FAQs about hotels in Dresden

The Jewel Box

Known as the 'Jewel Box', Dresden is a stunning German city with rich history, an important classical music scene, and an unforgettable Baroque and Rococo-inspired city centre.

Located on the banks of the Elbe River, the whole city was destroyed during World War II, but has now been rebuilt into one of the most interesting places in Europe. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) is an imposing building that is one of the most beloved symbols of the city.

Magnificent Zwinger Palace is the main Dresden attraction, featuring impressive pavilions and a majestic garden in the middle. Continue your journey along the cultural centre of Germany and visit the picturesque Baroque square of Neumarkt. Also not to be missed is Brühl Terrace, a promenade nicknamed the 'Balcony of Europe', because of its excellent view of the River Elbe.

Enjoy a relaxing stroll around the city and you will find a selection of cosy Dresden restaurants and beer gardens serving local dishes and fine wines from the surrounding vineyards.   Dresden Airport is the international airport located in the district of Klotzsche, featuring a railway station in the terminal building. Take the train and head to your Booking.com hotel, guest house or apartment.

    Dresden’s history is mind boggling.

Dresden’s history is mind boggling. There are so many areas worth exploring, both within the city and on the outskirts. Rapid transit is easy to negotiate. Dresden was certainly the cultural Center of Germany and, despite being bombed at the end of WW2, the resilience of Dresdeners helped restore a unique city.

Dresden has obviously much to offer in terms of history,...

Dresden has obviously much to offer in terms of history, with its many museums or locations that have something to tell about it. Like the Semper Oper, which offers guided tours - also for kids (I would recommend for families); Zwinger with its science exebition; beautiful rebuild Frauenkirche with its catacombs etc. But also "die Neustadt" with many culinary restos, the art district, the Elbufer - especially in summer. As well as the many hiking trails, Bastei Bridge, many castles like Moritzburg or Königstein Fortress (take at least 5h for that. it also hold a museum) There were many more things to see, which we could not cover. So, a good reason to go back soon.

Although I have travelled to other parts of Germany, I had never seen Dresden. It is a remarkable city! I parked at the underground garage at the Frauenkirche, which was centrally located to many of the points of interest. I visited the Fuerstenzug, which is the Procession of Princes, created on tiles. So impressive! I toured the Palace. Make sure you get the complete ticket that takes you through the Green Vault. Amazing jewelry and priceless artifacts. Walking around, it's architectural overload! Also, don't miss going into Camondas Chocolate Store!

You can never get enough of Dresden.

You can never get enough of Dresden. No matter what is the reason of your visit - there is always something that will make you return. For the obvious - Old Town, Frauenkirche, Zwinger, SemperOper…. but crossing the bridge you can explore totally different town. Try to check Pfunds Molkerei to taste local cheese… Or take a ride on the steamboat - either to visit Meissen or Pilnitz castle… and so much more.

In Albertinum museum at entry doors there were no signs where to head to get to the tickets purchasing area, and there was one guy keeping eye on everybody entering the museum giving directions where to go, unfortunately I already climbed leading to him stairs and my fall was long, painful, and bloody. I am sure I was not the first and most likely not the last one keeping close contact with Albertinum floor. Placing just sign explaining the direction would prevent serious injury to other art lovers.

    The city centre is gorgeous.

The city centre is gorgeous. At Christmas time, the city is especially beautiful; there are lots of nice Christmas markets around (Striezelmarkt and Neumarkt are the oldest and most famous) that provide local handmade gifts and souvenirs. Don't miss the "Dresdner Stollen," their outstanding traditional Christmas dessert! The Old Masters Gallery is definitely worth visiting.

Finding the hotel was the same occasion as to choose Dresden as one of our stops during our travel. We haven’t expected much from one night stop. Moreover we are spoiled with all the types of hotels (including luxury ones) all over the world in our past. I’ll be laconic. This place is just incredible. Probably the best cost for money I ever saw. Worth every penny. It has its style, it makes you feel comfortable, and staff is just great. We’ll definitely come back to the city and we already know where we’re staying:) Dankeschön

This is a strange one , I’m pretty sure for most of the week I was the only guest . It is located next to a road and in easy walking distance to the train station . It is close to the airport and it is best to jump on the train at the airport and walk 200m rather than get a taxi I had a nightmare journey due to weather conditions and got to the hotel past midnight and I cannot speak highly enough of the proprietor for keeping reception open for me . There is a car park behind the building which is handy .

My hotel room was HUGE. This was a phenomenal surprise, especially given the location. The Hotel is around the corner from a ton of excellent restaurants, and only a short short walk from the city center were one can find beautiful outdoor terraces with wonderful views of the city. Once construction in the market in front of the hotel is finished, I'm sure there will also be another excellent view on the doorstep. I will happily stay here again next time I need to be in Dresden.

This apartment is located in a safe and quiet neighborhood near the old town. It has two bedrooms, two baths, two balconies, a living area, a dining area, and a well-equipped kitchen. All facilities work well (I mean “real” electronic cook top, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, etc). A couple or a small family can easily reside here comfortably for a long stay. We had a good time at Dresden, and the apartment was certainly one of the key reasons.

Great location, great apartment with view on the Frauenkirche. Although it is right in de hart of Dresden, at night it was really quiet. Parking is great, cheaper than the public parking garage. The apartment had a lot of space and a great bath. I really enjoyed the stay. Did not use the breakfast possibility at 5start hotel, but I am sure this would have been nice as well. It felt like a hotel yet it was an apartment. It had an entire kitchen with silverware, plates and cooking utensils along with cleaning supplies for them. The bed was big and had a futon couch that’s was quite comfy. The place had a large balcony that seemed like a back yard in a sense. The location is right by the main attractions at Dresden. Overall the place surpassed expectations.
