were happy to relax on our balcony for the most part, read, drink coffee and people watch. We did venture to the walk to the small beach one day for a swim, which was lovely.

Friendly people and picture perfect. It was not overcrowded.
Friendly people and picture perfect. It was not overcrowded. The restaurants are plentiful and served delicious meals with fresh seafood. Ferries are available for trips to local beaches. Watching the harbour fill each afternoon with amazing boats and yachts was great entertainment whilst sitting at a bar.

Symi is a most beautiful and friendly island.
Symi is a most beautiful and friendly island. Most people only come for the day but it has more than enough to offer for a much longer stay. I have now been three times (for a week) and have still not managed to visit the monastery! Perhaps next time...

Symi is a delightful island, a place you have to choose to visit as it can only be accessed via ferry from Rhodes. It personifies a typical Greek Island, born out of travel experiences anchored in the minds of visitors who first visited this region back in the day. The food is very tasty cooking, fresh food, served with love. There are cars here (ignore those who say there are none) and taxis are available, both via water and land. Most beaches have a taverna - a must-visit is Nanou with the goats and the best food I ate! If you have some limitations on yhour mobility be sure to check the accessibility within your accommodation (self-catering or otherwise) for steps, and also distance from the main port/harbour. The walking is great but be mindful of when to visit - this was a very hot summer and the weather for my visit in October was just right but still hot. I loved Symi.
The house was fantastic I spent a lot of the time on the balcony watching the comings and goings in the harbour, the view by day awesome by night treble it. All the little simple things provided by the host lady that i have never had any where else in many years of travelling greece. The hundred steps from the quayside are worth every single one. I haven't even started to mention the town which also gets the wow factor. Silly things I noticed no rubbish bins anywhere but no litter anywhere and no graffiti. Will I be back YES.
A+ stay - clean, modern, amazing view, kitchen, washing machine, perfect location. Can’t wait to visit again soon. Ideal location for those wanting to settle into Symi for a few days/weeks, and for those who like to walk - about 15 min down to the main port or to Pedi, though does involve hills so for anyone with mobility issues can take the bus (conveniently located right outside!) Pictures on website very accurate, it’s as great as it looks.
Anna was a wonderful host. This was my first time going to Greece as a 25 year old girl. (My uncle and I made a vacation plan to see Greece.) She not only hosted me overseas, but she went with me to a few touristic places. She took me to a museum and to the Monastery of the Archangel Michael. She gave me a wonderful tour of the city. Of course, I was very thankful and felt like I belonged and a part of her family. Highly recommend!
The booking.com reviews were very helpful and I requested room 2 because of this and was not disappointed. The communication from the host was excellent. The room's decor was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. Symi rises steeply from the harbour and it might help potential guests to know that there are 18 steps to the ground floor rooms, 4 and 5, and 33 steps in total to the upper rooms 1, 2 and 3.
The place is really beautiful, with a wonderful view on the sea. Best place ever to stay in Symi, very calm, with a little beach next to the hotel. You just have to cross the street. Natassa is taking care of her clients with efficience and heart. The place was perfectly clean. It's perfect for staying with children, or as a romantic getaway. I came with my daughter and my sister and planning to come back.
This was a wonderful place in an ancient building, right on the road on the water (which we could see out the windows and door), very convenient to restaurants (one next door), cafes, beaches, everything that the port of Symi has to offer. The space was large and the owners had provided everything one might need for a happy stay, even a bottle of their own wine, and homemade jam!
The staff were all friendly and helpful but easy going, so I felt at home. The whole place felt comfortable and sweet. The beautiful room. The view. The fact that you could walk out of the hotel and swim in the sea, after which you can sit and enjoy a lovely affogato under the canopy of umbrellas sitting on the water. The breakfast was really good, too. The location is perfect.
The mix of traditional and contemporary design, with emphasis on well designed living space throughout, including the way, they sited the building on the property to have all balconies facing the bay and the mountains. Very smart.
The wonderful staff.
The shower.
The relaxed atmosphere of the town, Pedi. It was nice to not be in the busier town center of Symi.
The Odyssia restaurant and Hotel was by far one of the best places I have stayed/ate and drank at! The property owner and his daughter are genuine and kind. The room we had was spacious and had a big terrace overlooking Symi Port. Delicious food at the restaurant downstairs also!
Thank you for one of best holiday's ever.
Ben & Olga. :)
Nireus Hotel was like paradise! We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely return. The sea view room was idyllic and worth the little extra money. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was lovely and the hotel bar and restaurant had amazing views of Symi and it’s clear blue waters! We have no negatives for the hotel.
Beautiful, clean, perfectly located hotel in Symi port town. A friendly warm welcome and glorious breakfasts as an optional extra. Our room was small but impeccable and very comfortable and we loved our balcony.
The luxury sweets were beautiful. Clearly the accommodation is well loved by the amazing owner.
The chocolate orange granola was also fantastic. A great stay for our honeymoon!
We loved our stay on Symi. The flat is large, has a comfy enough bed and has the best view from the balcony. We absolutely loved sitting there with a glass of wine.
Beautiful views. Friendly, helpful hosts, great AC and shower. We loved staying here and can’t recommend it enough! Symi was so beautiful. We want to come back!
