Located near the borders with the Netherlands and Germany, on the Meuse River, the university city of Liège is the largest in Wallonia. This inviting destination has a historic centre with brilliant monuments and flea markets.

The continuing tramworks are still a problem although the situation is improving. I wouldn't visit for tourism until they are finished. The Au Point de Vue restaurant offers good value for money if you are in the vicinity of the opera house.

The centre of the city is a huge building site as a new tram system is being constructed. This has been going on for a couple of years and only seems to be getting worse. Once it rains the paths turn into a mud-bath. I do not recommend going there at present.

Nice location on the river Meuse.
Nice location on the river Meuse. The staircase to the top of the citadel is insane but awesome! Nice pubs to sit and relax. Much of the city is under construction, new tram line and roads. Feron street was completely shut down so scratch it off of your itinerary. The Curtius museum is huge, plan for at least 2 hours.

liege had a nice old town area. we loved the restaurants and patisserie shops.
no real central hub, dirty stinking streets, obviously people don't use public toilets and just piss on the streets the stink is everywhere.
biggest problem was the amount of drug users. yes found in every city but i was surprised by just the huge number we had seen. although we did still feel safe during the day.
not the best looking Belgium city very grey stark buildings.
ok for a day trip.

Great inner city pedestrian area filled with shops, restaurants, bars. Liege Cathedral, and it's treasure, was fantastic. Ticket for the treasure room gives you free entry to the archaeology museum, which is also amazing - just underneath those modern streets is 2000 years of history!
There are waffles freshly baked on every corner, I recommend filled with chocolate, and you should find a nice place to eat the local specialty - Boulet à la Liégeoise - juicy meatballs in a tangy sweet gravy. 1 makes a very filling lunch, 2 a fab dinner. Served with chips, the famous Belgian chips, and salad, a delicious meal. We ate at La Brasserie De l’Élysée, which is a short walk from the cathedral.
We're very sad the second day, Sunday, was torrential rain, we'll have to come back to see the Sunday market!

Luik is a beautiful city along the Maas river.
Luik is a beautiful city along the Maas river. It is a little strange though, because the new trainstation is quite far away from the old city center (still walking distance) and there is not a whole lot in between. I was also a little surprised that you cant find the world famous waffles on the menu at any cafe or bar. You specifically have to go to a pastry bakery to get them fresh and a lot of those are closed on sundays.
The curtains of the beds give privacy. That's amazing. No noise. Comfortable bed. Shower with power! Hairdryer. Towels. 25 min on foot to the cathedral in city center or 2 bus lines from train station in 10 min in the city. Hotel has a nice working area in lobby. Super nice. Has coffee and tea free of charge in the lobby all day 7 am - 11pm. On my first floor there was a kitchen for everyone with cooking possibility. No smoking in entire hotel!! Liked everything very much in this location. Thank you!! 😀👍
We booked this very lastminute (the night before), but the host was very quick in his replies which was great! Amazing large apartment, everything was very clean. The check-in at the Ibis hotel makes it feel very secure, because there is always someone there if needed. Parking for 15 euros per night was also handy. The apartment had some small bottles of water and 2 beers. It is about 30 min walking from the city center which is doable (and next to the station).
Overall, a great stay. The hotel is in a great location, minutes from the primary train station, near a large park, and a short walk to the city center (~10 mins). Also, the hotel restaurant serves very good food for a reasonable price (would highly recommend at least trying it for one night). The hotel provides free parking, but only outside parking, you have to pay to park in the underground garage (which to be clear is fine, but it's not well marked).
if you’re traveling with train, hotel is right in front of the station (2 mins walking-just cross the street). But if you prefer to stay in the city center, it is 20 mins walking distance. but there are buses going to the center, so still location is pretty good.
breakfast is really good with many fresh options. they have 24 hr open coffee machine in the reception area.
rooms are clean and staff is nice and helpful.
Have nothing bad to say about this accommodation, everything is at Ibis standards, it is right in the city centre, has parking underneath (park at the Opera parking and ask the hotel for the discount), allows pets, staff very helpful, we loved our stay and will be back, hopefully when the weather allows (it was raining all day, not the hotel's fault)
I like very much the staff the staff of the hotel. They are very happy ,helpful and care every detail to make the guest feel comfortable and satisfied.
Facilities are very clean and well kept.Rooms are big enough and the hotel is very well located .
Very convenient hotel close to the station (gare des guillemins). Has an agreement with a local parking area. Very good value for money and quite clean. My usual hostel when I have to stay in Liège for a night.
The room was large and the overall feel of the hotel was luxurious. The bath was really nice and we always appreciate it when there is a separate toilet. The bed was really good as well.
Our two level room was amazing! We had children with us our entire vacation and stayed in hotels with two beds side by side in one room so it was nice to have them get their own space.
Rooms are amazing and we'll designed. Hotel lobby is gorgeous. Wish we were staying longer (only stayed a night as it was a stopover) but will definitely be back in the future.
The location of the hotel was great, near Liège main train station, buses station, easy access to any point in the city. Rooms were very clean and the stuff was very friendly.
The hotel is very close to Liège Guillemins train station and there are a lot of restaurants in the neighbourhood. My room was big, quiet and really comfortable.
