Bolzano is one of those cases that are difficult to describe without risking undermining its beauty and complexity. A witness of the conflicts and renaissance of Europe, this Italian city is the capital of the German speaking province of South Tyrol. Located in the Adige River Valley, it is surrounded by hills crowned by castles, and framed by the Dolomites Alps.
After reaching the local railway station, follow the Bahnhofsallee or Viale della Stazione and you’ll reach Walther Square, where the beautiful Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady is located. The shops along the arcaded street of Via dei Portici will lead you towards the market, located in Goethe Strasse. The display of colourful vegetables and flowers encompasses the beautiful buildings, while some of the best luxury hotels in Bolzano are located nearby.
The city is famous for its Christmas Market, but be aware that most of the hotels in Bolzano get sold out quickly during this time! A stroll around the old residential quarter of Gries and a visit to the many nearby castles is a must.
Whether you arrive at the local Dolomites Airport or the larger Verona Airport, check out the Bolzano accommodation deals on Booking.com before travelling!
Characterful town with interesting shops and restaurants.
Characterful town with interesting shops and restaurants. Also museums and places of cultural interest. Cable cars, buses, and trains all a reliable way of accessing the countryside and towns nearby like Merano.
An all year round place - summer and winter.

It was so much better than we expected.
It was so much better than we expected. Perfect combination between Austrian and Italian culture. You could eat schnitzels ánd pasta in almost every restaurant. Not too touristy (we went in September). Within 15 minutes you could go to the mountains by cable car for little money. The mountains (via Oberbozen for example) were very beautiful, wide and quiet. You could take a 100 year old tram in Oberbozen that went through the little villages up the mountains. 100% coming back! Tip: go by train! It was very accessible, we came from Innsbruck which is only a 2 hr train ride from Bolzano, including breathtaking views.

We loved the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology, the MMM Fermian and the victory monument. Oberon Restaurant was an outstanding Pizza place and the staff are friendly too. We stayed at the Roma Ariston Apartments' and we had a great time there. The mountains around Bolzano were super cool and we highly recommend Bolzano.

Bolzano is very beautiful. The cathedral is simply out of the world and the little roads and side alleys are beautiful. We took a guided tour of the city and could go into mamy pretty courtyards and churches and renovated palaces...

I stopped at St Mary's rooms and apartments, I paid 5 euros for secure parking in their garage. I went down the next morning and found that the luggage panniers on my motorbike had been broken into. Spoilt my time there, as it was supposed to be secure parking, had to spend the rest of my day there at police station sorting it out. Would not recommend this place. Bolzano is a lovely place to visit, but not this accommodation

