Excellent rail link from Interlaken and then access by train or cable car to various mountains. Whilst the village is quiet it has a coffee shop and a few other shops open during March, I'm sure many more in the Summer.

The town Lauterbrunnen is wonderful.
The town Lauterbrunnen is wonderful. Small town with a cliff on both sides. Very scenic. Murren and Shilthorn the Ski Attractions are accessible through Lauterbrunnen. Nice cosy hotels and wonderful food and friendly people is what Lauterbrunnen offers. Its very close to the wonderful town Wengen (20 min via train) which is at a Hill top opposite to Lauterbrunnen and connects to Jungfrau - The Top of Europe.
Lauterbrunnen is a must visit town if one is visiting Switzerland and wants to enjoy a very scenic and less crowded experience.

Lauterbrunnen is perfect if you prefer to be in a quiet and low key spot versus some of the larger towns in the area. It is basically one street but has everything you need for a pleasant stay. The train station services everything in the area, and also has a lift to Murren. There are plenty of cafes, a supermarket and sports equipment stores. It's a lovely village.

Super easy to navigate around Lauterbrunnen, with frequent buses, cable cars, and trains available. Walking and hiking options are everywhere; trails for families or more experienced hikers. Friendly shopkeepers and the local grocery store (COOP) is open even on Sundays.

Beautiful town. Beautiful waterfalls.
Beautiful town. Beautiful waterfalls.
For keeping your luggage, you have 2 options:
1) For small luggage, self-operated lockers, available 24 hours
2) For large luggage, you can contact station office. The have a room to store luggage, but it closes at 05:30pm.
The location is not right in the main part of the town, which actually provided even better views of the mountains than otherwise. Easy walk to the restaurants and bars still. The showers and toilets are a bit down a path from the rooms unfortunately, but you can't beat the price and the comfort of the rooms, which are small but perfectly suitable for backpackers who want an affordable place to stay. Reception was very helpful and explained the trails on both sides of the Lauterbrunnen valley.
I loved the location of where the hotel was situated in Lauterbrunnen. We had the most beautiful scenic views from Hotel Schutzen Lauterbrunnen and to have the incredible back drop of Stqubbach waterfall right behind our hotel. Hotel was 5 mins from the train station and Coop supermarket. The Hotel Schutzen restaurant served delicious food! Excellent service from the waitress Viola at the restaurant, she was very friendly, helpful and the service she provided was above and beyond.
Actually great value for money if you need to spend one or two nights at Lauterbrunnen. I booked a single room for a 41$ at booking as a mobile offer and this room was clean pretty well organized even not super small and also has a waterfall view. SO for 41$ per single room its totally amazing. Let's be fair! I do not recommend this hotel for romantic couples because the sound system is a bit poor but for smart solo travelers it's a good option!
The manager is working very successfully to make sure each guest has a wonderful stay. This B & B is situated in a beautiful valley, close to bus and trains. It is very clean, beds are comfy and breakfast is a highlight. Fruit, yogurt, granola, freshly made scrambled eggs, breads, juices, coffee, tea, cheese and ham. Alk for a goid price in a very well run B & B. Would recommend to all who visit Lauterbrunnen.
Location, location, location!!! The bus stop is just outside the house, so it was super convenient to carry our luggage to and from the train station. The waterfalls were within view and the walk to town was easy and picturesque. Reka our host was bubbly, cheery and super nice. The apartment was very comfortable, amenities were complete and it was the nicest place we stayed in while in Switzerland.
Lovely old 19th century Inn. Rooms with views of the falls and valley are incredible. Yes, it is older, but that is a huge part of the charm—to stay in the same hotel that the early scalers of the Jung Frau snd Eiger stayed. And if the weathers bad, you can still sit on your porch and see the Staubbauch falls and “Rivendell”… Just like Tolkien did in 1911. Staff is wonderful!
This was the second time I live at this hotel. the first time was 7 years ago and now I’m back with my kids. I was here with my
best friend and now with my family. I found the hotel is fantastic both times for different demands. so appreciate that there is a place in Lauterbrunnen that I would love to come back for visit again and again. see you hopefully soon again the best hotel!
Lauterbrunnen is a heaven on earth. The hotel is excellent, close to everything, has a good breakfast, it's clean and comfortable. The only negative side is that it's just opposite the train station, so that you might hear some trains depending on the room orientation. But the sound is not too bad, and I am a light sleeper. The staff was supper nice.
The breakfast is breads, meats, cheeses, and hard boiled eggs. The location is good, about 7 minutes from the train station (uphill), the entrance is a little confusing as the restaurant is in front of the hotel. The view from our room was especially good, it looked right up the valley with a view of the waterfall.
Definitely the coolest apartment I've ever stayed in! You absolutely can't beat the view and you really couldn't ask for better hosts. The apartment was clean and had everything you needed (coffee, tea, extra towels, extra blankets, etc.). I would absolutely recommend staying here for your Switzerland adventures!
We loved our stay here, the staff were amazing and helped us out a lot with places to visit and what train schedule to take. The views were beautiful from our window and we had so much fun at the bar and met some really cool people. If we ever come back to Switzerland we will definitely be staying here again. 😃
The apartment is ideally located to visit the Lauterbrunnen valley. It is on the first floor of a quaint looking Swiss chalet. The rooms are spacious and the beds/linens very comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean. The host Lukas was easy to communicate with and answered all our questions quickly.
We were so impressed with our stay at the hotel Oberton, besides the location being perfect, the staff was exceptional, the Rosti was delicious, the rooms were clean. The view from our patio was unforgettable and we loved being in the heart of Lauterbrunnen. We can’t wait to return!
Amazing location just facing the waterfall. Room is cozy with all necessary inside. Shared bathroom but always available). Free parking. I liked everything with no exception. I definitely recommend this place for solo travelers to see unique part of waterfall valley in Switzerland.
A beautiful, spacious two-bedroom apartment with lovely views of the valley and waterfalls and convenient parking. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the evenings. If I ever get back to Lauterbrunnen, I would definitely stay here again.
The kitchen is so well equipped! It helped us save a lot of the dining cost in Lauterbrunnen knowing that food isn’t cheap in Switzerland. We have eight in the room but we didn’t feel crowded at all.
Location was excellent for visiting all the spots in the Lauterbrunnen valley. Literally steps away from train station and gondolas. Comfortable rooms with nice views!
It was super clean. One of the best stays of my Switzerland trip. The view from the balcony was awesome. Definitely will be coming back.. Highly recommend!!