There was a music festival going on where I could see a lot of people wearing traditional clothing and play music. I also spontaneously visited the theatre which was a good experience. As the city has a moderate size everything is pretty close by. I also enjoyed the variety of food offered which is from typical regional one to italian. I can recommend Humus Bistro and Nussbaumer. And the best is the landscape as Bolzano is surrounded by these huge mountains. I also went to Oberbozen by cable car and did a hike to bee museum Plattner and attended Yoga classes from arise Body & Mind in Yoga room as well as in the park of Mondschein hotel. I also saw a lot of people biking. I can defined imaging to come back and do that next time.
The breakfast is very generous! The host does not smile a lot, but is always helpful to answer questions, and always try his best to make his guests comfortable. Despite the old fashion and simple style, the hotel was maintained very clean and standardized, especially equipped with air conditioners! In summer time it’s something must. At last, with this money, this hotel is definitely worth it, especially with the Bolzano Pass from the host, people can visit museums and taking buses for free! Great value, highly recommended.
Hotel Raffl is situated on the outer ring of Bolzano.
Perfect location if you are traveling through Italy. The hotel is facing some beautiful mountains.
The Hotel itself is small but very accommodating. It had a restaurant, where you can order from the daily menu. I would like to highlight and show my appreciation to the kitchen staff, who were able to accommodate a gluten and lactose intolerant person!! Big thank you!! The staff speaks Italian, German and English and was very helpful with everything regarding our stay.
Great place to make a stopover when traveling from northern Europe to mid/south Italy. The hotel surprised us positively by replacing our standard room for a huge suite. Rooms were of the top quality and breakfast very well. The only small minus is the size of the garage which was full when we arrived, nevertheless it was not a problem to park the car outside of regular parking space, of course not disturbing anybody else. Everyone (as almost everywhere in Alte Adige) speaks German so it is easy to communicate.
The breakfast had a varied selection and was well prepared. The setting of the breakfast room was lovely too, we really loved the greenhouse and Christmas decorations. The courtyard of the hotel was beautifully decorated. The garage was easily accessible. Kudos to the hotel staff, they were so kind to immediately give us a free public transport pass around Bolzano upon our check-in. Although the hotel is not within walking distance to the center, with the help of public transport, we did not feel it.
Right in the heart of the old city of Bolzano an unbelievable castle is rising. The castle was retaken an overall refurbishment in 2019 has 4 floors of large, clean and welcoming rooms with huge comfortable beds and showers.
The castle is located close to the cable car of Meran that can take you to the mountain top and there a whole new world is to discover. The service is top class with patience experience and passion to make your stay the most unforgettable as they can.
Beautiful hotel, very close to the city centre (not more than 5 min walk) and with parking facilities. Parking is outside next to hotel - two parking spaces both of which are locked hence making them secure. Very good breakfast is served in a large room with ample of sunlight and is very well varied including cooked and cold items. Do plan to use the bolzano card provided because it is worth it. Will definetly stay here again if visiting Bolzano in the future.
Wonderful hotel! Located in 10minutes-by-bus from Bolzano. The room looked very nice and bigger than we expected. From the terrace there is beautiful mountains view. Nearby there is a creek and you can hear it all the time - decide yourself if it's good or bad for you, for us it was quite relaxing. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is a classic buffet with good food quality. We got a dinner at their restaurant once and the food was very delicious.
I like how everything in hotel was so uncomplicated. Stuff was really friendly and air condition in the room was really appreciated. There is a bus station nearby and train station Bolzano south so you can easily transfer in directions you wish. In the hotel itself, at the reception, you can purchase snacks and drinks and you can even pay it with credit card.
The hotel in the middle of Bolzano so all restaurants and Museums are easily accessible. We receive a Bozen card which gave free entrance to the museums (we visited Ötzi) as well as free public transport. We we went to Merano to visit the gardens at Schloss Trautmannsdorf.
The room was comfortable, clean and had air conditioning.
Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. Its an easy walk from the train station and also in the heart of the downtown. The room had the feel of a classical luxury hotel but was comfortable and the view was fantastic. The breakfast also had the broadest buffet style selection of anywhere I stayed in Italy.
The staff are friendly and polite.
The restaurant specially the dinner was amazing food also the breakfast was the basics but very delicious.
The size or the room is spacious
It need around 15 minutes by car to arrive to Bolzano center
The location of the hotel is very calm and clean
The room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. Breakfast staff was really welcoming and we had a good choice for breakfast The hotel is quite central, close to the bus station and train station and walking distance from the main spots in Bolzano. I totally recommend it.
The hotel is in a great location in the centre of Bolzano. Perfect for starting your Dolomites exploring. Room was very comfortable, quiet, modern and well equipped. Surrounded by nice restaurants options. Paid parking is nearby and accessible.
Very spacious and well-equipped apartment. The location is very convenient for the centro storico as well as the main bus and train stations. The funivia of Renon is right next door.
Fabio and Anna are excellent and attentive hosts.
New hotel, brand new facility and in the city center of Bolzano. The hotel is family owned and run. The experience was very good, all smooth. Plus, the building is an architectural piece !
A nice pit stop through northern Italy. Having hotel parking is essential as street parking is scarce so close to the old town.(Walking distance). Breakfast is good and rooms spacious.
Location, location, location. This place is PERFECTLY situated in the heart of Bolzano. Walk to everything. Comfortably accommodated our family of 6. Pet friendly. Alex was very helpful.
